Cardiff hotels & places to stay

First visit to Cardiff with a day at Cardiff Castle the main attraction. The hotel was easy to find. The staff were, to a man, extremely helpful and courteous. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast brilliant value for money with a delicious selection of hot and cold foods on offer. Minor niggles included the bath plug not working in one of the rooms booked (we had booked three in total) and the hotel is currently undergoing a refurbishment. The £20 parking fee per day is also quite hefty. The hotel was located in the heart of the shopping district and a very easy walk to the castle.

this hotel has become my favourite city centre hotel in cardiff. the main reason is the executive lounge on the 7th floor which looks out over cardiff castle. has an ok gym, pool and sauna. great location near st david's centre, queen street and cathays park. five minutes walk to central train station.can be a little noisy late at night as there are a few clubs around. can recommend this hotel.

Helpful, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. We were let into our room early and our bags were looked after for us at the end of our stay. The room was comfortable, a good size with a good bathroom and a comfy bed. Despite being in the middle of Cardiff it is quiet and we were not disturbed by road noise. The location was perfect for anything you might want to do in Cardiff with plenty of bars, restaurants, a Cineworld, the Motorpoint Arena and the huge John Lewis right on your doorstep.Breakfast was plentiful with hot and cold choices and a good coffee machine for cappuccinos and lattes. Altogether a brilliant stay!!

This hotel is lovely, really nice, well looked after rooms with everything you would expect. The room was very clean. The hotel is within walking distance to the centre of Cardiff (about 15 mins) which makes it a great location to visit the attractions. The breakfast was amazing with everything you could want from cereals to a full Welsh breakfast. Coupled with the attentive staff this hotel very good. It even has a free car park which is an added bonus, would definitely stay again.

I stayed at Hotel One Hundred for 6 days and 5 nights. This is definitely a really lovely place which is near to Cardiff City Centre. The location is really convenient whereby there are pubs, takeaways and convenience store just right behind of the hotel. The decor in hotel is lovely and it feels just like home. Helene and the other staffs are really friendly at the hotel. They are very helpful where they would guide you around the city if you are not familiar with it. Also, the breakfast in the morning is great and I enjoyed it a lot throughout my stay. I would definitely come back to Hotel One Hundred again if I were to visit Cardiff again in the future.

We stayed here at th beginning of our UK/Ireland family vacation on a stop to see my boyfriensd's niece, husband and 2 children who live in Cardiff. This was a great midrange hotel for a family of 5 adults traveling together. Nice size rooms and friendly staff. A 5-10 minute walk to Cardiff Bay waterfront area with many choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Convenient to other Cardiff attractions too ( Cardiff Castle, downtown Cardiff shopping, etc.). Would stay here again. The only negative I can say is that it's a little tough to find the hotel entrance. You can see the hotel from the road but with several traffic circles to navigate it's tricky and if you miss it you to go over the bridge before you can turn around. Other than that we had a great stay.

We travelled up for a visit to my son at Cardiff Uni. The hotel is planted in amongst the city pubs and eateries, so is great if you're on foot. We have elderly parents with mobility considerations, so the location was ideal. Rooms and bedding are clean. Staff are very helpful. Decor is dated, and furniture looks a little tired, but for the price we were happy to compromise on aesthetics. The beds are comfy, and night noise is minimal - even in rooms facing the street, which is pedestrianised. Breakfast is very reasonably priced - tea, coffee, juice, cereals, and toast are on a help-yourself basis, plus you get a choice of variations of cooked breakfast, including full-English, which are waitress-served. There is a subsidised parking deal available operated in conjunction with the near-by NCP carpark (2 minutes walk away) that reduces the eye-watering £21/24hr normal charge to a relatively digestable £9 - An excellent price for premium city centre parking. All in all a very enjoyable stay. We will definitely return to this hotel when we visit Cardiff again.

Our stay far exceeded our expectations. We had never stayed in a hostel before so were a bit hesitant but we're delighted with our choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities included a wii, dvds, books, an ipad, speakers and a fully equipped kitchen. The toilet and shower rooms were modern and extremely clean. The beds were comfy but the single pillow was very thin. The breakfast was fantastic and really wasn't expected to be that good of quality and variety considering in was included in the price. The location was perfect for shopping or going to the millennium stadium as it is right in front of the hostel. I highly recommend this hostel and would definitely stay here the next time I am in cardiff.

