If you book the hotel, book the dinner option. Costed just a little bit more. One of the best dinner that I have eaten in Japan. Luxury and tasty. Like 10 courses. Breakfast was great with Japanese and Western food, coffee, tea, and juice. Very romantic, and very kids friendly hotel at the same time. Best location to view the lake. We rented a bike to go around. Shuttle to train station available: We did not try public bath. I am sure it was good. One of the best stay with food accommodation for me in Japan.

The hotel has been renovated recently so reviews before August were no longer relevant. The hotel provides efficient pick up service from Fujikawaguchiko station, all you need to do is ask the staff to help call the hotel from the tourist information centre. The hotel is located on the upper slope so walking up to it from the station with luggage is definitely not an option. Almost everything is brand new at the hotel, except for the curious collections from the old hotel scattering around the lobby and bar area, a nice touch blending in old with new. Every room has 180 degree perfect view to the lake and Fuji mountain (balcony/terrace), which is unbeatable in terms of value for money in the area. The hotel room itself is very spacious and clean. Beds and pillows are comfortable. Breakfast/dinner provided are superb, a fine experience in itself. Rooftop private rented bath is perfect for foreigners, view to MFuji is beautiful at sunset. Overall a great experience, highly recommended.

Cons: approx 2.5km (one way) to the local supermarket & main area with restuarants. Hotel shuttle bus: punctual and on-time. Helpful staffs who will assist with your luggages. *Personal note: No doubt you might read comments that the place is "old" , " tourist trap" , etc. But please keep in mind that this is a rural district operated by locals. We loved this hotel! Staff was very welcoming and helpful, and the room was incredibly spacious and comfortable. It was a wonderful place to relax during our trip to Japan. The spa at the top of the hotel was also wonderful; it has an excellent view of Mt. Fuji (when the mountain isn't covered by clouds) and is a great way to unwind after a day of travel and excursions. I also highly recommend dinner and breakfast. Dinner is a multi-course meal that was one of the best I've ever had, and breakfast had plenty of choices for every palate.

I am a cheap person so I have never spent more than $120 on a hotel room, ever! Because of this, I was very hesitant when deciding whether I wanted to book at this hotel. Even if it was the cheapest room at this hotel, it was more than twice what I am used to. However, what drew me in were the good reviews, the garden, and the three onsens. Now that I am back home after my 11-day trip all over Japan, I have come to realize that my best experience, best memories, and my most beautiful photos are from Hotel Kaneyamaen! Even though we only spent 1 measly night here, we experienced so many wonderful things. I realized that despite the high price, it was definitely worth it! 1. Free breakfast and dinner. Wow, the dinner was a 2-hour experience with so many courses! 2. Free drum show and game of bingo in the evening. 3. Access to three different onsens. The best one is the one on the roof with a view of Mt. Fuji. 4. The most beautiful garden I have ever walked through. I still have no idea how big this garden is; it kept going and going. We crossed a bridge over a river. We hiked up a hill to viewpoint where you can see Mt. Fuji. I think the garden keeps going, but after spending 2 hours exploring and taking photos, we had to get ready for our dinner reservations. We did return the next morning before checking out, but I saw signs that kept pointing further so I don't even think we saw the entire garden. 5. Free tea ceremony in a beautiful room within the garden. 6. Free sample of some drink in another beautiful room within the garden (sake possibly, but I remember being told it was not alcoholic). 7. Free shuttle pick up and drop off. 8. Friendly staff throughout the hotel. They grabbed our bags/luggage the second we got off the shuttle. One staff guided us to our room and made us sit down while she made us tea. While we sipped on the tea, she gave us a map of the hotel and explained the hours and directions to the onsens, our dinner reservation, etc. It was

This hotel is definitely the best hotel that I have stayed in Japan. I have been to Japan several times with experiencing more than 5 luxury Japanese style hotels. This one is the best! Even though it is expensive, but worth the value. The extremely beautiful garden, the show, the opened and covered three public hot springs and the private in-room one. The food included is very generous portions, and great quality! One day is not enough, I will definitely come back again for another good weekend.

The jaw dropping window views and surrounding scenery at this beautiful historic facility were made even better by the wonderful staff who go above and beyond to ensure their guests have a pleasant experience during their stay. Management was always quick to greet the guests (who they care about enough to get to know) and help them find their way around the city with maps, suggestions, and easy directions. The rooms themselves are a wonderful experience of traditional culture with modern comfort. The bath house comes as promised with a phenomenal view of Mt. Fuji. (If you want to catch a good view, go early in the morning before the clouds set in.) After a rough day of travel, we arrived at the hotel to find that management had generously upgraded our room so that we could see the mountain and the lake from our bedroom windows. This is by far the best hotel that we stayed at in all of Japan and we will make it our goal to visit this location many more times in the coming years.

