Bloomsbury hotels & places to stay

Firstly, hotel advertises itself as Bloomsbury but technically it is not in Bloomsbury but near W1 BBC. So if you want Bloomsbury you need a taxi. If need to be by the BBC, ideal. Very misleading and would hold the advertiser to account for that. Secondly, hotel is shabby in the room. Ripped carpet, aged bathroom, bed throw that has seen better days. However, it was clean, the bed comfortable, had the necessary room gadgets (kettle, tea, Nescafe powder and milk) and if you are facing the right way, a good view over over the main road looking towards the high end Langham Hotel and street scenes towards Regent Street (ideal for shopping). Downside. Apart from the misleading location name, the corridor smelled of drains but as there are works going on outside the hotel, this might be being addressed. To summarise, located at top of Regent Street, good view from 11th floor upwards, comfy bed, good price, functional. Oh, and usefully, taxi rank a few yards away for quick transportation

The Radisson Blu Edwardian Kenilworth is located in Bloomsbury area, closed to the British Museum (about 3 minutes walk) and Russell Square (about 10 minutes walk). I can easily go to the city centre through Tottenham Court Road or Holborn subway station. The hotel has impressive interior design and beautiful decoration. The room is very comfortable with a nice bathroom.

The Russell Hotel over the road is being renovated, which means bed spaces around Russell Square are at a premium. So the Morton Hotel is a real find and I'll definitely be back. We asked for a quiet twin room and room 46 at the back was perfect. There's quite a lot of space for a London room, with a dressing table, wardrobe area, chair and a lovely bathroom with walk-in shower. There's a small fridge if you want to stock up on milk or wine - a Tesco's Express is just around the corner. Also the windows open if you want some fresh air which is an added bonus. Huge fluffy towels too. We found we were in a bit of a Goldilocks quandary with the pillows being too soft or too hard but that's a minor detail. It is scrupulously clean - well, apart from a sticky sweet-like residue on the floor which we only noticed as we were in socks. Housekeeping were genuinely concerned and came to mop it up really quickly. The TV had Sky which was a bonus but unfortunately the sound quality was quite bass-like. We loved the quirky decor themed on the different writers of the Bloomsbury group. Unlike larger hotels we didn't really ever have to wait for the lift. The reception/bar is obviously set up for evening drinks rather than breakfast. We ate there once and found the seats too low to be comfortable. Also the tables just weren't large enough to cope with the paraphenalia of even a continental breakfast. My breakfast companion mistakenly used my soya milk as the main milk was on the bar and was not impressed. Her coffee was also way too strong with not enough milk. The next morning we went to the Pret A Manger literally around the corner for half the price. There's also a cafe in Russell Square itself overlooking the fountains and the trees. But not having a decent in-house breakfast is a small price to pay for such a quiet spot. Transport-wise we used buses and taxis. I was staying in another hotel during my first 5 days in London, then was off to York for 2N before returning to London for my last 3N, where I was booked at the Principal. I was unsure where best to store a big luggage bag prior to my travel to York as the other hotel's policy did not allow overnight storage . I called up the Principal to get their suggestion and an extremely helpful representative called Hamza offered me to store my luggage there instead, even though I had not checked in. What a big relief that was to me, the various external paid options all came with logistical challenges. When i arrived at the hotel, everyone at the Principal from the doorman to concierge was so professional and helpful that I felt very assured that the luggage would be safe. I enjoyed my stay at the Principal very much. The hotel was magnificent and grand, the room with the vintage decor was superb. There was even a tuck box filled with snacks for the guest! Will def return for a longer stay!

We had specifically chosen the Euston Square Hotel for a twin room,and its location, so my daughter and I could get a good nights sleep. Unfortunatly when we arrived this was not available - the problem had occurred through the Agoda booking system. So my daughter and I unsatisfactorily had to share a double bed - not conducive to her feeling rested for an important audition the next day. There was also a lot of disturbing traffic noise from the roads but that was to be expected staying on Euston Road! If my daughters rest had not been my prime pre-occupation then Euston Square hotel is great, it was spotlessly clean with excellent facilities. As we needed to be away before breakfast time, the staff were very kind and laid breakfast out for us early.

