Bougainvillier Hotel, a nice place to stay.”
The Bougainvillier Hotel was an oasis of tranquillity within a hectic environment known as Phnom Penh. The staff arranged petals on our bed for our anniversary, congratulated us and were most charming. This attitude remained the norm from all staff throughout our stay. The room was absolutely fantastic, very large, beautifully appointed with quality Cambodian furniture and polished wood throughout, it was spotlessly clean at all times and had good views of the river. Breakfast was a delight with choices of English, Continental, Cambodian and as much as you could eat, setting you up for a busy day of sight seeing, the evening meals were equally good. I would recommend this hotel for those who like a good quality service and surroundings.

Great central hotel in Phnom Penh”
We really liked the Bougainvillier hotel in Phnom Penh. The staff were lovely, really helpful and the rooms were good value for money, very clean and good sized. The buffet breakfast was good. The rooftop cocktail terrace was delightful. The hotel are currently installing a lift which should be ready soon but the staff carried our bags up and down for us. Although in a very central situation we we're pleased at how quiet it was at night. The beds were comfortable and we both slept well.

Great location with spacious rooms”
I have stayed in Phnom Penh many times and decided to try the Bougainvillier for a change. I was not disappointed at all. I stayed in a river view junior suite and recommend to other guests to pay the extra for these great rooms. It was more like a beautifully furnished apartment than a hotel room. Breakfast is excellent and staff without exception friendly and attentive. I rebooked this hotel two more times during my travels in March because it exceeded all expectations. The rooms are spotlessly clean and have excellent facilities including fast wifi. There is no elevator but that's good for your health . The swimming pool is located at another hotel around the corner but only a minute away . however this is misleading in the profile of the hotel and feel that the fact that the pool is not part of the hotel complex be more clearly stated to avoid any misunderstanding. As a solo business traveller the pool was not an issue but if I was travelling with children it would have been a big disappointment Overall I highly recommend this hotel.

A classic hotel right in the center of the action”
if you want to be close to everything that phnom penh has to offer, yet still enjoy some peace and quiet, you can't get much better than the bougainvillier hotel. it sports classy french-style architecture yet also has an asian flair. very good breakfast that comes with most rooms. everything was just as i would expect; could not ask for anything more.

We'll stay here again and again”
first time we've stayed at the bougainvillier and it was a wonderful surprise. the staff were outstanding. friendly, hospitable and helpful and with a sense of humour. the lift is "under construction" but that wasn't a problem as one of the lovely young men carried our suitcase up the stairs on his shoulder then made sure we knew where everything was in the room, which we loved. breakfast was served in a beautiful old world type dining room with white cloths and silverware making us feel as though we'd stepped back in time in the nicest way. we intend to make this our hotel of choice for subsequent visits to phonm penh.

Nice boutique hotel in great location”
I would definitely stay at the Bouganvillier if I were to visit Phnom Penh again. The location is nice in that it's close to several of the main sight seeing attractions. It's also right on the river, which adds to overall setting. The breakfast provided a nice mix of cereals, fruit, croissants, bacon & sausage, as well as a few traditional Asian breakfast staples (e.g. noodles and rice). I had been warned by other reviews about the night manager, but I also experienced her aggressive sales approach. If the hotel wants to establish a travel agency it would be much more appropriate to have a concierge service or a sign posted in the lobby. The travel agency/internet cafe next door, however was very convenient and the agent never went for the high pressure sale. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and would I recommend to other travellers.

There's no lift, but everything else is great ”
i have stayed several times at the bouganvillier because the location is great and the spacious rooms that look out over the quai and the river offer superb views of the activity below. there is also a rooftop garden with extended views. it is a bit of a climb up to the 5th floor in a stairway with no handrail, but i enjoy going there for happy hour followed by a meal of pasta or pizza. the waiters are very attentive and their english is good. usually the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. it depends on who is on duty. wi-fi connection is good. there is no problem with guests in the rooms but they must leave their id card at reception. just outside the hotel there are several very competitive tuk-tuk drivers who can be annoying. i'll look forward to staying here again on my next visit to phnom penh.