This hotel is located within 10 to 15mins walk from the Kawaguchiko train station which is a central point to travel up to Mt Fuji. The hotel provides complimentary pick up from the train station. This was very convenient and once we arrived there were staff members taking us through to our rooms and giving us a tour around the place. Once we settled down we were left free to explore the facilities. The rooms were very large and spacious and had everything we needed. The private onsen was the best thing in the suite along with the Japanese dinner and breakfast. It was one of the best nights stay we have had in Japan and was a real eye opener to see how the Japanese lived. On the day we left we walked to the nearby Lake Kawaguchi before heading back to the train station.

Very cozy and warm. View to die for. Kawaguchiko is just a bit harder though to get to via public transport than say Hakone. Food was great. Staff were helpful but on check in did not speak the best English. When I spoke Japanese she didn’t understand me either as I discovered she was Chinese. This was a small thing, easily overcome as other staff quickly came to my aid and all staff were polite and helpful at all times. We arrived late but they had taken care to book us a seat at the restaurant. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for 3 nights, and it is by far the most enjoyable stay of my 2 weeks in Japan. The view of Mount Fuji was perfect from every room and every area of the hotel (best views from the onsen!) The upkeep of the hotel surroundings provided so many photo opportunities. We were here during the cherry blossom season, and it was so beautiful. A stone throw to a whole lakeside of cherry blossom trees. Food for breakfast and dinner was simply amazing and full of variety. Lady Mori who served us during our stay here was like a friend, and we were tearful to leave. Will definitely choose to stay here again.

It's definitely the highlight of our family holiday in Japan. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The cottage is very clean and well equipped. Super cosy during the winter. I'd highly recommend to self drive as public transport might be limited to get access around the area. The hotel does provide parking for guests. Food and amenity shops are plentiful around the area. Highly recommended and we would definitely plan another holiday back here again.

It was an unforgettable experience even after 1.5 years since I traveled to Japan and stayed at this hotel for just one night. I am still really grateful for the staff, who mailed my eye glasses to me at Hong Kong for free. During my stay, I carelessly left my eye glasses at the hotel, and contacted the hotel for help. I proposed that they mailed my glasses to me and I'm willing to pay the parcel fee, but they offered their kind assistance and insist that they pay the fee. This kind of warm-hearted service surpasses what a 3-star hotel can offer! I was too busy to write a review in 2013, but this nice memory has been remaining in my mind always, and today I am glad to recommend it to my friend who is going to japan soon, and also recommend it to everybody on agoda. Plus, the great hot spring and clean traditional Japanese style room really worth the price! We were all amazed by what we got for that affordable price we paid. And this became the best part of my Japan trip. A extraordinary hotel! :)

My mother and I came here to explore Lake Kawaguchiko and fell in love with this hotel! The staff were absolutely phenomenal! They were always so lovely and welcoming and knew who we were immediately. The hot springs were so lovely and spacious, and high quality too! The meals blew us away completely; there was way too much food for us to eat in the dinner we opted in for but it was worth every cent: the food was incredibly delicious and beautifully presented, and I cannot speak highly enough of the overall quality of service. Definitely recommend staying here if you can; the view was lovely, and the staff were more than happy to look after our bags before check in, and organised for the bus to drop us back to the train station free of charge when it was time for us to leave. If you want an incredible experience in your Japan trip, I highly recommend staying here as it was definitely the highlight of our trip.

I arrived in Tokyo, rant a motorbike and spent 3 wonderful days in Mt. Fuji area. Mt. Fuji Station Hotel in the Fujiyoshida city, as the name suggested, located right next to Mt. Fuji station of Fujikyuko Line. For those who travel via japan railways, this is an convinient choice. （More info could be found via http://www.fujikyu-railway.jp/） The hotel provides parking space for its guests, so those who travel via car/motorbike should also love this place. The Fujiyoshida city lies at the base of Mount Fuji, located between two of the Fuji Five Lakes. This means easy access to the spectacular Mt. Fuji and its surrounding area. This is a standard Japanese-style hotel in a great location. Though the breakfast could only be described as “simple”, but I didn’t come to Mt. Fuji for “hotel with best breakfast in the world”. Highly recommended for everyone visiting Mt. Fuji area

Hotel is close to Kawaguchiko Lake, one side is Mt. Fuji view & another is Lake view. Beside hotel is Kawaguchiko Herb Hall, in front of hotel is bus no.7 that able to use Red&Green Line Bus. In daytime there are many restaurants and cafes but in evening I go to Lawson that is 250 m away. In autumn this hotel is in very good location, just walk across the road and start to take photo from lakeside, then walk or ride a bike(hotel has bikes for rent) across the bridge and the great location to take photo of maple leaves with Mt.Fuji is opposite side of lake. There is small onsen&sauna on 1st floor, it's not good view in onsen but convenience to use, I use onsen and massage chair everyday I stayed. Everyone have to pay Tax 150 yen/day(I think it is Onsen-Tax that everyone have to pay when stay in hotel that has onsen). There is free transport van for check-in(3PM-7PM) by call to hotel. For check-out there is van service to Kawaguchiko station every 30min. from 8AM-11AM by booking.

