Fantastic Experience”

If you can afford to blow it out a little, Rocky's is a fantastic experience. We stayed 4 nights as part of our honeymoon in one of the ocean front rooms (we actually had the corner room which was huge and had great views from all windows!), and while it is expensive, we felt it was worth it for what you get. The staff is SO great, especially Rock and Banana, who anticipated every single need we could have. It's true that the water in front of Rocky's is not really great for swimming, too shallow and rocky, but you can just swim in the pools, they are great! Prices for beer and food are inflated of course, as it's a resort, but we spared no expense, ate and drank all day every day, and still didn't spend more than $100 per day for both of us. The included breakfast is the best we've had in SE Asia, what a treat every morning. If you have a special occasion to celebrate or just want a getaway and can afford Rocky's, do it! We could have stayed for weeks... Note on Koh Samui--the island itself is full of resorts, traffic, thousands of tourists, not the greatest vibe as far as islands go, but if you are going to Rocky's you have no reason to leave the resort--the whole point is to stay AT the resort. It's a haven away from the rest of the crazy island. After your stay at Rocky's, head over to Koh Phangan, get a cheap bungalow, rent a motorbike, and explore Thai island life there!

Probably the best resort on Koh Samui”

Check in was quick, and we were given a briefing on the resort's facilities and programmes over the coming days. Our rooms were spectacular - very thoughtfully prepared, including a power extension cord and mosquito spray. A very good choice of TV channels and wifi. Meals were magnificent - the chief chef and his staff are to be congratulated. Fruit and vegetables were very fresh and all food was creatively presented. The resort is located in a quiet area of Koh Samui, which is a blessing, and I had the feeling that we were in a tropical rain forest on the resort's grounds. The best feature of the resort is its staff. Every staff memeber we encountered was helpful and very polite; by far the best resort/hotel staff I have ever encountered in Thailand. As the resort is on a somewhat steep incline, there are many steps, and thus not all parts of the resort are readily accessible for those in wheelchairs, nor the toilets in our rooms. In sum, the best resort on Koh Samui.

Holiday Paradise”

We ordered 2 Deluxe Thai Villa in advance of 6 months with a good price.We arranged 5 persons in each villa. It is big enough for Maxium 6 persons to live in. It is very convenient for the family that there is a kitchen inside.The resort location is a little bit far from Lamai Town,but it is very quiet for relaxing. The hotel beach is very clean and lovely. The taste of the breakfast is so good although there are not so many choices. You could enjoy the breakfast buffet + order some dishes. Hotel provided the shuttle bus to Lamai and Chaweng so that we could enjoy the shopping there easily. The resort employees are so freindly and helpful. Not far away from the resort you could find two good Thai Food Restaurants.We spent 4 fantastic days in Rocky's. If possible, we would choose it for next time.

Hard to faule”

Rocky's was a great experience. Very rarely does a resort or hotel live up to the hype or the internet photos. Rocky's does. Believe the hype. If possible stay in the beachfront villas. Away from most of the public areas and attendant noise and lovely location right on the water. My only issue was being a lone traveller. This was not an issue with the staff but the hotel really caters for couples and at times I felt intrusive. My issue, not the resort's. The pools are great and the surrounds, dining areas and bars are outstanding resort style facilities. I will be back (hopefully not travelling solo next time). Rocky's was excellent.

Perfect Place to Relax and Recharge the Batteries”

When I was looking for somewhere to stay in Koh Samui I looked at a heap of places. There were many other beautiful resorts but I kept getting drawn back to Rockys so I went ahead and booked and was so glad I did. What you saw on the website was exactly what you got. The location, the rooms, the pools, the beach ... everything was perfect. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and willing to do anything to make your stay one to remember. I loved the theme nights - Beach BBQ with firedancers, Thai night with traditional Thai music and dancers and the cocktail night. Be prepared to pay a little more for drinks than you would at the bars in town but we expected that would be the case considering we were staying at a resort. We had spent a week in Phuket doing all the busy, touristy stuff so really enjoyed lazing by the pool or on the beach for the four days we were there. Still managed to fit in some time exploring the temples and the Lamai Night Markets. If you're looking for somewhere to stay, you won't be disappointed with Rockys.