Good value, enjoyed my stay”
I stayed for 3 nights. The location was good, albeit in an area where there are a lot of tourists. :::::: The staff were friendly and responsive. Twice, I had problems with my Internet connection (the LAN connection via the RJ-45 jack under the desk showed "Link down") and they fixed it within 5 mins of my calling the reception. ::::::::: Furniture: lots of cabinet space, large closet, separate make-up dresser with mirror, desk and chair where I could use my laptop, the bed was a four-post wood, nice single-coat and trouser hanger near entrance, nice full-length mirror as well. Everything seemed fairly new or newly renovated. ::::::: I didn't spend much time in the hotel itself, as I was out sight-seeing most of the time. This was my first stay in Phnom Penh, so I can't compare it well to other hotels. ::::::: Breakfast was adequate. I was typically in a hurry to get out the door so I didn't spend more than about 15 mins eating, but it had the basics I needed -- fruit, juice and tea. :::::::: I did not see an elevator, but my room was on the first floor, so it was only one flight of stairs to walk, and the bell boy helped me with my luggage. :::::::::: Also, this may seem like a strange thing to note, but there is good airflow in the room from both the over-the-bed fan as well as the wall air-conditioning unit. I tend to hand wash some personal clothing items, and I found they dried very quickly because of this. The hangars in my room closet were removable and this helped.

Bougainvillier Hotel, Phnom Penh”
The hotel is in the best location in Phnom Penh, overlooking the river. This is one of the key streets with many bars and restaurants and as such, great to be based in. The price was very reasonable for the hotel. The breakfast was adequate. I stayed at te suite, which is beautifully decorated - in a traditional Asian manner. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Upon request, I was provided with the cable for ADSL internet. Really good value for money.

Great location”
this hotel is at a great location for the casual visitor in that it is in the liveliest part of tourist phnom penh. if you pay a premium price for a river view room, the view is excellent. all other views are of the roof of a large auto repair facility behind the hotel. the hotel staff are friendly and helpful, and the restaurant and bar prepare good meals.

Always nice to return here.”
I have stayed many times at the Bougainvillier. I like its excellent location and the spacious rooms with large bathrooms. I always feel that it is worth paying a bit more to have a suite with a balcony overlooking the animated quay. The Junior Suites seem to be more modern and have the most daylight. There is no lift and not all stairways have handrails. The rooms are large are comfortably furnished. The large-screen TV and free WiFi worked well. There is a small safe and a mini bar. The curtains do not block the light so the room is very bright early in the morning. There is plenty of hot water but in the shower, I could never get the cold and hot water to mix. Either the water was cold or very hot. The buffet breakfast has a good variety of mostly western choices. I found the Asian noodle soup was very disappointing. For me, the best attraction of the Bougainvillier is the rooftop restaurant overlooking the quay. It is quite a climb to get up there (no handrail) but it is well worth it. They do Happy Hour and serve pasta dishes, pizzas and a few other choices. I enjoy spending evenings up there in an open garden atmosphere enjoying the view over the quay. The music is soft and the service is very attentive. The Royal Palace, the National Museum and many restaurants are within easy walking distance. There are a couple of aggressive tuk-tuk drivers in front of the hotel who can be annoying.

Great location and service”
i have used this hotel a number of times now and it is my "default" stay when in phnom penh. excellent location, friendly staff, good meals, wi-fi internet access in your room and cold air conditioning, with a good tv and well sized rooms. it has everything i could ask for in a hotel at a reasonable price.

Bougainvillier Experience”
My wife and I stayed 3 nights and we loved it! The location is fantastic. It's walking distance to almost anywhere in the heart of Phnom Penh. We stayed in the junior suite which has a balcony and facing the river. The room was both spacious and very clean. The entire staff from the boy who helped us unload our luggage, to the reception, housekeeping, security guards and the restaurant were simply awesome! Very friendly and warm. The only problems that we faced were 1) the water pressure was not adequate, 2)there are no elevators, 3) clothes rack or towel rack would have been a great addition and 4) it was a wee bit pricier than some hotels on that stretch. With that said we would definitely stay here again on our next visit.

