Baa Atoll hotels & places to stay

the resort is situated in an isolated island on baa atoll. having said that, you need to have a transfer between male intl airport to the resort. you have two ways either by 1) seaplane (30 mins) which you need to pay 450 USD per head or 2) domestic flight (20 mins) and a boat transfer (15 mins) which will cost you 350 USD per head. the resort itself is well maintained. we stayed is water villa 226 which has a huge coral at the back of the villa. the staff were exceptional and the all inclusive (buffet and drinks - includes beer, a couple of wine, spirits, vodka, rum and tons of mocktails and cocktails) is spectacular. The buffet offers different menu everyday so you will never get use to it. the only thing I could complain is the expensive rent of the snokling gadgets, 15 USD nett per day... that doesnt include the lifevest which is also cost the same.... better to get your own snorkling equipments.

This is a brand-new resort which just opened, so the local team is still busy applying the finishing touches here and there, but there is no noise or other disturbance of the guests. The overall atmosphere and standard is very luxurious, in line with other high-end resorts in the Maldives. What I really liked is the open-air area of the water villas, as the private pool and the wooden terrace with the day bed and sun lounges is much bigger than what you would get at similar resorts in this price range. The island itself it not really big, but it has a fantastic lagoon and really beautiful beach with many coconut palm trees around the area of the beach villas. I highly recommend to do snorkeling at the house reef or scuba diving as the number of reef fish in Baa atoll is just amazing, we have also seen dolphins every day, just outside the house reef. For a new hotel, I really was impressed about the quality of the service and the food, especially the dinner which is part of the half-board program. I will definitely return to this hotel.

It was quite expensive (nearly 1k USD/ nite) but it has exceeded my expectation. Bad 1) It's quite expensive, but still reasonable among 5 stars resort in Maldives. Try to go in non-peak season Good 1) You get your own butler who is available 24/7, which is pretty cool 2) They don't just try to squeeze every dollar out of your pocket (yes, they charge high upfront). For example, when we done swimming in the public pool there is 2 glasses of juice, 2 glasses of iced water & 2 iced towel on a trey waiting for us next to our beach chair 3) You'll see lizards and all kinds of insects on the Island, but they did a great job in keeping out mosquito, i did not get any bug bite on my 5 days stays 4) Friendly staff everywhere, they will lend out snorkeling gears for free once you have attended the 15 mins safety briefing (they might ask you to take the beginner course but you can skip if you insist) 5) Free movies + fridge full of beverage throughout our stay 6) Great Bose Hi-fi system in room - bring your Ipod (not sure if anyone still own these things) All in all, my wife & I loved it.

Booked a 3d2n stay at Anantara Kihavah as a birthday treat for myself. Upon arrival via seaplane to the resort, we were warmly welcome and greeted by the staffs. Beautiful view, clear blue sea, fine sandy beaches, reef sharks around the jetty area, awesome house reef (Yellow wall) for divers! Each villa will be assigned a butler who will take care of you during your stay. My butler, Mujey, was an awesome guy who is friendly and helpful! Upon arriving at my villa via the buggy, i was surprise by the birthday decorations that they did it up for me. (although it was planned and requested by my partner prior to that) It's a sweet and nice gesture from the management. about the birthday experience at Anantara, i was given a free champagne at 12midnight on my birthday (sent over to my villa via the house keeping) a free birthday cake which taste very good and was given to me while i was dining in SEA restaurant for dinner. After my birthday dinner, when i got back to the villa, i realise that the management sent house keeping to redecorate the villa with candles and flowers which of course make everything very nice and romantic. kudos for the effort and let just say that it was indeed a very good and awesome experience. While i was staying at the resort, it seems like most of the staffs there get to know you by your name which is quite surprising. My booking was a full board inclusive stay. For breakfast we get to dine at plates (restaurant) for buffet, apart from the buffet spread being quite standard but large variety of food (i had 2 mornings of same buffet spread, was hoping to see something different each morning though), one good thing was we can order for some other food from the breakfast menu if we do not get what we want from the buffet section. Another plus point and thing to take note is that ONLY during breakfast you get drinks included. Even though for all inclusive stay, i don't know why drinks (water or soft drinks even) are chargeable during lunch and d