choose rocky's - you won't be disappointed!”

we were really pleased with our choice of rocky's as our place of stay in thailand. we stayed for 2 weeks and loved it! we have 3 kids aged 3 and under so it was great to stay at a reasonably small resort where we got to know the surroundings and staff very well. the attention to detail at rocky's is fantastic. the staff and management are extremely friendly and helpful and take the time to talk to their guests and do whatever they can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. we ate mostly at the resort even though it was a bit expensive by thai standards.....but the food was of extremely high quality- absolutely delicious! we recommend the thai cooking course the resort offers....we had a heap of fun learning how to cook our favourite dishes from the menu (we asked to pick the cooking class menu instead of the one they had prepared) with the head chef there - very worthwhile!

You can 't go wrong with Rocky's”

Rocky's was not the cheapest place to stay on Samui but we were glad we stayed there for 4 days. The large boulders around the resort and on the beach give the resort a unique look and feel. The quality of the food, service and grounds are all top notch. The two swimming pools were kind of small, but our two kids loved them. The resort was not so crowded and we didn't have to fight for a spot by the pool. The only thing that we missed was being able to walk out of the resort and have other restaurants and shopping close by. The taxis were cheap, however so it wasn't an issue.

We liked it so much we stayed for another week”

rocky's is a home away from home. its the only 4-5 star resort in thailand i stayed at where the staff didnt feel like slave robots. making friends is easy and all the staff are individuals with their own story. its not just yes sir, no sir, sorry sir - they make conversation and make you feel at home. i made some good friends with the staff. jack, boat, and pui in particular caught my attention, and were great to talk to always making an effort to make conversation and make you feel at home. i loved rocky's. i would stay here anytime, and reccomend it highly to anybody who wants 5 star comfort without the cold and detached feeling. thai food from the bistro is phenomenal (truly), but i reccomend sticking to thai/asian food as the western offerings were invariably flavourless. i would have hoped the european chef (who is also a very nice guy by the way) would try harder to maintain a standard in regards to their european food offerings. the pastas were particularly bad (they tasted more like pasta than they did sauce), and the pizza base didnt raise at all leaving you with more of a heavy flatbread. i learnt my lesson early and stuck to their thai menu and was never dissapointed.

Traditional Thai beach villas with a 7 star touch”

If you are looking for a traditional chain hotel, go elsewhere. This is a superb, clearly every detail thought out, Thai beach resort. I had no need to travel to the city for dinners. Rocky's food was spectacular. Service was over the hill. Small, relaxing, intimate. Room 10 yards from the beach. I usually have no time to write a review, but my experience at Rocky's motivated this exception.

Beautifully designed hotel with excellent cuisine”

We stayed 5 nights at this lovely hotel. We were impressed by the design and the attention to every single detail. The rooms are very beautiful and offer everything you need. The pool is nice but small. The beach, however, is disappoining. The staff was extremely friendly. The hotel offers free bus transportation to Lamai (3 times a day) and Chaweng (once a day), which compensates for the poor hotel beach. We stayed at several hotels, but Rocky's was the only hotel having this free of charge service. The hotel even offered us a free tranfer to the following hotel. The two hotel restaurants were very good. We would return to this hotel.

Perfect as advertised. ”

We spent two nights at Rocky's in early March as part of our two week tour of Thailand. This hotel did not disappoint. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and clean. The pool and hotel grounds are clean and well kept. We only ate at the bistro, but it was delicious. Rocky's is a bit far from other restaurants and bars but you may not want to leave the resort. The best part of this hotel is the extra little features they provide like a beach bag a sun hat for you stay. They think of everything you might need.