You cant really fault this hotel. I'm a Londonder and have stayed here on numerous occasions because for me its fantastic. In terms of appearance it's welcoming, stylish and relaxing. It's a pleasant experience to walk into, especially off of a busy street like TCR. The staff are extremely polite, welcoming and helpful. If you've made a reservation you can easily have your room key within a minute or so. The fact that you can stay here for under £100 is amazing. Onto the rooms: I've only ever booked single or standard rooms ranging in price from £70 - £141. Single rooms (1 adult): these are great - but bear in mind they can differ quite drastically from room to room. I've paid under £100 for a 'single' and had a spacious room with a double bed and a spacious bathroom (usually these are at the back of the hotel, but not always). For the same price (or more) I've had a box room with a single bed and tiny bathroom. So be warned, if you end up with a box room and a single bed, chances are there is an alternative you can switch to (if available). The standard superior rooms offer accomodation for 1-2 adults so expect a double bed, large-ish room and a decent sized bathroom. The rooms feel ambient, not bland and unwelcoming like some other chain hotels. They are also quiet. They've always been clean and tidy. TV is your standard affair of freeview channels. I dont use the mini-bar (no need as you have 2 supermarkets next door to the hotel). I'd highly recommend this hotel. It does the job and then some, and you dont have to spend £200+ per night to enjoy a decent stay in London. For me it's like a hidden gem. And I will be back there as and when I need to.

I changed hostel this time to stay here. I heard YHA hostel is clean. Yes, that right! Hostel was very clean everywhere. Also very best is 24 hours lounge is open and can eat . Also lounge area is air condition area and TV on service. This is only YHA hostel system . Other hostel has not any aircondition system. Also YHA central has kitchen , so traveler will save the money ! I will stay here on my business.

The little apartment was so well organised that we did not feel cramped even after five days. And the kitchen was so well equipped with a proper cooker including oven and grill, as well as a microwave, that we were able to cook proper meals instead of heating up take-away, which is what I had expected in such a little place. All credit to the architect for making the space so workable. And the location, just outside Bloomsbury, within easy reach of theatres, British Museum, West End and Regent's Park, is very convenient. A free laundry on the premises was the icing on the cake. I highly recommend Studios to Let for convenience and value for money.

Best customer service I have ever seen in a hotel. Check in and check out were very fast and simple; I was given a room before the official check in time. Staff were very nice even when I would drunkenly enter in the later hours of the night with my friends. I was charged a late check out fee but it was a reasonable price and did not come as a surprise since I received both an email and a phone call notifying me.

Better than several hotels I have stayed around Euston. It is pricey but way better than the ambassador Bloomsbury! The room, food and service is great. It doesn't look like much from outside but it does impress inside. I stayed on the 1st floor. I wouldn't call it 4star hotel 3 star but I feel many hotels call themselves 4stars around Euston. There's no pool or spa do you can't really be called 4 stars. Otherwise great mini break for the bma conference.

Pros good location close to tube and walking distance of places to eat next door to musiam. Fantastic room we had a basic room which was defonatly not basic with 4 poster bed and fab bathroom. For what we payed would defo go back again. Cons. I wasn't quite shour what too make of the staff member who booked us in and checked us out same person though everyone was nice and friendly. Would defo be back when in London again.

We stayed here just one Saturday night as we were attending a nearby evening event. The next day we went to the British Museum - it was great to arrive there relaxed and fresh rather than after the usual 2-hour journey. A very comfortable and well-equipped flat - good bed and shower. Spare bed was used and I guess you could use the sofabed for additional children. Incidentally we booked parking (12.50 per day), which was convenient as it was just behind the building, but after 1.30 on a Sat you can park for free in some relatively nearby streets so this additional cost might not be needed.

The room offered a lot of space and all the basic amenities I needed for my week-long stay; there weren't a lot of frills but everything was clean and functional. The shared bathroom, which was my one reservation when I initially booked the room, was fine; I never had to wait to use it even though there were many people staying there and it was always clean and ready to go. If you're going to be based around the King's Cross area and are looking for an affordable place to stay this is a great option.

