Tulum hotels & places to stay

When I checked in, I didn't really had the feeling I'm welcome. But my two talks with the receptionists afterwards were friendly and nice. Everything is clean so far but it also appears a little bit sterile. The atmosphere didn't let me feel like people want to socialise. But it is very close to the bus station and you can also book tours in the hostel. They offer a bike rental as well. But be aware of the clubs on the other side if the road that doesn't let you sleep that much. I never visited the terrace or the kitchen so perhaps it's nice there but for me it wasn't that good at all.

The staff are friendly and the rooms are nice. The breakfast is good in the morning. However the price on agoda was quoted in USD dollars and the price charged at the hotel was just their normal rate in Mexican pesos, and I booked on agoda because even the amount quoted in USD at the highest exchange rate was still less than the rate on their own website and the rate I was charged. I questioned how they still managed to get my USD rate to their standard MXN rate as it would have been a ridiculous conversion rate but never got an answer from the owner.

We had a great stay here. Clean rooms, a nice patio on the roof with hammocks and chairs, a kitchen, and yoga sometimes as well. The bed was nice and comfy and rooms stayed cold- we barely used the AC. Jorge & the staff were great and very helpful . The building was centrally located, just a short walk from the bus station and many restaurants, and very secure. In order to get to the beach or ruins you’ll need to rent bikes and you can rent them via the hotel. Thanks Jorge for a great stay!

We stayed at this hotel after a week in at all inclusive in Cancun. It is a quiet home away from home hotel with very friendly and warm owners with their little daughter and niece. The hotel is completely run by the family, hence it is safe and secure. We got great advice and directions to unique spots to see around Tulum. An easy way to the Ruins and a swim at Akumal Bay to suit our particular preferences. Not meant for the younger roudier crowd.

First, I want to state that I'm accustom to four star establishment. Give the nice photo, I thought I give this hotel a try. The photo is much nicer than reality. I would describe this as more of a luxury hostel. Let start with the positive: it is in the middle of Tulum so the restaurants, shops and main street is one or two block away. The staff was very nice, friendly and accommodating. And then the bad: the room and bathroom...uugghh, how do I put this lightly...need updating with new amenities and scent. The only window is facing the busy walkway so to have any privacy you have to keep it cover. I got so many mesquito bites maybe due to leaving the shutter open because a weak or fail air conditioner. The garbage smell from next door and the uncleanliness of the pool area was not inviting. My solution was to not be in the room or bathroom any longer than possible. So if you just need a cheap place to crash, then this may be the place for you.

Elements is a very charming boutique hotel just a few steps away from the busy main road, the beach is about 4km away. You can lend bikes for free to move around Tulum and the beaches. We had a poolside room which was huge, spotlessly clean and decorated with style. The staff was very helpful from the beginning, explainig and making phonecalls for reservations. The only minor negative point? Breakfast is ok, but not more. There could be more choice and variation. But aside from that Elements is a very good place to stay, good value for money. If we ever go back to Tulum we‘ll definitely stay there again.

I don't really agree with the term "glamping". Neither is it glamorous nor is it really camping. The "tents" are more like bungalows with walls made of fabric and an outdoor bathroom. The place was really clean and the staff was super friendly. The food smelled amazing but sadly we were on a budget and hat to go for street food. There is no hot water in the shower but they bring you some if you want. We didn't need it since the water from the tap is around 24 degrees already. Plus: they have their own small cenote! The place is a bit remote from town but we found this perfect since most towns in Mexico are quite noisy :)

A really excellent place. Beautifully set out in a lovely garden setting on the edge of the jungle. Lovely, spacious and clean rooms with enclosed verandah and hammocks. Stephanie and Sergio are very welcoming and friendly hosts. I didn't have a car but a it's a lovely 15 minute walk to the main road and then a 20 pesos Colectivo for the short distance to Akumal for beach and a couple of restaurants. Remember your torch for the walk back but it's very safe. Wifi is a little hit and miss sometimes but perfectly fine. All in all a fabulous and peaceful stay.