Lovely place to stay”

Had a lovely stay at Rocky's and were looked after by exceptional staff every minute of our time there. If I were to criticise anything, it would be it's location. The beach at Rocky's is maintained excellently by staff but the surrounding areas are not. I like to walk each day but the surrounding areas are not clean and it isn't enjoyable to walk along the beaches or the road away from the resort. Unfortunately, this is not Rocky's fault and they cannot do anything to resolve the issue but it did have an impact on my stay there.

Peaceful hotel, perfect place to relax”

Rocky's is a peaceful and beaufiful boutique resort, far from the crowd. It is just perfect to relax. The food from the 2 restaurants is just delicious (of course more expensive than the local restaurants outside the ressort, but it worth it). Staff is very nice. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for an intimist and nice place to stay.

Stunning views & lovely room”

Travelled to Koh Samui with my teenage son on our return from a family reunion in the UK. Unfortunately our time at Rockys was only 1 night due to having booked and paid for another resort higher on the island. Rockys was stunning to look at and we loved the room, it look authentic, classy, Thai style but with good amenities. We were able to view the Fire dance display on the beach which was entertaining and skillful. The only issue was that the power went out a couple of times the evening we were there, as it was quite hot and humid in October this wasn't nice. The breakfast room offered a stunning view and food itself was delicious. One of the Reception staff was a bit pushy to find out where we were staying next and it made me feel a little uncomfortable as I couldn't understand why it was important for her to know? Its a shame that she wasn't more relaxed about it but we still enjoyed our stay. Thanks Rockys team you have a lovely venue there.

great relax hotel”

It was the second time I stayed in Rocky's Boutique Resort on Koh Samui. If you are looking for a great relaxing holiday, this is my recommendation to you! It’s very quiet but got anything you need on the hotel premises. A nice Bistro, Fine Dining Restaurant, Beach Bar, two Swimming Pools, Internet, Library, Massage, Gardens, Beach, Sea... If you want to relax a few days, it’s perfect!

Perfect Lamai Hotel”

The quality of the room, food and service was exceptional. Would definitely stay at Rocky's again on my next stay in Samui. The only thing that the hotel could improve would be to have more shuttle buses to Lamai Beach.

Rocky's Rare Holiday Getaway”

a thousand words can be described about our stay at the rocky's. we truly loved our stay there and will definitely be coming back to stay at the rocky's again for our next holiday in samui. everything was terrific as in for service and gardening and comfort and all.

Something to remember about”

we really liked this hotel, it has a special 'rocky' atmosphere, friendly and relaxing. after a couple of warm evenings you start to feel yourself a part of it. beach restaurant is situated on a huge smooth rock sloping into the ocean, and when you look at people sitting at tables they are like being on the edge of a cliff. every evening we had live music or some dancing event at the view restaurant, really good live guitar, thai music/dancing and so on. the hotel is very well built and designed, decorations fit the place perfectly. 2 clean and light pools are fun to be in, especially the big one. it's construction is interesting and it has jacuzzi, baby pool, boulders and small waterfall all built in. i think hotel management is great, staff seem to be very well motivated, not just 'following standart', but making your stay more enjoyable in every way. the only downside was sea is shallow and muddy, but that's a common problem at koh samui i expect, at least at bo phut was no better. also breakfast is half buffet (only fruits and pastry), you have to order by menu, and i prefer full buffet. they cook and serve it very fast though. we traveled with son 2 years old, and he enjoyed it as much as we did. plenty of places to play around: beach, 2 pools, children room, and restaurant events at evening are much of entertainment too.

Beyond Amazing!!”

Words cannot capture how accomodating and sincere all of the staff (from general manager to mainenance) at Rocky's are -- friends we traveled with had a motorcycle accident and the staff responded with assistence beyond our expectations. As to the resort itself, it is beautiful and well maintained. Our room was exceptionally large and well-equipped. We felt the quality of food and service at the restaurant was truly 5 star -- the preparation and presentation of every meal we had compared -- and often -- surpassed our dining experiences in fine restaurants in Paris, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
