Koh Chang hotels & places to stay

After staying at 2 other hotels on Koh Chang we decided to stay at Awa, as soon as we arrived we were welcomed by all the staff, especially the manager. The hotel lobby is incredible and really you want to stay in there for a while to experience how awesome this hotel is. We were upgraded to a superior room so we could get the best view, thanks again to the manager, he went above and beyond any of his duties and really made our stay at Awa something special! The room was beautiful, and finally we got a good nights sleep in Koh Chang In a very comfortable bed! Every request we made was attended to, promptly. The pool is incredible and you will want to spend most of your time in and around it. I know the Thai people are friendly, but these guys at Awa were really something else, staying here really made our journey to Koh Chang worth the effort and I would recommend Awa to anybody, it's the only hotel I'd recommend!

My wife had stayed here many years ago and felt its resort status and location were going to be the same. The location of the resort on that portion of Koh Chang beach was the best. It was located on a protective cove so the scene was serene. The breakfast buffet was excellent with more food items than could be imagined. We used the beachfront restaurant for lunch and refreshing drinks, all in a beautiful atmosphere. The evening meal, seafood and barbeque was a little pricey so one could go to a very nice seafood restaurant a short distance away from the resort. If one has a car, one needs to explore the island as far as one can go along the windward side. You reach Koh Chang by ferry including your car (if you have one.) There are sontels (truck taxis) in abundance. We will come back. The resort hotel is better than its 3-star rating. If you need internet access, for 100 baht you can buy a 30 minute card from the mini-mart next to registration and the hotel provides you with several computers.

The Dewa is probably one of the nicest designed hotels in Koh Chang. Designed in beautiful contemporary design, using a lot of concrete in combination with natural materials. All rooms are located immediately adjacent to the large pool, in a 2 story high building. Hotel also has some villas. The rooms are large, so is the bath room. The standard of finishing is high. Restaurant building is on the other side of the pool, open air. The breakfast buffet is really nice, with enormous amount of choice is western and Asian food, all excellent. Hotel is not too large, I believe just over 50 rooms. When we were there, the hotel was full, but we could still find a bed at the pool or on the excellent beach. Massage on the beach as offered by the hotel was also very good, and very reasonably priced ( not the typical hotel inflated prices). We enjoyed the Dewa very much and would definitely go back.

I rented a nice scooter for baht a day and drove nearly everwhere. I checked out quite a few other hotels that I looked at on the net. Trust me when I say, you wont find a better hotel than than this. Its not a 5 star but its as close as you can get. Its not on the beach, but I have to say, the beaches in Koh chang are not their high point anyway. I saw their sister hotel (Dewa Hotel) which is on the beach and I much preferred the Ramayana over it. The price is excellent, the free breakfast is good(not great). Everyday the room was made up with the towels folded on the bed in the shape of different things (elephant, flower, etc etc).What a nice touch! No other hotel has a heated jaccuzi not to mention its humongous size if thats what you are into. I personally loved it! The pool is so beautiful and quiet in the middle of the lush green gardens with all different kinds of palm trees. Dont waste your time searching for hours for the right place like I did. I got lucky and found exactly what I was looking for. The only down side I can think of is no free internet in the rooms. There is free internet at the restaurant though. Will definately stay there if I go back to Koh Chang

After seven hours of bus from Bangkok airport, we got to koh Chang finally but really tired, fortunately this hotel is well located and really near the pier and the best beach "the white sand beach" in koh Chang. The resto is quite modern and awesome buffet breakfast every morning could easily make a great start for the whole day:)!! Rooms r clean and they prepare almost everything that u need besides toothbrush which is normal in Thailand. The roof piscine is another reason why we chose this hote with great sunlight, clear sea view and breeze. We saw monkeys in the mountains from there. The staffs r polite and kind. They will show u the best smile at first before answering any of ur questions. The manager could speak several languages so no worries if u can't speak Thai nor English. So really nice stay there and surely gonna be there again next time!

This was like a dream coming true; staying at a place which has best of everything to offer which you would be thinking while making a booking. Its located on the main road, which is a big plus knowing that this is a beach resort. Has a quick, responsive, responsible, amiable staff which will go out all the way to make you feel special. The hotel will make every effort to not to let you feel bad about your decision of choosing this as your place to stay. Has one of the best beaches with an amazing view. And possibly one of the cleanest in Koh Chang with beautiful clear water as we happened to stay at a neighboring Four Star, just after this and except for a resounding name it was a sheer contrast to our earlier experience at Paradise Resort. The room service was punctual, regular and proficient in their work. Food at the Hotel's restaurant was of very nice quality (if not the best) since we are no Thai so really difficult making a judgment for us, but were comprehensively satiated by the sumptuous food available at a good discount. There were some renovations going on at the children's pool next to the adult pool which was in proper working. Will definitely recommend this place to all our friends. We will miss you KCPR till we meet again. Well done to all the people making it happen and keep up the good work! Bravos!