We got email to confirm our arrival date and time and to confirm about our seaplane a few days after we booked at agoda. On Arrival day, a staff picked up us at airport and took us to hotel's lounge because we needed to wait for our seaplane. Lounge was great, they got drink and snack for us while waiting. We rested in lounge about 45mins and staff took us to the seaplane. It was only 30 mins on seaplane to the resort. We were warmly welcomed from staffs at Finolhu island. We booked an ocean pool villa room. Room's very spacious and comfortable since it's still new. Since we wete there for honeymoon, we got sparkling wine for complimentary. We were really appreciated. Our package was half board so it covered only breakfast and dinner. I recommended full board for if you plan to stay for more than 2 nights. And drinking package is recommended for drinker too. We have had a great and wonderful honeymoon. Regretly our stay was very short. If we have a chance, we would like to visit here again.

We appreciated the behind the scenes professionalism of the place. Our needs were well catered for. The sandy beaches were spectacular and the range of activities on offer cater to all tastes. This is a refined yet approachable holiday location. When we had an issue with our air conditioning one evening, we were immediately transferred to a villa which was at least as good... As a diver, i enjoyed going out on dives in the Atol and completing my advanced Padi course. The dive team were very professional and helpful. The dive sites were not as full of life as i had expected compared to my experience 18 years ago. There were few Napoleon fish or turtle to see. I hope that the Maldivians will think carefully about preserving stocks of the fish that have characterised this charming part of the world over the years. We took the Manta ray snorkling trip and were not disappointed. Swimming with Manta has to be a highlight for most visitors. However i would advise Coco Palm to make these experiences much more professional. It would be good to have an explanation on what Manta rays are beforehand. The size of the group going needs to be limited and more trips available in a week. We had 2 boats together with about 25 people going after the same manta. People need to be educated on how to behave when in the water so as not to scare the rays. Some guests pursued the manatas, making too much noise and scared them away.

One of the best resort ever. We book overwater villa and the view is breathtaking. Every one in the resort were super friendly and accommodating to all our needs. The staff is what makes our stay really amazing. From the reception , to the bar, to the restaurant and also to the activities. We meet the bosses and they were super nice . My Families felt like home and there is nothing more than we could ask for our first trip to this resort. Furthermore the resort is brand new. The reef were beautiful and you can see lot of fishes and shark just right in front of you.and not forgetting the stingrays. It is certainly a resort you wish to come back again. Trust me you wont regret coming to this resort. You will feel really special and most importants feel like home. Thank you DHigufaru for awesome maldives experience

We booked this hotel at the last minute when we reached Maldives. Initially, we were thinking to book another hotel as we were given a great package but decided to book Royal Island due to amazing traveller ratings. All of us enjoyed our stay! We used most of the sporting facilities -- tennis, badminton, pingpong. We had wine by the pool bar. We engaged in some water sports activities too. We enjoyed the food at the Sunset restaurant on the other side. We stay at the Boli Bar if we wanted to just chill. We walked around the island at night. We loved the beach villas most of all, with the water literally just a few steps away. Although we had an unpleasant experience with one of the staff, and spoke to the GM who was very accommodating. Our whole experience, however, was really relaxing and enjoyable. A definite must stay and highly recommended!

Vakkaru was amazing, we were very happy with the room. It was spacious, right infront of the ocean. We enjoyed the friendship with the fellow staff. Our butler Saya has been amazing... he was helpful and willing. Nothing is too much. You get good service but these staff want to give you the meaning of happiness but beyond. They have stories to share and you want to listen... you feel heard when you talk to them too. I say if you come here, come for the blue hole, the people, the manta rays, the turtles, the snorkeling and just go for it! The food was good, especially the seafood.