Booked for one night as we were going to the Theatre. About 15minutes walk from Kings Cross Station might take a bit longer if you had cases and the payment on the way isn’t the best. When we checked in we were asked if we would like a room with a bath or a shower which l thought was a nice touch. We asked for a bath but there was also a shower. Bloomsbury is safe and well located to walk or use public transport. I got a deal otherwise I would not have booked this hotel as like many similar in this area they are old, small and over priced. This hotel "upgraded" me on arrival to their partner hotel which was a bonus in some ways but all a bit odd how handled. I had only booked one night online with the intention of booking further on arrival (January so low season) however the price of the upgraded hotel was x4 of the price I paid so when asked to move back to the original hotel to extend my stay I was told it was full despite the fact it was available in agoda! The upgraded hotel was half empty but they would not budge in price which was extortionate for cold January. Booked in further down the road half the price and so much warmer with welcoming staff.

The hotel is quite small, but the rooms were very decently sized for a reasonable price. It is located just off Oxford street which is one of the best destinations for any avid shopper. It is also within walking distance of subway stations from the red and black lines. The service of the hotel staff was also above average, willing to provide advice on how to move around nearby and they even wrote a note welcoming us on our honeymoon when they found out about it. All in all it was a good experience and we would recommend it to travelers to London on a budget.

I stayed here for one night in late October. I got a bed in a shared room for very cheap, obviously this is ideal if you're a young traveler on a budget wanting to stay in central London! But saving money can come at the expense of your well being...I have a motto of 'you get what you pay for', and I think next time I'll have to spend a little more for the sake of a good nights sleep. In my opinion its false economy if you get a cheap room but the worst night sleep of your life, and thus the next day of your life is spent feeling like sh**. So yeah you saved money, but spent a lot more in terms of stress. The room I stayed in was just awful - a small, long room with very high ceilings, which meant that three triple-story bunk beds were crammed into it. The beds rocked and wobbled like crazy each time I climbed mine, and whenever the sleeper above me moved or climbed up/down, the disturbance was hideous. Someone might as well have been shaking me with their bare hands. The beds were also very small, smaller than a single bed, and cramped. No where to put luggage either. There was no ventilation except for a small fan. It was VERY hot and VERY uncomfortable. Last but not least, the noise from the neighboring room was super loud and intrusive. I know its a cheap hostel in central London, but not everyone chooses to stay in one of these because they're interested in bar crawls! All I could hear almost all night was a hoard of yelling, drunken yobs. After a night of tossing, turning, noise and a quaking bed I spent most of my morning feeling crap, and it showed. Who wants to feel like that when they're having a weekend in the city?? I don't understand why some of these cheap hostels can't have half of the hostel a more peaceful zone, and the other half a party-goers/pub-crawl zone. I don't think it would cost much to do that! I had a hard time looking for a hotel that is reasonably priced in London and that is centrally located. So I a stumbled upon this hotel, I was very happy. It was both! The hotel is one of those old and charming buildings in a residential area (close to UCL and the British Museum) that was converted into a hotel. It is very charming inside actually, and had an old English feel to it with its carpet and chandeliers on the staircase (there is no elevator so perhaps you have to request for a room in a lower floor if you can't carry your suitcase upstairs). The hotel felt more like a serviced apartment, which I actually liked because I felt like really living in London. The room was not very spacious, but it was charming, clean and had a working bathroom. It has the basic hotel amenities as well. Breakfast is also available at the hotel. I arrived pretty late (around 2am I believe) so I was pleased that it has a 24-hour reception. Two things I noticed were (1) the floor on my room squeaked a lot so it surely was noisy to the person occupying the room below me; and (2) the walls were apparently super thin. As I arrived very early in the morning (or very late at night, depending on perspective), I was still fixing my things and unpacking at 2ish am. I may have caused some noise (perhaps from the squeaking or from low-voice conversation but a man started pounding on my door speaking in a foreign language, obviously mad. So I had to stop moving (literally). I never figured out who the man was (as I was obviously not gonna open the door). But in the morning, I was awakened by the neighbor as I could hear them speaking with each other (and could also hear the laughter of their baby). They weren't even shouting; they were only speaking at regular tones/voice levels. I guess I have figured this one out on my first morning so I just became more cautious during the next evenings.
