Great location in Ermita”
On our monthlong trip to the Philippines, we stayed a total of 15 nights at CityState Tower. The location cannot be beat with the Robinsons Mall a few blocks away. There are also many restaurants, bars, beauty salons, massage places and laundries nearby. Breakfast each morning was varied and tasty (masarap!). The rooms are a bit dated, and the bathrooms are even more so, but things are ok because the housekeeping staff is just wonderful. They are very responsive to needs. Wifi is a bit odd because we were given passwords that are valid for only one day, so it was a pain to go get a new password each day. We will definitely stay here again and recommend CityState to everyone. Thank you and Mabuhay!

Nice hotel and staff”
We stayed at the Citystate primarily because of the convenience of getting to Puerto Galera from there. The ticket desk for the Sikat bus/ferry to PG is right in their lobby and the bus departs from outside. That aside, the hotel is perfectly fine. Rooms we had were reasonably priced, clean, and good size. Shower and toilet both worked. TV was old-school CRT box and not that big, but who cares. Wi-Fi was hit and miss. Could be frustrating signing in and dropped in and out. Staff were all courteous and friendly and appeared well trained. The food in their restaurant is quite good, and reasonably priced. Location-wise it's walking distance to Manila Bay, Robinson's Mall, Ocean Park, ATMs/money chargers, nightlife etc. On the downside the streets in area are a bit sketchy: lots of beggars, street urchins, annoying vendors constantly trying to sell you fake sunglasses/phones etc. Pays to be situationally aware, and only carry on your person what is absolutely essentially for the outing when out and about. Definitely catch taxis door to door at night. Unfortunately no safe in the room to store valuables either. Overall though, the hotel was quite alright and if needing to be in that part of Manila we'd stay again.

Citystate Tower Hotel”
For twenty years, I have used the Citystate as my Manila arrival and departure hotel. The hotel is located near the U.S. Embassy and Manila Bay. My recent visit was not totally satisfactory because of the noise in each of the rooms. Never stay on the 3rd, 4th or 5th floors because of the noise level. A good pair of earplugs does help. The breakfast buffet has deteriorated in quality. The front desk staff seems to be an unhappy group. However, the rest of the staff and security are great and they will help you with any problems.

City State Tower Hotel is great”
We always make it point to stay at City State Tower Hotel when we visit Manila. We depart with great satisfaction with the quality of service for the price. Thanks City State Tower for the wonderful experience as always.

nice place for the price”
i had stayed at another hotel the night before for about the same price and this was far far better. it had the workings of a fancy hotel, but the price was quite cheap. there is a casino attatched to the hotel and that is probably the reason for the reasonable price, to attract the gamblers. rooms were nice, clean and comfortable, all in all i was very pleased. would happily go back on my next stay in manila

room way too noisy”
I have previously stayed at the citystate and never had an issue, but this time it was quite unpleasant. The room I was booked in had severe noise coming from behind the aircon. Possibly an outside generator which was so loud I requested to be moved to another room. This issue needs to certainly be addressed otherwise that current level of noise is inhabitable for any guest. The room I was moved to was over the side street and their appeared to be some band or live music playing which made it just as uncomfortable trying to sleep. Staff may consider not putting people in these rooms if they know of this issue. I was happy however with all other services and particularly how my issues were handled. I hope this feedback will help citystate maintain their high standards in future.

Good breakfast”
The food served at breakfast is buffet and better than the buffet breakfast served at BSA Twin Towers. The hotel has limited parking space at the front of the hotel. if fully occupied, you have to park the car at Cherry Blossom which is nonetheless just a walking distance from the Citystate hotel.

Great location and good standards”
the hotel is centrally located in the heart of manila, which is a busy and bustling city. all rooms have aircon and supply a good supply of toletries for the visitor, includng a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and soap, instead of the all too common bottle of liquid soap found fairly frequently in hotels nowadays, the reception desk is very busy but extremely helpful. i have stayed several times, the hotel has doormmen which exclude unwanted hangers on from the street, all in all a good hotel and i will use again.

