Individuele reizigers Sri Lanka, 29 november 2012	beautiful sea view, tranquil location Just miles and miles of sea beach 8 The hotel is well situated right on the beach, and one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka. The seafood is fresh and again a selling point. However the hotel looks a bit tired and is in need of refurbishment. I am sure the Management is aware of this and it will be attended to. The staff were excellent and were ready to take on any request for special meals etc. Its a quiet and peaceful location. Ideal for a holiday Sightseeing/attracties tip: Definitely a place to visit whilst in Sri Lanka. The beaches are beautiful and the sea tranquil. It hardly rains, so its a bit hot and dry.
William K. (Echt)paren Canada, 31 oktober 2012	Overpriced beach 5,7 I’m afraid I have a very mixed review for this one. First of all, we initially made a mistake with booking and wanted to change from a three to a two bedroom. Agoda contacted Nilaveli Beach Hotel and tried to work something out. The hotel said that they were full and that such a change would cost us an extra $14.00 (to go from a three to a two room?). So, okay, no big deal, we kept our reservation as is. We ended up arriving at the hotel in the middle of a cyclone (nobody’s fault but not an ideal time to spend at a beach hotel). We found out that most people had cancelled (since we had already booked and paid unfortunately we couldn’t cancel). So now they had all these free rooms, but still no effort to accommodate our request. It would have at least been nice to try and give us something better for the extra money we paid (which was A LOT for the room we were given). The reception we received was not exactly friendly. They tried to get me to sign another credit card invoice even though I had already paid via Agoda. I was naturally confused about this (and quite tired after a long and treacherous journey). The front reception manager just seemed irritated having to deal with our questions and eventually dropped it and shooed us away (so why was this important in the first place?). Anyway, how about a nice welcome drink like the other hotels we stayed at (which were about half the price)? Rough business all around. The room we were given was tucked far away from the main restaurant (again, wouldn’t have been a problem if the weather was nice, but every time we needed to go to the restaurant or bar…and what else was there to do in a torrential downpour… we got soaked). On top of it all, we saw a number of seemingly vacant rooms closer to the restaurant that looked much nicer. Our room was basic (for about U.S. $150.00/night). TV reception was dreadful. Not much to do here in a cyclone. Felt like prisoners for the next two days. Not a great memory f Sightseeing/attracties tip: Make sure the weather is nice before you make the trip over here.

Even compared to the other highly priced hotels in this country, it seems very expensive. The beach, staff, and food were nice I suppose. Uitgaansleven tip: There is none. Go there if you want to sleep, but not with your partner because they only have single beds pushed together

Loved the room in front of the beautiful beach. good food, good service, would definitely recommend anyone who want to spend luxurious and relaxing time in east coast during summer season. August seemed to be the best season for the coast.

(Echt)paren United Kingdom, 30 juli 2012	good facilities, great location, terrible service gorgeous beachfront location 6 this is a tastefully built and well upgraded hotel with good facilities and a brilliant location. the service is unfortunately bad out of all proportion to what the look (and price) would lead you to expect. our first hour there was fairly indicative: the check-in process took an unapologetic twenty minutes (we had pre booked, and there was no queue, but neither front desk guy nor popping-in-and-out-of-office guy seemed to have a clue). we then went to the bar, where we were the only customers, and the five bar staff started looking very busy as soon as we stepped in. we were told to take a seat, but i eventually had to go to the bar to order, and it took about another twenty minutes for the five staff to produce two cocktails. none of them seemed to know whether we could get any food. the rest of our stay went on in much the same vein. nilaveli beach is too beautiful a spot to avoid just because of some shoddy service. if you have to stay somewhere high end, unfortunately there isn't much competition at the moment. i'd still say go, just manage your expectations!

It is not easy to get to Trincomalee and its Fort. The room was adequate but the bathroom window shelves had clearly not been dusted for weeks. Service clearly needed upgrading, when we asked for a lime and soda at the beach bar (available everywhere else in Sri Lanka) we were told on more than one occasion that it was unavailable. This was the same for some food orders at the beach bar. Service was sometimes slow - although the service personnel were pleasant. The breakfast was very ordinary. It is the only hotel of this standard in Nilaveli, and it was a good and pleasant stay for us. It is just that we felt the whole hotel needed more attention, and better service.