The hotel is a little bit out of town, but it provides a shuttle service into the railway station and it takes only 15 min. The hotel itself is huge area but we stayed in the main block in a fantastic junir suite, as we were upgraded as I requested a non smoking room. The room itself was spacious and very comfortable and clean. The restaurant provided a buffect breakast and diiner which were both delicious hot and plentiful. My wife loves seafood and each night ( we stayed 2 nights ) they toped up with fresh seafood and a lot of variety of other main courses both western and Japanese. The staff in the restaurant we very polite and helpful and nothing was to much trouble. The reception staff we excellent and each time we asked for information we were given accurate proffesional data and also maps which helped us find our next hotel in Hakone. We would highly reccomend this hotel if you want to stay in this area and dont be put off by its location, there is not much to do at night in the town so best to stay out all day and get the suttle bus back to the hotel. The hotel does has lots of faclities including a golf course but I did not take advantage of it, but it looked good.

We are very lucky that we had upgraded to the best room of the hotel.It was totally unexpected! We hv booked 3 ppl room with Fuji view but arranged by the staff to the suite and the highest floor when we arrived! Wow~ There are 2 levels in our suite ,4beds ,2 toilets and 1 bathroom included! The view is excellent and we can see the full view of Fuji! We woke up at 430am to see the sunrise with Fuji in the suite directly! Staff are great and helpful!Esp. the driver of the shuttle bus🙂 Thank you so much for the arrangment! We had spent a great night with Fuji view :) P.S. You can call the hotel to hv a shuttle bus when u arrive the nearest station.

We had a friend visiting from overseas, and this hotel gave him a perfect "Japan experience". The hotel has nice gardens all around, a good onsen (hot spring bath), massage facilities, a small pool great for kids 6-10 with a jacuzzi and small sauna as well, fantastic multi-course Japanese dinners and an excellent buffet breakfast both included in the price. The best part are the stunning views on both sides--beautiful gardens and Lake Kawaguchi on one, and Mt. Fuji on the other. The hotel does look a bit old and worn-looking, but everything is maintained in excellent condition. Oh, and extremely kid-friendly--we were traveling with a 6 & 8 year old plus a 3 month old baby (I know, I know!) and they really went all out to help us out. My only real criticism is: no bar to speak of! There is only a terribly smoky, tiny room in the basement (I'm a smoker and I couldn't stand the smell!) Either the huge space used for dining or the very nice lobby area would make a great bar, but instead they want us to go drink in a tiny stinky room downstairs? No thanks. We grabbed our own bottle of scotch and sat out by the lake. Problem solved.

We stayed during the off season in early June. For our "Run of the House" booking that cost a bit over 8000 Yen, we got an amply sized Japanese room on the 4th (top) floor with slightly more snacks and drinks than usual. Considering the two onsen in the hotel, it was a pretty good deal. There is a 150 Yen surcharge in the Fuji area that has to be paid additionally upon checkout, however. One of the outdoor onsen is on the second floor and overlooks the lake. The second one is on the ground floor and has an indoor and outdoor area. Both were clean and pleasant, although the herb sauna was "under repair". The view from most of the rooms is good. No idea how the view of Fuji itself is, since it was raining. One of the main sightseeing buses passes in front of the hotel, so the attractions in northern Fujikawaguchiko are easily accessible (or in 20-30 minute walking distance). All in all a good experience, but full price would have been too expensive.

What a great onsen experience! So relaxing. Great view of lake. I expected to forgo my breakfast due to my gluten intolerance. I arrived after already receiving multiple emails from Agoda saying that they could not give me a gluten free meal, but when I arrived, the staff noticed the Japanese gluten free request I had submitted with my reservation. In their lovely Japanese hospitality, they were able to make an exception and made me a lovely breakfast that did not make me sick. It was so delicious, the best that I've had in Japan so far. I wouldn't say that they are a gluten free hotel, but that they take care of your needs if they can.