Good Place to Stay if Going on to Puerto Galera, Mindoro Island”
I found this to be the ideal place to jump off to a dive or beach weekend in Puerto Galera, Mindoro. The aircon bus leaves every morning at 8:30 am to the Batangas Pier and the outrigger ferry boat ride is in the 1800 peso price. Return trip departs Mindoro in the morning and gets back to City State Towers at around 1 p.m. Ticket counter is in lobby. There are cheaper hotels nearby where you can stay The Robinson's Malate Mall is just one block away, really convenient. I enjoyed my two meals at the restaurant in the lobby as well as the breakfast buffet in the rear of the hotel.

Not many frills but fantastic value”
To those people who complain about this hotel - what do you expect for ? Even arriving at around midnight, staff at check-in were friendly and efficient with no hint of trying to rip me off (as in other reviews). Room was clean and comfortable, bathroom functional. Aircon a little noisy but reasonably efficient. Breakfast was uninspiring but at least put something in the stomach. A PHP300 taxi ride from the airport and the non-stop Si Kat coach for Batangas (and Puerto Galera)departs from outside the hotel. An almost empty Karaoke bar on the top floor of the hotel but a heaving live music bar across the road. Ermita is not as bad as in other reviews - didn't feel threatened or uncomfortable.

Perfect location”
The hotel is close to everything you need. The mall is a 5 minute walk, the embassy is a 10 minute walk, and restaurants are all around. The hotel does have a casino, swimming pool, pool table, and bar for your enjoyment. The rooms were spacious and clean and the staff are friendly. This was my 2nd time and I will always stay here when I go to Manila.

Nice location, fairly large rooms”
Citystate tower positions itself just a very slight notch above the budget hotels. The rooms though are fairly large size though, with lounge chairs. Its price range is about 20% higher than budget hotels and you should take this over budget hotels if you can just stretch your budget a bit more. The location is very good, it is very very near to lots of eating places in Malate and a 5 min walk away from Robinsons Malate.

Good Hotel but noisy rooms”
rooms were of a generally good standard. the only minor complaints were that the temperature of the hot water can vary depending on time of day. also, there is a lot of noise from the main road outside the hotel from early in the morning to late at night. i have stayed at this hotel before and the rooms to the back of the hotel and on the higher floors do not have this noise problem, but they also have no view. a kettle and tea/coffee in the rooms would have been a nice idea. the service was great with all staff members wishing you "good morning" as you pass them around the hotel. the location is very good with the hotel positioned 5 minutes walk to the robinsons mall in malate and close to the malate/ermita nightlife. included breakfast was only ok, nothing more.

Decent hotel with a good location”
The hotel has a great location if you need to be in Ermita. The superior rooms are starting to show their age, and could use a bit of work. Overall, however, for a night's stay in central Ermita, this hotel is a decent choice and an alright value.

Citystate Tower Hotel”
I liked this hotel and for a three star it is up there with the best. Our room was large and clean. The bathroom was ok, everything worked, and the hot water was HOT! Always a bonus. The restaurant was great having a not only a standard "global" menu but a very nice Italian menu too. I don't normally eat "in" at any hotel I/we stay at but this was to good to pass up, excellent food, at a very reasonable price. One of the few hotels worldwide that I've ever said this about. Will I stay again......sure will :-) On the downside my tv was well past its use by date, an old boxy set with poor pic and sound, also to small for the room. But who goes on holiday to watch tv? The set breakfast wasn't up to much either, not much at all. I would rather pay less for the room and eat out or even be given a voucher in lieu of have the set breakfast and putting it towards a very nice meal in their excellent restaurant in the evening. This is also only the second hotel I have ever stayed in that has direct access to a casino. I don't gamble myself but I'm sure that this feature would appeal to some.

Changed price”
This has always been my go to hotel in ermita, this time for some reason the air conditioner wasnt working and it took a long time to resolve, also was quoted one price to extend my stay but when i went to pay it the price had increased but quite a bit, the manager finally made a deal but it really left a bad taste, my recommendation, if extending and you get a good price, pay it there on the spot so it won't change later