A colonial gem in Phnom Penh”
A good central location in Phnom Penh. The staff were very helpful and the junior suite river view room was decorated in a mix of old world colonial mixed with modern amenities. Ask for a top floor room if possible as the traffic noise can be a bit over the top; with the balcony door closed you can barely hear the traffic. Not sure if there were elevators so worth to check that if you get a room on the upper floors. All in all, it was a comfortable stay and we would come again. Be careful if you are having a beer on the balcony; a gecko jumped into my beer glass and went for a swim...I got him out before he drowned but I think he wanted to go back in for a another taste!

Great location & huge rooms.”
unfortunately this trip to phnom penh & the bougainvillier hotel was not as expected. big hard pillows on the beds, asked for flatter pillows & were given some but like rocks, most uncomfortable. when one exits the room, you must take the door key which turns off the a.c. etc. etc. but when you return the a.c. does not automatically come back on & most difficult to restart. shampoo & soap dispensers in the shower, very difficult to extract contents, most annoying. stair cases wet & slippery from the maids with their floor mops. lift still not in operation or finished, which was started 12 mpnths ago.

Such a unique hotel, a truely lucky find.”
Our booking was last minute (escaping a earlier bad choice), we would have taken anything, but what a suprise when we got to the room. It was fabulous. The rooms are large without leaving you feeling as though you could get lost or there is too much empty space. And above all they were clean, you could eat off the floor if you wanted. And the buffet breakfast was fantastic. Location is right on the river front next to bars and restaurants. I have stayed in Phnom Penh several times, but only once at the Bouganvillier hotel. My next visit will definetly see me stay here again.

Great hotel but make sure you are fit”
This is an established hotel in Pnomh Penh in a good location near to local bars, eateries and shops. The Royal Palace is within walking distance. You can arrange transfers from/to the airport through the hotel, although we arranged for our regular tuk tuk driver to take us back. We upgraded to a river view suite, which was spacious, clean and had a large balcony, which we used frequently to sit out and have a drink whilst watching life go by. Bathrooms are large, but be warned this is Cambodia, and as the showers run off the main water source there are regular changes in temps and water flow. We opted for a cool shower so that when it was unexpectedly hot we didn't have to leap to safety. Breakfast was good, varied and plentiful with cheerful, friendly staff. Reception staff were helpful and friendly. The roof top bar was absolutely lovely, with terrific staff and was never too busy. However, there is a reason the bar is quiet, as there are numerous stairs up to it and no lift. Our room had about 9 small flights to it, and the bar had more. As much as I loved this hotel do not stay here if you are unfit/have bad knees/hate stairs. There is a sign stating that the lift is under construction, but was informed there has been little progress on this for the last two years. For this I have marked down the hotel features. But all in all a lovely friendly hotel in a great location.

a grand vacation”
I booked two rooms and from day everything went really well. Although, there were a few minor issues the staff immediately took care of everything. In fact, they upgraded my room to a larger suite and I really felt well taken care of. My friend and I enjoyed the breakfast and service in the dining room. the food was fresh and well prepared. All of the staff were helpful. Phnom Penh was a fun adventure and we will definitly be going back to visit.

Great location, good price.”
My deluxe room was in a another building adjacent to the reception, which was not super convenient given that I had to go through a restaurant to access the stairs. Note that there is no lift to access your room so make a special request to get a room on a lower floor if you have problems. There is also no such thing as a 'City view', but the 'River View' is great. Food at the restaurant was also delicious, with great service. Staff at the reception was not helpful when ask about touristy information such as the price of a tuk-tuk to go from one place to another. There is a sign at the front entrance saying 'tuk-tuk and taxi service of Bougainvillier' but the tuk-tuk outside the front entrance are not affiliated with the hotel. The website also states 'Business center' but there is no internet access in the hotel unless you have your own laptop. The ride from the hotel to the airport is not complimentary.

Great rooms, great location, great hotel”
what a beautiful hotel this is. granted it is a little more expensive than you can find anywhere around this area, but it is still within reason, especially for westerners. if you want a nice and relaxing few days in phnom penh, take a superiour suite in this hotel. i promise you it will make your cambodian experience so much better.