It was wonderful to see fuji,san just right outside room window( we booked 2 rooms with Mt. Fuji view) very worth it. Air,con are new and quiet. Basically the room are well equipped with all you might be needed. Kettle, tea set, fridge, hair dryer, safe box.. Etc. we book room with breakfast which is nice. We paid extra ¥3500 each for hotel dinner (big japanese set with sashimi, crab legs, japanese shabu shabu(hot pot)..etc it was delicious). Free pick up from kawaguchiko station (ask tourist info staff to call hotel for pick up)but no transport on the check out date. we had to make our own way back to kawaguchiko station which cost us ¥1540 for around 2 km distance by taxi. We had no choice with big luggages for 4 pax. For other days or if you are light travellers. Fujikyu bus stop is right out side the hotel ¥150 each to /from kawaguchiko station. This is very convenience to get around. We also tried a walk from kawaguchiko station it was less than 30 min on a good weather day. There is a family mart / restaurants / super market situated 7 ,10 min walk from hotel. The hotel area is quiet and peaceful. There are indoor onzen and outdoor onzen separate male/female. 2 min walk to lake side. Hotel roof top has view deck for panorama view of fuji,san and kawaguchiko lake, don't miss it!

I went to Japan and visited many city includded kawaguchiko and stay in Koe house. The host is best host ever. He really good English communication and offer me a half day trip for free. Took me to many places that you can't go bus public bus, just have to pay a bit for 3meals wish is so delicious and pretty big portion . Location very near to kawaguchigo station just walk 3 min . Room was clean and cozy. Heather work well. Perfect!!

We arrived at 7.30pm and it was dark. We have no idea of the location of this hotel but was told it was within walking distance from the Kawaguchiko Station. Sure enough, after afew asking around, the hotel was on the right side of the front road from the station. Less than 10 minutes (dragging our luggage) and there to greet us was the owner himself. It was fast and he spoke English. We booked 2 rooms, I got the room with half view of Mt Fuji. My niece and friend got the blocked view. The hotel is quite old and the rooms are as well. But it was clean and very decent. With the price we were paying, we have no complaints. The beds were comfortable too to my surprise. The room was quite cold with no heater or that we did not know how to operate. We can get a very good view of the magnificent Mt Fuji from the lobby front. It was very beautiful!. We dont mind booking this hotel again if we come back this way.

Everything was perfect! exactly what we expected from a Japanese ryokan near mt Fuji and more! The hotel provides free shuttle pick up from and to Kawaguchi station everyday from 2 pm to 5 pm. This is very convenient since public transportation there is quite difficult to find and it's just too cold to walk around during winter. The hotel provides free breakfast and dinner with superb (5 star) quality! We had lobster, crab, wagyu beef, wine, tuna, salmon, everything were just a total spoilt. Honestly it was really worth it for the price. The room was big (the biggest out of 5 hotels we stayed in Japan), 1 toilet and 1 bathroom inside the room, window is huge and overlooking lake Kawaguchi, The futon was surprisingly very comfortable (I think they use real silkworm material, it was light but warm). However what we like the most is the onsen! If you're going there as couples you can book the onsen for 30mins for 1500 yen(per couple). They have 5 onsens in the hotel. They also have 2 telescopes you can use at night for stargazing. Oh! and they have a rooftop for sunrise and sunset watch (you can see Mt. Fuji and the lakevery clearly from the top). Everything was just great and those 2 days were the highlight of our trip in Japan.

You have to call the hotel when you get to the station to arrange for the pick up shuttle service. Would advise to call from the tourist information center payphone or ask the staff to give the hotel a call since it could get pretty noisy if you use the payphone by the station ticket gates. It would be better if the hotel could have the option to be reached through the Agoda app via message. Shuttle arrived within 5 minutes and you're off to the hotel! The staff at the hotel are helpful. They helped me out with my itinerary and also shared directions on which bus to take etc. The hotel rooms were small, so it could fit around 2 people max. Best features of the hotel - the onsen and the food! They have a public onsen and a private one (exclusive for hotel guests). I tried the private onsen and it never gets too crowded; sometimes I even have it all to myself. Plus, it offers a view of Fuji! Partial, but still beautiful. Great view of the lake too! Water temperature was just right at around 41°C. Very relaxing. Really appreciated the sleepwear they provide as well in the hotel rooms. Buffet breakfast was good and there was a nice selection - from different kinds of bread, viands, soup, noodles, etc. We also opted to try the hotel's buffet dinner (at 1900 yen) and it was really a bang for your buck! The quality of the food and the variety of dishes were good. Would like to try the crab dinner next time (can only be availed if you purchase it through your reservation when you book your room) because they'd serve unlimited snow crabs! Be ready though - there are a lot of tourists staying at the hotel, especially Chinese tour groups, so it gets really noisy in the lobby and dining area, and even in the hallways since the walls are pretty thin. Best to arrive early for the breakfast and dinner buffets and be prepared to elbow it out with the rest of the guests. The staff replenish the dishes pretty quickly though so food wasn't short.