New resort. Excellent room, fine quality of food, very friendly staff, good dive center, clean surrounding, rather interesting house reef. Very bad quality of Internet, sometimes it didn't work, several time room was not clean and prepared to sleeping to 22.30. Very high prices for food- dinner for two person without vine and dessert 400$, high prices for diving - more than 100$ for dive without rented equipment, but very comfortable and convenient. Good new boats. Professional and friendly team of dive center - Olga, Nikita, Minni, Lauren, Phillip. Crews work fine on boats for diving and fishing. We don't like hotels with personal butler, but here with Jameele it was fine. Very friendly staff in restaurants with chief of waiters Adam. Very professional staff in SPA, but higher prices to compare with this quality of hotels in Maldives. We spent our vacations on Maldives more then 25 times since 1995 and we can compare hotels according our point of view. It's well organized service with golf cars on the island and every villa was 2 bikes which you coa use. At the morning several times we called for golf car to operator but not to our butler. After this we waited golf car more than 15 minutes and golf cars came after second call to operator only. In general, according our experience on Maldives, Amilla is very good resort with very good service but prices for food and services higher on 50% to.compare with the same quality of hotels on Maldives. After opening earlier in 2015 average fullfilment of villas is about 50-60% except Christmas and New Year (96%)

The location, room, food, and staff met our high expectations. Even the owners were there to extend their warm hospitality, making sure our needs were met, and that we were having a good time. The room is very clean, modern and new. I knew from the smell as i entered that it was going to be a good stay. Just make sure to apply mosquito repellant when you go outdoors. The reef in front of the hotel is good for snorkeling. The island itself is a quiet and cozy place that you can explore with a bike (provided by the hotel for free). My only regret has nothing to do with the hotel. We weren't able to see mantas as we were hoping from the Baa Atoll, and the corals in the area, even to the surprise of our boatman are mostly dead/bleached. Overall, it was a great stay, and I would consider staying here again.

The resort just open on February 2017. All facility is very new and nice. Nice room and variety of food. There are two buffet restaurant which are so nice to choose each meal. The resort is small, but don't feel busy at all given that it all fully book. House reef is good but need to pay attention for the current. We saw black tip shark, Squids Travel by seaplane at price of USD 360 is good value. Seaplane is right in front of resort. However I have a trouble on communicate with the hotel which is very stange. Earlier I had question on the Halfboard basis, there was never any reply from the hotel. At the end I booked all inclusive. I had Given that 14 days close to travel date, I had asked for the local transportation the time and how it works. There was no reply. (Which other hotel in Maldive usually wrote back suddenly they saw you reserved.) There were quite difficult in communicate even with Agoda.com. There were no record for the previous conversation as well.

The island is really beautiful. Looks like the dream mid-sized picturesque Maldivian island. Fantastic wide beaches all-around the island, real sand shores and no sand bags fortifications like on many other Maldivian islands. Lush vegetation. Great house reef teaming of sea life. The facilities are all great as well. The Lagoon Prestige villas are higly recommended, with direct access to the best beach and reserved sun beds and umbrella. The staff is very friendly, polite and attentive. The only con is the food selection and choice. The food itself is fresh and tasty but very limited variety. You expect much more to indulge yourself when dining in a Maldivian resort 4 or 5 stars. If Kihaa manages to improve the food in the future, we would return again with joy.

This is a new hotel on an inhabited island. It is well appointed with high ceilings and lots of wood. It sits on a gorgeous beach and the ocean view rooms have wonderful views. In the front of the hotel (the beach side) there is plenty or space to relax in a hammock and enjoy the white sand beaches. The restaurant is open during mealtimes for about two hours, and the food is very good. The menu is not expansive but it has plenty of variety and very tasty food - curries, tuna steaks and light bites as well. Prices are very reasonable. No alcohol. I came for the weekend as a solo traveler and the staff were very welcoming, as were other guests - a friendly vibe. I scuba a bit, but I am not very experienced and the divemaster took extra care with me to make sure my equipment was properly set up and to make sure I was well looked after during the dive. Both the dive and the snorkel with the mantas were well organized - and very fun outings. If you are after a 5-star resort on a deserted island, this is not the place for you - but if you would like a 3-star hotel that gives you 4-star accommodation in a serene setting for a fraction of the cost of the resorts, I highly recommend.