- very nice grounds, beautiful gardens, clean and uncrowded beach. - staff very polite and always smiling, although lacking some good english. - food in the bar and restaurant is not pricey, good quality but small choice. - average breakfast. - nice SPA, but never tried it, so can't compare with others. prices start from BHT 800 etc. - hotel is completely silent at night which is very good for sleeping. you can get live music everynight in the neighbouring Tropicana Resort (where you can also have a nice buffet dinner). - good beach and pool, lots of umbrellas and sunbeds, but beware of rocks in the water. overall, one of the best hotels in Koh Chang.

We were arriving in Koh Chang with nowhere to stay and booked this based on some other excellent reviews and for the most part we were not disappointed. A lot of the other resort on the island seemed to be more hotel style, but Gaja Puri just seemed that little bit different. Individual beach huts nestled away in beautiful forest, very tranquil and plenty of peace and quiet despite being in a great location for bars, restaurants and shopping. The food at the pool side restaurant was also among the best I have ever had in Thailand. Would highly recommend the spicy shrimp and crispy squid salad. This is a great dish, and we ordered it every time we ate at the hotel. Unfortunately the complimentary breakfast was not quite as good. Same, limited selection every day and after a week we found ourselves eating brekky outside the hotel. Private beach area is small and a little rocky but plenty of other options nearby. Still a very nice place to lie and watch the sun set with a couple of cold Singha’s served by very friendly, attentive staff.

We spent 5 nights at this resort for our honey moon and it was fantastic. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. We were welcomed with a cold towel and a Thai herbal drink upon arrival. The staff took us on a tour of our room and were very thorough. We had so much fun in koh Chang mostly because our hotel was so great. The resort is situated on a nice white sandy beach and it is by far the best compared to the other resorts around. The resort provides motorbikes for rent at only 200baht per day which was an amazing way to allow guest to fully enjoy all the island has to offer. We spent two days exploring by bike and it was the best 200baht spent! They also offer a fabulously luxurious massage by the beach for a very reasonable price. We took advantage of the oil massage and it was lovely. The breakfast was also a large variety which was great! The food at the restaurant is also not bad but a little pricey. We ended up eating most of our meals elsewhere. Overall if we come back to koh Chang we will surely be back to panviman resort!

This hotel is as good as the pictures, we stayed here for 6 days on our honeymoon and it was just perfect (although a little quiet as we went in July) the rooms are very large and the pools are kept very clean. The beach at the front of the hotel is also stunning!! We had bed and breakfast and the breakfast is great, loads of choice and very tasty!! We hired a motor bike and travelled accross the island, the roads are quite dangerous if you are an inexperienced rider as there are many tight bends and steep declines, however, it is definitley worth doing, we saw monkeys in the road and went to a lovely resyaurant at the bottom of the island called baracuda. The cons: (hardly any!) We thought the other meals however were a little over priced and not as nice as the restaurants on Koh Chang. Tropicana staff could also do with learning how to make a cocktail as they were pouring orange cordial in instead of juice etc. There was also no entertainment on in the evening and the bar closed at 10:30. Overall one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in!! Highly recommended!! In fact I want to go back right now!!!

our stay was very comfortable, i stayed with my wife and 1 child and 1 infant in a small room but very clean and nice. the only thing negative about this hotel is their TV inside room is small and not so many channel but that was not a big issue cause we not intended to stay inside room, we just stayed for rest and for sleep and i really recommend it to everyone as it is nice and cheap and first i was hesitant after i read few bad comments but once we were there we saw it was completely different from few people's comment. Maybe some had a bad stay due to certain things but we had a great one and i will stay there again if i ever go back to KOH CHANG

We stayed at Nirvana for 10 days over Christmas 2009 and would definitely visit again. We picked the hotel because it is small, only 11 rooms, and in a peaceful location in the south west of Koh Chang. The hotel is on a small peninsula, with water on both sides and has been beautifully designed and laid out to make the most of the landscape. The rooms are spread out, some on the beach and some up on the hillside. I highly recommend rooms 1 through 4, which are right on the beach. The beach itself is not great, very narrow and because it faces Bang Bao village the water is not very clean, but it is nice to have a room right on the beach with a view out to sea and of the village and the boats coming and going. We didn't mind about the beach too much because they do clean it every day and it was good enough for our kids to play on the sand, and for swimming there are two great pools, one freshwater rock pool on the hillside and one salt water pool by the beach. Another great advantage is the rocky bay right behind the hotel where the water is very clean. It's a little rocky getting into the water but good for swimming and snorkelling. Apparently it's one of the few spots on Koh Chang where you can snorkel right from the island. We also liked the restaurant in this bay, Cliff Cottages, a very relaxing spot to hang out after a swim. The restaurant at Nirvana was beautiful, the waiter Sert is a star and we loved our individually prepared breakfasts. The dinner menu is not huge and we only ate here 3 or 4 times, but the standard is generally high and it's not too expensive, though Cliff Cottages next door had cheaper and better Thai Food. Service was uniformly friendly and good, especially Sonny in reception, Sert in the restaurant and Charlie at the pool bar. The manager is also helpful. We stayed here on our first stop on our holiday in thailand. The rooms was a welcome sight after a long flight. The room itself was stylish with beautiful wood work and attention to detail. The staff ensured we knew everything about the room and facilities when we arrived. The location is out of the main party drag which suited us fine, but if you are looking for more of a party atmosphere this is not the place for you. There is a lovely pool, which had a great view and loungers perfectly spaced out for an element of privacy. The food was lovely, fresh and not too expensive, having the dinner tables set up on the beach was a special experience. There is also an amazing masseuse right on the beach who was so talented and not expensive. The staff were so kind and helpful, eager to please. We had to catch a ferry to the out next destination, the sailing was only once a day. The hotel organised a transfer from the island to the other ferry port (around 3 hours In total), when they checked in with the driver to find out our progress, they realised due to traffic we would not make our outgoing ferry if we took the same car the whole way so they sorted out a car to meet us from the Koh Chang ferry to take us the whole way to the other ferry so we didn't miss it. they used their initative amd went above and beyond in our opinion. If you want a relaxing stay, in a beautiful location and to be taken care of by a warm of caring team of people I couldn't recommend this place more. We stay again!