Stayed with my friend for 4 nights and absolutely enjoyed our stay. The room is very clean and location great as near a taxi rank and about 3km either way to beach, Gran cenote and Tulum ruins. The breakfast was a lovely surprise and offered plenty of choice. Staff are friendly and the place has a nice vibe to it. I would recommend this place and would consider staying again.

Gorgeous garden setting with big rooms looking onto the garden and pool. Lovely room with really pretty drapes around the huge bed. Our room had a nice balcony, fridge, free water, tea and coffee and TV. The bathroom was larger than normal and had a great shower, with nice free toiletries and bathrobes. Location was excellent, just off the Main Street and really near some great bars and restaurants. We used the free bikes each day to get to the ruins, beach and local Cenotes. We loved the breakfast, especially the homemade banana cake, but best of all were the staff. All were really friendly and happy to help, but also left you alone to have your own privacy and relax. We enjoyed our stay so much we stayed an extra night. Thanks for a great time.

At first you kind of hope you are in the wrong street but as soon you get into the hotel it is just so nice, beautiful and wonderful. It is really very much a home away from home with a lovely atmosphere and happy, friendly staff who will do all they can to make your stay great. Good breakfast, very nice rooms, beautiful bathrooms, a good pool area and the place is easy walking distance to the main street/center of town with all the restaurants and bars. Taxi to the beach is cheap and easy and they also have bikes, if you want to bike to the beach. By the way the beaches in Tulum are wonderful. I would stay here again.

Live Tulum was fabulous to stay in , our swim up appartment had everything we wanted and was kept spotless with loads of clean towels . Breakfasts with Wendy were lovely and looked forward to each day.There are two points I would like to make , the desk staff need to give more information to the guests, on arrival it would be nice to be given a map and told of the local area, I found one from another receptionist on a subsequent day. Also we only found out the day before we left that as a guest we could get discount at one of the beach clubs despite asking a receptionist this particular question . We had used this club nearly everyday at full price. Also we found the taxi driver the hotel used , Miguel more expensive than others . These points need adressing , but now I know the ropes I would certainly stay here again . We really loved it condo superband , position great for town bars and restaurants and cycle or taxi to beach very easy. A great place to stay .

The room was very spacious for the two of us. The fridge came in handy. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. They can arrange tours for you if you’d like. A major plus was they have a personal driver that can take you to the main attractions of Tulum. We went to the ruins and the grand cenote. The driver dropped us off and picked us up when we were finished. Very convenient! They can also call a taxi for you. The staff was super friendly and hospitable. Would stay here again!

I live in Tulum and stayed here for my birthday weekend. It was the best choice ever! This was a room right on the beach! It was super clean, close to restaurants and bars, and had the best view ever! I loved having a lockable screen door so I could hear the ocean when I went to sleep and when I woke up. It was so lovely I extended my stay an extra night. I loved being able to walk out my door and have the beach right in front of me. As it is smaller place without a bar, it was quiet and as a single female traveler I felt super safe.

Staff were lovely and very helpful. Pool and room were great. Hotel itself is ages away from anything unless you drive. Loads of parking for cars. Neighbourhood is a bit of a building site. They have bikes you can use but the handle bars fell off ours and the seat broke mid cycle into downtown. Down town cycle (in 30 degree heat) 30 minutes minimum. To begging ofbeach 40 minutes. If you cat drive I’d stay on beach and get cab to downtown.

Azura is located near the main street of Tulum. It is within walking distance of most of the good restaurants and gift shops. The staff there are super helpful! They emailed us in advance to see if they can help us with anything and they kept offering us advice and suggestion during our stay. Last but not least, the facilities in the hotel are perfect. There is a spacious living room and a fully equipped kitchen in our room. There is a terrace on the fourth floor which is perfect for sunset. They equip our room with everything we needed and even more than we expected. (One thing need to be improved is their wifi, which is kind of slow)

if you're looking for a beach resort, this is not it. but what this place offers is an amazing atmosphere, with the best staff i have ever experienced! once you walk into the courtyard you are transported into the jungle. very quiet, and the best part is it is walking distance to the best seafood you'll get! also, get dinner while you're staying at the hotel, the food is amazing!
