S Park is a great new hotel which is priced reasonably relative to the rest of Laos. The room was spacious and well designed with a separate toilet to bathroom although it literally had the worst pillows I've ever slept on in my life. They were like pillow cases filled with random, lumpy handfuls of cotton wool. The pool is great but doesn't have enough sun beds in the middle of the day. The gym is small but well equipped for a hotel with brand new equipment, we were very happy with it. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. The wifi was good/fast but has a ridiculous set up where you needed a separate login for every device and then you have to log in every time you lock your phone or close your laptop. Breakfast was decent, above average for Laos hotels from our experience. The hotel is a little far from town, about 2km walk which was okay for us but may need a Tuk Tuk/hotel shuttle. Our room located at the front received some noise from the popular bar/restaurant downstairs and as our window was broken and didn't lock, was hard to block out. Overall a good stay here and highly recommend when staying in Vientiane.

We had planned for a 5 nights stay, but we only managed 4 nights due to a broken bus transport from LP that caused us have our trip delayed. (Our Journey took 14hrs in total instead of 4hrs) Special Thanks to Mr. Kosol (believed he is the front desk manager) as his replies were quick and assuring. While we were trapped in the high mountains in the dark, i msged the hotel facebook to notify our situation and request for pick ups since we reached VV 5am the next morning. Mr Kosol sensed we were quite worried and replied promptly to our call outs. Location of Hotel is at her Best. although VV isnt a big place and most hotels are convenient in general, Amari is located at 1 of the sweetest spot along the river. We both loved the view from our room totally. Room is of good quality, bed is of the sofer side. while i prefer the harder type, my partner has no issue with it. Breakfast options are plenty in the plentiful cafes and restaurant in the streets, please skip the hotel breakfast unless you are looking for the standard hotel breakfast style. hotel staffs are friendly and sincere and able to communicate effectively. Will Definately be our top choice for our 2nd trip to VV!!

The design of each room in this luxury resort are inspired by one of the eight ethnic minority groups found in Laos (Akha, Hmong, Katu, Lanten, Lao Lum, Tai Daeng, Tai Lue and Yao.) . Each room also have a card describing the profile of the ethnic group it is designed after. I had a Katu room. The rooms are very stylishly designed and is very comfortable and clean. The balcony also offers a magnificent view of the rock formations across the river from the hotel. The hotel also has a very nice garden and swimming pool. Relaxing in the pool and looking at the view of the rock formation is relaxation to the max. The hotel also provides bicycle to explore the area around the hotel. i highly recommend getting a bicycle to ride to the area across the bridge next to the hotels to explore the area as it offers impressive views and great photos shot opportunities of the limestone formations and rice paddies. The hotel charges USD 6 for a normal bike and USD 7 for a mountain bike if you book the hotel through other sources like agoda.com but offers the bikes for free if you book directly through the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel. It is one of the best resort i ever stayed at and the price i paid for such a beautiful hotel with such stylish room is very very reasonable. I will definitely stay here again if i visit vang vieng again.

If you are unable to do water activities in Vang Vieng (like us - half of us were sick inc my 5 yo son), then you can still do other stuff like pony riding, hot air balloon ride and seeing the sights. We spent 2 days in VV and really enjoyed this leg of our Laos trip. The hotel is in an excellent location with killer views and walking distance to the local food scene. The only drawback was the loud music coming from across the river until 10-11pm which we were ok with. And if u love dogs & ponies... do check out the pony riding for small children. Barry the trainer does a wonderful job and I am still so thankful to her for taking such great care of my son. He did not fear the ponies at all. The hotel dogs also got my son to overcome his fear of dogs and he still talks about them. The cocktail hour at the pool is also a must-do! Sunset, cocktails and an awesome view is the best way to end the day. The people are super friendly and always greet you with smiles esp if there is a child.

We stayed at this brand new luxury hotel just 2 weeks after it's soft opening, therefore there were a couple things that they are still working on and many of the staff are still training. With that said, we were very impressed by the hotel and every single one of the hotel staff we met were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay. The location is just down the street from Wat Xiengthong, the oldest and grandest of the LP temples. Also, the monks pass right in front of the hotel every morning during the alm ceremony. The hotel is right on the Mekong river, with views from some of the rooms and the restaurant. The hotel is also in a very quiet part of town, but is only a 5-10 minute walk from the center of town. The rooms are very well appointed and beautifully decorated. They preserved the look and feel of this prior royal palace, but updated the facilities with every modern amenity you would look for in a 5 star hotel. Unfortunately, there is no swimming pool due to the location within the world heritage park. However, some of the larger rooms apparently have private plunge pools. The breakfast was very good, although the options are a little limited. They had two options for Lao breakfast dishes, that you unfortunately have to request the previous day since they take some time to prepare. It's worth asking for though, since both were delicious. Hopefully, as the hotels gets busier, they will make these dishes available every day. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Xiengthong Palace and would happily stay there again on our next trip to Lao.

