Way better than my expectations”
we're glad to choose this hotel. it was the best one we had during our week-long (on budget) singapore-vietnam-cambodia-thailand-philippines business cum backpacking trip. i thought it was too far from the city center but it's only about 15 minutes (and us$3) by tuktuk to sisowath quay or psar thom thmei central market. it's been a great refuge after visiting tourist spots in the city center. for us, not having "711 goods" around the hotel was not a problem because we bought what we needed while we're at the town proper. it's a small thing compared to staying at the backwaters of calm mekong river. blue river hotel has free transportation by van going to the city center 3x a day so we took the 10:30am schedule. and more importantly, hotel staff were very helpful for first-timers in phnom penh.

Excelent value, very comfortable and great views.”
Hotel is quite lavishly fitted out but is very much oriented for asian rather than western customers - this is reflected in the breakfast buffet options. Whilst it is 8km from downtown Phnom Penh this was not a problem as my wife and I had rented a motorcycle to get aroiun town. Hotel reception and staff were very welcoming and helpful.

great value for great accomodation”
the view from my room was really great...overlooking the mekong river...one can feel the fresh air and the serenity while staring at the beauty and wonders of the mekong river from the balcony of my room... the sunset was a fantastic view from the balcony... the room was clean and very spacious...with big windows around the room...a lot of cable tv channels to choose from... the location of the hotel is great for those who wants serenity and wants privacy...may be a bit far from the city proper but the hotel offers free shuttle to the city proper...just ask the reception nicely and befriend the driver...the khmer people are very hospitable...going back to the hotel from city proper, you must take a taxi at night which is cheaper than a "tuktuk" (the usual mode of transportation in cambodia...just google how it looks like...better to see it than to describe it)... I was happy that the hotel shuttle sent me back and forth to the airport...jut email them to request for this service...and they would be glad to serve you... the food for breakfast was not that great though..offering local breakfast...i hope western food can also be serve...

this hotel was great they upgrade us to a suit with a balcony had a great river view the staff was great . got a free ride to our next hotel in town .this is the best hotel i have stayed in for the price the suit was great free tea great TV channels breakfast was good but should have fresh eggs to cook . the pool was nice i would stay again when we go back next month.even though its a little distance from town .nice market for food about 3 miles from there

nice room, comfortable layout. I liked the pool. This is the second time I stayed here in a week because I have some things to do in the neighbourhood. But, if you're hoping to see Phnom Penh, this hotel is way too far away for that. Stay somewhere closer to the city.

Lovely hotel that can accommodate large families”
Overall we loved our stay at the hotel but there were a few questionable aspects about the hotel which are worth noting for anyone considering the hotel to take into consideration. The shower rarely had hot water, despite asking hotel staff to look into the problem. The front desk staff are friendly but do not always remember to carry out basic requests, despite asking several times (after which we gave up.) The jacuzzi was very dirty so we avoided it and we did see rat droppings in the dining room on the chairs, which was a bit of a worry. Having said that, they did get the pest control people in, which displayed diligence in dealing with the problem promptly. The hotel truly is beautiful and the cleaning staff do a wonderful job of the rooms. The price is very reasonable, especially considering how beautifully cool our room was after each hot day in the Cambodian sun.

Nice hotel for the price”
We would highly recommend this hotel at the discount price. Staff extremely helpful, we received a free upgrade. Rooms nice, very clean, spacious, nice view of the river but a little dark at night! The hotel is out of town, free bus into town once a day (ask and they will be flexible with times) and about $4 tuk tuk back from town. No complaints but the hotel is starting to show its age a little if that worries you.

stay at the hotel was comfortable. the hotel is a little out of the way. but it did not matter for me as i had hired a car to take me around for the whole day, which included sightseeing and shopping. cons: the room safe deposit box was not working. also, some items on the breakfast seemed as if they were left over from the previous day. i booked the bus from pnom penh to siem reap through hotell reception. they said it was a vip bus and very comfortable. the bus was not upto our expectations. i was told that it was a 5 hour journey, but it took us 7 hours. for the price i paid i could not ask for more.

