Regatta Suites Kozi Square Kuching
Kuching City Center,Kuching - View on map
"I’ve always had the best stay in Regatta Suites! The hotel is still quite new so you can expect all the good stuffs in here!! 😆 Tried both Queen Express Room and the normal Queen Room. If you don’t mind missing some LED mirror and laminated floors, the express room would give wonders! The check in process albeit a bit slow (i bet due to the overwhelming bookings), you can still feel like the staffs are trying their best to accommodate you as soon as possible. And oh, the housekeeping guy I met was so friendly you felt at ease leaving your stuffs behind!! Thank you Awin & all the welcoming faces I saw in Regatta Suites. Keep it up! "

Pullman Kuching Hotel
Kuching City Center,Kuching - View on map
"I have been staying in many different hotels in Kuching for the past many years whenever I visited the Cat City. This time, after a fantastic experience staying in Pullman Montparnasse (Paris), I decided to give Pullman Kuching a try. I must say the 2 night stay in Pullman Kuching did not disappoint me at all. With my husband and two little kids, we stayed there for 3 days 2 nights. And using the Agoda online booking, we got a rather good deal. The hotel is new, and elegant. I like the room with no carpet, instead just the parquet wooden floor. In the long run, it will definitely prevent the room being smelling soggy and bad odour, especially in Malaysia's humid weather. I particularly like the toilet which is big and spacious, and the water pressure is good. A shower hose in a cubicle is good when bathing my two little kids, instead of the usual fixed shower head or bath tub. The king sized bed is nice and firm. The staff at the counter are courteous and helpful. Though, I must say the glass roof concept occasionally make the lobby area feel hot and warm, especially in the afternoon. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel for tourists traveling to Kuching."

Grand Margherita Hotel
Kuching City Center,Kuching - View on map
"I chose Margherita Hotel for my experience in Rain Forest Musical Event was due to best online promotion room rates among the hotels in Kuching. Our experience with the hotel hospitality was when we requested for room change and the attention given was superb. We were granted and lead to the ideal room that we requested. We were also elated as we found out that Margherita Hotel would be the 1st pick up point for shuttle bus to the Rain Forest Event and more is also the 1st drop off point after the event over. In other words, we gets the best seat that we wish on the way to Sarawak Cultural Village and able to rest early once the event over. As this was our 1st trip to Kuching, staying in Margherita Hotel helps us to save lots of time to do our shopping and enjoy the town scenery as the location of the hotel have easy access and nearby to many attraction places. Thank you Agoda and Margherita Hotel. "

Damai Beach Resort
Damai / Santubong,Kuching - View on map
"We decided "Kuching" in Sarawak, Borneo as the destination (we live in Singapore) as something a bit more adventurous than just "beach and pool", with 3 teenage children. Good Choice. There's plenty of interesting and exciting things to do. But where to stay? If the main thing is visiting mountains and kayaking and caving and hill tribe visiting, then Damai Beech is not the best location, but it worked, and Damai was a really lovely place to get back to at the end of th day. Fantastic view from our suite, and a reasonably good beach. I must say I saw lots of reports in Agoda saying how shabby Damai is, how poor the service is etc .. but then also others saying how good it was. Look, it's Malaysia! And this is not a new resort either, so if you are used to the Grand Hyatt or the Ritz, of course it's a bit shabby, but it's fine! Damai was a really good choice, and our class of room (the Hill Top Suite) was superb. To be honest, getting 2 adults in there and 3 teenagers was a little cramped (with an extra bed) but we got it to work, and had 5 nights there. The Bidayuh would be ideal for couples with a lovely 180 degree panarama of the bay. If yoy have the money, get two rooms! There are different types of room there, and perhaps some of the standard rooms may be the ones being criticised, I don't know. I also saw comments about slow service. But you again, relax .. we found them to be very friendly and obliging. Ok, they were sometimes a little slow, and got a couple of things wrong, but hey, we were on holiday! Relax, it was really fine. One thing to watch: check out when the local school holidays and avoid this period, and also perhaps avoid Sat / Sun as there are quite a number of local Kuching families who come up for the weekend, and take 'day rooms' so it is much busier then. The main pool is really too small for a crowd, but fine when it's quieter. "

Harbour View Hotel
Kuching City Center,Kuching - View on map
"We had a memorable stay at harbour view plus the peaceful kucing town. We feel the warm welcome as we entered harbour view. The prompt service at the counter and the ever willing concierge staff who helped us with our bags. The room is comfortable for the two of us. The air-con was easy to adjust and the complimentary drinks in the room are available. It was easy for us to perform the prayer cause the direction of the "kiblat" is clearly marked. We suggest that you provide a Quran in the drawer. On the second day, we encountered with the door card to our room. We got prompt help from your staff. It's good. The location of the hotel is strategic. Near Parkson and the vicinity is just like Orchard Road in Singapore. It's just a walking distance. The waterfront is near and the jetty is a couple of minutes from the hotel. New experience for us to travel to the othe side of the river in a sampan. If someonw asks me why I like Kuching Sarawak? My spontaneous answer is the wet market. Here I can get relatively cheap price of tenggiri, senangin, lobster, cuttlefish. Only cooked food didn't suit us well. But only one restaurant "coffee o corner" at Bangunan MARA saved our empty stomach. All in all, we had enjoyed our stay in Kuching. At least We could feel the slight difference in environment compared to our home town in Shah Alam. Furthermore Kuching is half an hour earlier of time zone compared to west Malaysia. In fact we give you a score of 8/10 for for good service."

More about Kuching

The modern day Kuching is a city of history, food, and nature. Set in Sarawak, Kuching makes up 30 percent of the state with the rest being covered by thick jungle. Kuching formerly belonged to the Sultan of Brunei who then ceded the entire area to James Brook in return for his help quelling a rebellion. Three generations of white maharaja ruled the city, bringing a Western influence that can still be seen today. The city was later given to Great Britain, then taken over by the Japanese in World War II, and finally rejoined Malaysia as a city managed by two separate local authorities.

Few cities can relate to the evocative Kuching. Many of their hotels are in the form of beautiful period houses. Mosques and Buddhists temples such as Hong San Temple are able to be visited, and so too are theaters, libraries, and more than a dozen museums. Some would say the national parks are the best part of the city. Long tail boat rides down the Sarawak River and an overnight stay in a remote longhouse of the Bidayuh tribe make for a truly exotic getaway.

Kuching International Airport services the area from Kuala Lumpur. It also operates regular connections to Singapore, Kota Kinabalu, and a few other important regional cities.