Wonderful place to stay in Cardiff in an upscale part of town near (but not obtruded on by) the cricket stadium. Attractive and excellently maintained accommodations in a late 19th century Victorian row house, comfortable beds, friendly and knowledgeable but unobtrusive hosts, and excellent value. Full documentation and details about guest expectations, amenities, house history, local restaurants, local transport, etc. are provided in the room, with common-use guides to attractions in Cardiff and the region available in the hallway. In addition, when you book, the owners send by email pages of useful information. Number62 is wonderful home base for visiting southern Wales and nearby areas of England.

considering that the "star rating" system is a complete pack of lies in england (i.e. a 3 star in the usa gets 4 stars in england; a 3 star in england would only be a 2 star in the usa -- this is the norm for england, everywhere), we were very pleasantly surprised to find that when we stepped into wales the usual lies stopped - at least at this hotel. it was marked as a 4 star and it was a 4 star. kudos on that. the room was great and large with spectacular views - two whole window walls, a nice large bathtub, modern shower, large extremely comfortable king bed. also a desk which we did use, and a table & lounge which we did not use except to throw things there as we shopped. the breakfast was a very good value if you buy in advance. if you pay the "day-of" it gets a lot more pricey. however, you can pre-order breakfast the night before, and the selection was excellent. we went nuts over the croissants - so fresh! buffet style with special orders just fine. the only bad thing is that they use insanely toxic chemicals in the pool and spa area. just two literal minutes in the steam room and i could taste a soapy nastiness on my tongue. same foul smell in the jacuzzi and the pool. we complained to the manager about this and did not return to the pool area at all. the manager gave us free parking as an apology (which is normally 10 / day). outside of the bad pool, we enjoyed this hotel and would probably stay here again. great location for all of cardiff's main attractions.

the holiday inn cardiff is about ten minutes walk from the main central train station, on the edge of the shopping area and right by the millenium stadium and the historic castle. i was welcomed warmly, and, whilst small, my room was clean and had a bath as well as shower. the breakfast was well presented and ample, and although i had an early start, i had plenty of time to enjoy it. i would recommend holiday inn to any travellers looking for a town-centre location in cardiff, especially sports fans.

I was really pleased that I booked the Angel. I was in Cardiff for one of the Rugby World Cup matches, so you could not beat the location. There was loads of match related activity in the hotel including a local male voice choir singing - how brilliant. We also had a fire alarm go off and the hotel staff were cool calm and collected in dealing with the sleepy and grumpy guests in the middle of the night - great job!!! I would recommend it and would definitely stay there again.

Loved this room. I was in room 7.Had everything I needed.Lovely view from window , was able to sit in the chair in the window with the window open with a cup of tea watching the river. Didn’t hear a sound at night very peaceful. Bed comfy . Bathrooms were all 5 star super clean with lovely little thoughtful touchesTowels were very soft& new looking. Wi fi was great.Very easy check in staff very professional.Would have gladly stayed here for a week but could only stay one night as had to return home..Lots of storage space in room.Secure code entry on room door. Enjoyed my night here. Fantastic value as only paid £22 as it was a Sunday. Few mins walk to central shops., castle etc. Will return.

Lack of fresh coffee as part of the continental breakfast (included) was a personal disappointment but selection of teas was very good. Shower weak (top floor) but just about adequate to do the job. Request for quiet room was achieved by the helpful staff. We had one evening meal in the restaurant/bar which was much better than anticipated. Overall very good value for money.

This hotel is ideally located for visitors to Cardiff Bay, within walking distance of the Millenium Center, the Bay and the Dr. Who Experience. Clean rooms and facilities. A buffet breakfast was included in the price and it was nice to have breakfast with views of the canal. However the parking was not free and it was a surprise, although it was £5 for 24 hours, I would have preferred to have had that included in the room booking initially. Also the internet service was expensive, this compared to a free service at another Holiday Inn Express in another town was a disappointment. Staff were friendly and helpful and altogether a nice stay at a reasonable price.

From the outside doesn't look impressive, although I believe it's the oldest hotel in Cardiff, and as the reception is on the 2nd floor, after meandering through corridors for the lift or stairs (dependant on entrance used) slightly off putting, but once IN the hotel staff were so friendly and accommodating. Large rooms (mine was a standard so the superiors must be massive) , big screen TV, sizeable wardrobe, ironing facilities (going for an interview so very welcome), and good sized bathroom I used the bar for a late drink, comfortable, friendly and nice atmosphere but didn't do breakfast so can't comment Location - bang on - shops, bars and restaurants all around but from the room couldn't hear any noise.