Nice hotel, poor location”
We stayed in the Blue River Hotel for one night at the end of our trip. It is quite a distance from the city centre and so you would have to pay for a taxi or tuk tuk every time you wanted to go somewhere as nothing is in walking distance. The rooms are very nicely decorated and have lots of space with a very nice bathroom including bathtub and separate shower. Staff have very poor english so communication was quite difficult. Overall we had a pleasant stay, they allowed us a late checkout free of charge as we didnt need to leave for the airport until 2pm. The hotel is huge and a little eerie at night but fine for a one night stay.

this hotel is just out of town so its nice and quite with a great view of the river. the hotel has every thing you need and would expect from a 4 star hotel. rec highly for the traveller that likes the home feeling. breakfest was amazon too

too far out”
This is a lovely hotel with luxurious, modern fittings and very tasteful decor. The staff were extremely helpful. The manager sent someone into city to buy our bus tickets and then transported us to the bus stop in the city centre (at no cost) The buffet breakfast was pretty good with a good selection of asian food. The biggest downer with this place was its location. It is across the river from the city centre and about six or seven kilometres away. It is surrounded by lots of commercial and light industrial buildings, though it was very quiet in the room. Mediocre swimming pool

what we liked about this hotel is the quiet location, with very nice room, nice pool and gym. the staff is very friendly and helpful, the hotel management was very kind to e-mail us before our arrival for free airport pick up and when we arrived they have picked up us and drive to hotel. best value for that price.

Great budget hotel but shame about the location”
the rooms were fantastic-the bed very comfortable, the bath a welcome surprise and the appearance very clean and tidy. the view was even quite picturesque over looking the river. the only downside was the location. this hotel is located over the other side of town, down a rocky busy gravel road and past a bustling local town. to get in to town a free shuttle is available, which we did take advantage of on the last day, however you have to book it over an hour ahead. otherwise you can always get the doorman to flag down a tuk tuk. the only thing is that what you save in room costs, you will have to spend on fares if you want to get in to town for dinner or a drink. other than that the hotel is clean and tidy, the staff are welcoming and a dip in the pool at the end of the day was nice. generally however i feel that the hotel would have been much better had there been more guests staying there. the restaurant was okay, the breakfast a bit disappointing, the jacuzzi not advisable and the gym unused...however it is very cheap if you want to just get away.

Good hotel but out of town”
Modern but Khmer styled hotel ie very heavy, dark teak furniture and very low lighting in the room. In fact it is impossible to read in bed unless you remove the lampshade from the bedside light. We were in a deluxe room with a balcony overlooking the Mekong. The rooms are large with efficient, quiet air conditioning. Good bathroom with shower and large triangular bath except if you turn the tap on the water hits the edge of the bath and disappears down the crack between the bath and the wall! Beds quite hard but not uncomfortable especially if you fold the duvet underneath you instead of having it on top. Breakfast not very good and everything is lukewarm with undrinkable coffee. Good wired internet in the room and wifi in the lobby. There is also a computer for guests to use. Whilst we were staying the restaurant remained closed for dinner although room service was available. The hotel overlooks the Mekong river but is quite a way out of town and is a $4 tuk tuk ride to the centre of town. There are no restaurants nearby so if you go on a trip in the morning, return to the hotel midday to swim in its good outdoor pool then back to town for dinner and return to the hotel after, that´s $12 added to your daily bill. The hotel allows you one free trip in their minibus per day, and they will take you wherever you want to go in town, which helps a bit. We arranged for them to pick us up at the airport which they did efficiently at no extra cost. However, the cost of the room is good value and even with the fares back from town added, it is still cheaper than something comparable downtown. Communicating with the reception staff can sometimes be difficult but works in the end. The hotel has no maps or tourist information available.

Excellent hotel”
Hotel was excellent, staff extremely friendly, facilities were great, breakfast was excellent with good choice. Room was perfect, bed was extremely comfortable with great views from balcony. The only downside was hotel was over on the quiet side of the bridge opposite side to nightlife, but the hotel had courtesy taxi, free to go to the centre of the nightlife this was excellent idea.