I stayed here for 3 nights with my friend. We had a good time. The hotel is very near the airport, like 3 min. And near the beach within 4-5 min.walk. The hotel is super clean and cozy. They clean it everyday and change bed linin every 2 day. The hotel also arrange a good service on food and trip, such as Manta Ray point trip with a reasonable price. As I tried many restaurants in Dharavandhoo Island, I dare say you better eat here at the hotel. They are good at cooking also. The hotel manager is family business. Very attentive and helpful.

A very very basic room on a small simple island 5-10 mins to snorkeling area. It is actually just one local-looking house with 3 basic guestrooms. Owner Mohamud was nice and tried to entertain our requests. People on the island are very friendly too. Cold shower tap and hot shower tap are separated but there was some strange odor from the hot water tap. So we ended up taking cold shower everyday there. Owner said he will get this fixed soon. In terms of food, owner took us to a restaurant 5 mins walk from the guesthouse and i think the owner probably has stake in the restaurant too. It is USD 15 per person for lunch and USD 20 per person for dinner. you may be able to find cheaper options in Male but in the island this is what you can get, which is probably cheaper than eating in resorts. We had to pay the same price even though we caught our own fish and brought to the restaurant to get it cooked. But nevertheless, it is an experience. And taste of food were good too. Owner also helped order a motorboat to take us to an uninhabited island nearby. The water was clean in the island but not too many fish to see when we snorkeled there. The trip was a one hour stay on the island for USD 35, again not particularly cheap. Owner also helped us get a boat for fishing and several locals joined us on the fishing trip too. It was a fun experience and the locals are very helpful. The fishing trip was USD 70. Note transfer to the island is only available on Mon, Thurs and Sat at USD 50 per person per way. So need to plan early to fit your schedule if u wish to visit this island. All expenses on the island are subject to tax as well. It was a nice surprise also that the owner let us have his little lacquerware vase for free as we were looking at it.

We where very satisfied specially the care from stuff was like in "7" star HOTEL. They helped us with everything, even with rebooking apartment at second island. Apartment is little far from bikini and general beach, but bikes where available for free. We would like to thank you once again for care and hospitality. Island itself in comparison with our stay at Island Hura is much better. Nicer beaches, better snorkeling cheaper and better choice of trips. Also you don’t see resorts attached to the island like at Hura.

Our staying in the guesthouse was like in paradise. Matheen, the owner was very kind and attentive. Said, the chef did very tasty meals. Young Abdul was nice and careful. We had everything we needed. The guesthouse is situated very good, right on the beach. It's a public beach, so you have to follow some simple rules there. The reef is fine, saw turtles and sharks many times. The only sad thing about the island (not the guesthouse) is that it' hard to buy fruits there

Quiet little local island, a relaxing atmosphere. A perfect place to slow down and just enjoy the white beach and turquoise water. The rooms are withon 5 minutes walking distance to the beach. A big advantage is, that at least the tourist beach is cleaned every day - a big difference to other local islands. There is a nice restaurant and the food is tasty, breakfast is rich. You can enjoy genuine maldivian cuisine, which is delicious. Very friendly staff, they try to fulfill all wishes. A good alternative to expensive resorts, with the possibility to experience local life.

Nice cheap place close to bikini beach. There were only two priblems: 1.Moskitos in the guesthouse and on the beach. The reason is that both of them are right by the jungle. Of course it's not the guesthouse' mistake. 2.Restaurant for all the meals is on the opposite part of the island. In the guesthouse there is a big comfortale livingroom (one for all guests). Rooms are OK, but one of them (102) has no window. The host helps with everything, the price is very adequate. We were with 2 small kids, the host put an extra bed for them. In the livingroom there is always free tea and coffee The beach is being cleaned every day.