First of all you may face a confusion to find it, because this villa is part of Siam royal view resort and it is not mentioned anywhere in the booking as it is owned by private person. With some help of local people we have reached, but first we were disgusted with mouldy smell inside the villa, also it was told to us that there is a maid who is cleaning every 3 days. We were there 3 nights a we have never met her. In such kind of villa I would expect daily housekeeping. Actually the villa was not so bad, in case you ignore the fact that you have not a direct view to the sunrise, also it was taking time to turn on the water heater and the things like wash machine or dishwasher were not working at all. The resort was very good, but the private owner of the villa really needs to improve the services

We stayed for 5 days and wanted to extend our stay but unfortunately the hotel was fully booked according to Agoda. We were pretty satisfied with our stay (room 303). We had rented scooter so location wasnt a big deal but we're glad we chose this place. We thought it was central, but mostly because we had scooter. + Fitness room + Great private swimming pool + Access to Emerald Cove (their 5* sisterhotel) They have a larger pool right at the beach We recommend you rent a scooter so you can explore this lovely island. If going back to Koh Chang we would definitely consider this hotel again :)

Beautiful resort in it's own oasis on Koh Chang. I spent the last 3 nights of a two week holiday at Peninsula Beach Resort and it was and it was perfect way to end the trip. Breathtaking sunsets over the calm serene sea sent me back home feeling well rested and tanned! Be sure to explore and take advantage of the non-touristic Thai village and restaurants while staying here - there is a free shuttle that is pretty reliable that will take you to and from the main street (5 minute drive), ,or rent a motor bike from KC Home (they will deliver it to your suite).

Our stay at Serenity Resort Koh Chang was perfect from start to finish. We originally choose the quiet side of Koh Chang Island for our last week of a three month trip overseas for it's relaxing atmosphere and authentic vibe. We could not be happier with our decision! Steve and the rest of his staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, advising us on places to go, making sure we always had everything we needed and ensuring our stay was something to remember. The food at the resort was the best we had in the whole of Thailand - so much so, my fiancee and I ate there every night! The cocktails are incredible too! For those who may think this side of the island is 'too quiet', it isn't. Hire a scooter and explore the many picturesque spots along the way. From waterfalls and mountains to temples, there is something for everyone. We will definitely be back!!

We found Baan Talay Thai easily as it is well sign posted on the main road. On arrival we were quickly and efficiently checked in and everything explained to us. The house was perfect for our needs, very well laid out in a great setting by the sea, the swimming pool and pagoda excellent, a great place to unwind from stresses and strains of life. Although a home rather than a hotel basic requirements were supplied to get us started until we had time to shop. Places to shop were explained to us when checking in. As mentioned before because of the location in relation to shops, resturants and bars it is good to have your own transport, we brought our own from the main land, but hirecar, motorbike or taxi's can be arranged by Baan Talay Thai and rates looked very reasonable. There are resturants within walking distance some will pick you up and deliver. We stayed in the 3 bedroomed 'Gardenia' house, which is well kitted out for 6 persons with 2 double beds and 2 single, plenty of towels and well equipped kitchen. TV with DVD and True Vison sat box had many channels in different languages, enough English language movies to keep our kids happy on the occasional rainey period. The house is very well designed and decorated, but take care in the bedrooms as the wooden floors are quite slippery especially with socks on! WiFi in and around the property is very good, kids managed to keep book faced and I managed to keep up news in general and footie results in particular. Although housekeeping only once a week the management cleaned the house and changed the linen after 3 days, which was good. We in all we really enjoyed Baan Talay Thai, rates were very reasonable for a great villa in a great location with excellent private pool. Thanks for a great time, we will definetly be back.

We enjoyed our stay. Our 2 bedroom duplex was beautiful, had everything we needed and lovely towels and bedding. You could cook all your meals as no proper restaurant yet. The pool was nice and the location. It could be a 5 star once it's finished but isn't yet. The duplex was perfect for our family though and we would go back if we could get another discounted price. Not sure I would pay the full price to stay here though.
