I stayed about 4 weeks in a twin room, non-smoking. Location: about a few blocks away from Aomori train and bus station, so it can be a challenge during winter when the whole Shinmachi street market walkway is covered in snow. If you are coming from Aomori airport by bus, you can get off Kenchodori Station; the hotel is opposite Dormy Inn. The hotel itself is just 7 floors, and I was given a high floor as I requested since I’m working remotely and need a quiet area to be able to code 😅. To be fair, the area is pretty quiet. TV is large, though I haven’t been able to use it, it doesnt have casting nor support any playstore apps eg netflix,abema etc it does have English channels and the standard japan tv channels. It has HDMI so you can connect your laptop if you need a second screen for work, but I have my own portable screen, so I didn’t use it. Laundry is a bit inconvenient as wash and dry is separate, and you kind of need to go back a few times to get things cleaned and dried. It also doesn’t accept cash, which is okay for me since I don’t really like keeping coins 😅. Utou Jinja is just a block from the hotel, and there is a Lawson in front, so it is very convenient during heavy snow. ASPAM Bldg, a factory, and Aomori Port are a few blocks away. I did not take the daily breakfast when I booked. I wasn’t sure if I could wake up early daily, but they did allow me to purchase a few meal tickets beforehand for weekends when I asked. I also appreciate that they allowed me to change the date for one meal ticket because I checked in at an onsen/ryokan in Aomushi Onsen area overnight, so the meal ticket wasn’t wasted 😀. Breakfast is buffet-style, with a lot of options, whether you like rice or bread for breakfast. I like their miso soup, and they do introduce Aomori dishes and have a short description of the dish in English 😚. I like the moms working in the kitchen; they are very kind and always smiling (I kinda miss my mom 🥹). Room is clean and has standard APA hotel amenities despite the notice saying towel, bath mat, sleepwear is by request. I did receive a fresh one daily including bath necessities and coffee/tea/cup set. Room cleaning every 2 days is mandatory btw so I needed to go out by 9am and return at noon (not a bad thing ,just saying as it may be inconvenient for people working remotely if you have fixed work hrs). 2nd floor in ASPAM has a good area/view you can sit in for a few hrs so I sort of worked there,also have several vending machines and you can purchase food at the ground floor. Obviously you need to clean after. Hotel staff is great and is pretty patient even with my limited Japanese. I’d like to commend the team in Aomori Kenchodori for being super responsive in messages, most hotels I book via Agoda rarely respond, but this hotel branch promptly responds to questions. Thank you so much! I had a good stay overall, not my first time using APA hotel, I’ve stayed in a few of their locations whenever I needed a change of environment and never had any complaints.
