"The social room on the 1st floor is awesome, it feels like a bar atmosphere and I thought it was one at first where you order drinks etc.. That said, I don't think can justify paying over $50 a night for a dorm bed in a hostel, but maybe that's just because it is Los Angeles. Pricey spot."

"Even when a lightning storm causes all the power to go out in the city of El Segundo, Josh and Deja still make everything pleasant and comfortable without losing a step. Deja, despite having lost her computer system completely by the storm, was able to check me in by improvising on the spot, and still continuing to be friendly and polite. Josh was able to resolve an extremely complicated financial matter caused by the storm effortlessly and with the same friendly attitude as Deja. I got to tell you, the employees here are the absolute best. Thank you again, Deja, Josh, Barbara, Yvette and Sonny for making my stay awesome and enjoyable. Standing ovation to you all!"

"the standard was perfect for my two-night stay in los angeles. the downtown location was convenient for bus and subway lines, and there were plenty of eating and drinking options nearby. as it was, i kept quiet in my room, raiding the awesome minibar and ordering excellent food from the 24-hour restaurant. the standard staff were unfailingly helpful and cheerful. if i'd been feeling more extroverted i would have taken advantage of the rooftop pool bar or the billiard table in the lobby. "The Kawada Hotel is in Downtown Los Angeles. The location is prime. Standard rooms are small but comfortable. Mine even had a kitchenette and small refrigerator. Smoking rooms may be available on request. If you feel like having a small snack, there are vending machines. Staff are professional and helpful. For example, the receptionist gave me my room around 9:30 AM even though check-in time is in the late afternoon. The Kawada Hotel is a couple blocks away from the Civic Center subway station (red and purple lines). I am convinced that this hotel offers excellent value for money and would try to book it again when I return to Los Angeles. "

"It’s an older facility, so that applies to the furniture, rugs, and common areas as things are worn. It’s not a honeymoon hotel, or upscale. But it is a great value and well located with immediate access to the freeway system, airport, and beach communities. It has a nice pools, tiny convenience store, and restaurant on site. It’s not a walking area, but by car, you are very close to endless restaurants, shopping centers, beach communities, and so much more. I personally like to use Yelp to find new restaurants, related comforts, and venues. It’s not a five star hotel, nor a dive, but appropriately rated 2.5 to a 3 star hotel, and at a location that makes it very convenient providing that you have your own transportation. This isn’t a resort setting with pool service and beach access, so avoid making the mistake of expecting this to be something other than a decent hotel with minimal amenities. "

"After a bad experience a few days earlier at a Hotel that was being refurbished during our stay, the noise of jackhammers on arrival here was a bit concerning, however we needn't have worried. The Hotel has been completely renovated, and whilst works were ongoing to the ground floor (I believe to create a restaurant) the rooms were all complete and to a very nice standard. Original hardwood floors had been sanded with large rugs and which kept the essence of the hotel's original appearance but modernised it thoroughly. Very friendly and attentive Valets and check-in staff. Reasonably priced mini-bar. Nice soaps and shower gels etc. I would definitely stay again. Hotel is in an area which means that taxi or car are required for tourist destinations, but also is away from traffic and there are places to eat just within walking distance along Wilshire"