We have visited Luang Prabang once before and love the peace and tranquillity. This year we decided to spend 2 months in SE Asia with 2 weeks in LP. I booked this hotel online. It was a bit over our- low - budget but we decided to treat ourselves. We could not have been happier. The staff were excellent. There was always someone available if we had a need or problem and several spoke excellent English. The breakfast was very good- a choice of Thai and Western- or both. The pool was a wonderful relief after the heat of the city. There was even a real ‘ deep end’ to do a few exercises. It was also possible to have cocktails and / or dinner by the pool. I hadn’t realised that this hotel is run in tandem with Lao Airlines. When it was time to leave we could check in at the hotel, our luggage was weighed and we were transported to the airport checkin free of charge. Because we stayed for 2 weeks our room was upgraded on arrival and we were given a free dinner one evening before we left

just finished a 6 night stay at sabaidee@lao hotel. i had a great time there. i originally booked at another hotel, but was much happier with the location of this one. it is just off one of the main roads, so it stays pretty quite. i am always a late riser and leave the room at 1 or 2 pm. this was never a problem for house keeping, and i never had to ask for them to clean the room. all of the staff was friendly and easy to deal with. i ate the buffet breakfast twice, and found it to be your average breakfast, nothing special, but it was not bad either. it is a nice new hotel and it shows as such. the bed was a little firm for me, but that is just personal taste. the last 2 nights there, the wifi was spotty at best, however the rest of the time it was great. there is a massage place next door if you want to go all opulent and spend some big money on a massage, or if you go around the corner just a short bit, there is a traditional lao massage place for a fraction of the cost. i would most definitely stay here again.

Best staff in Laos! They were so thoughtful to present us with a cake to help us celebrate our 10 year anniversary. 8 members of staff surprised us with knock at our door, a delicious cake and wished us a happy marriage. My husband had tears in his eyes. The room was fantastical. If you are classy and wealthy enough for this hotel, you'd be foolish to stay anywhere else. The only thing our room was lacking is a big umbrella on the balcony. It was too hot to sit outside in the afternoon but a nice patio set with umbrella would make it perfect. Also, a selection of plates and glasses in the room would be helpful. I know one can order such things from room service but we hated having to summon someone everytime we needed a clean glass. Thank you to the fantastic staff. We will see you again soon.

I stayed in a former royal residence in Southern Laos back in 2010 so when I learned that Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel is also a former royal residence, I became eager to stay in this hotel on my next trip to Laos. While planning for my trip I found this hotel in the AGODA website so I did not hesitate to book a room. Although the package did not include breakfast my sister and I got a pleasant surprise upon check in when we were told that we can have breakfast at the restaurant on the following day. The warm welcome we received from Jibin, the assistant manager on duty, and the rest of the staff was something we never experienced from any upscale hotel. We even got a personal note from Serge, the manager, when we entered our room. Such gesture of hospitality and generosity is highly commendable and it is obvious that they are willing to go out of their way just to make sure that guests feel at home while staying with them. Because we were extremely happy with the special treatment we received from the management and staff of Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel we decided to stay for another day.

Stayed here for one night and it was a fantastic experience. The staff was very hospitable. Breakfast buffet was nice and had an omelette station/eggs your way made to order. Waitresses very attentive. The rooms are very handsomely appointed. Nice furnishings. Comfortable bed and pillows. Bright bathroom with shower and separate bathtub. The water pressure in the shower was powerful, Hotel provided liquid soaps were nicely scented and sudsy. Washcloths, hand towels, and bath towels were thick and comfy. The room had a very reasonably priced minibar. So reasonable, I couldn’t justify the walk to a minimart with all that convenience in my room. Water, beer, soda, snacks, and fruit juices. Great lighting in the room. Many options for your mood be it work, sleep, daytime, or to relax. Large aircon lobby with cafe. Staff provided us an early check in and a late checkout and kept our bags in storage while I relaxed In lobby before collecting my passport at Thai consulate. They offer complimentary transportation to the riverside after 6pm. Something to consider if you want to see more of the city. We didn’t have a need to leave our street as we found great Thai, Indian, Lao, and Western food on our doorstep so to speak. Delhi Durbar across the street is some of the best Indian anywhere in SE Asia. Classy place too. Nomad Cafe has nice paninis and good coffee. Heading south from Hotel you’ll find a couple mini marts and local food joints. 10/10 would stay again. Pro Tip: If you brought a laptop or device that can connected by HDMI, the wall mounted flatscreen has a line underneath the top shelf.

We loved our time at the BelleRive. Sure it is more expensive than most other places but was so worth it for a romantic getaway. We had one of the loft rooms in the main building, which was a beautiful design, the huge bed upstairs with the bathroom, closet, safe, chairs and minibar below. The building itself is french colonial but well restored, with modern twists to the rooms. The balcony was really nice to sit out on for a drink and relax, and we had drinks delivered to our room from the bar to our balcony.  We got free cold water daily (2 small 1 big bottle but could ask for more) and free cookies, which made my partner feel at home. The shower has a see through glass door so may be awkward if not travelling with someone you are romantically involved with. It is a great shower though the best of our trip. We got free bikes from the hotel, and a map, which reception took us through showing us main attractions. There were also books in our room, including a 2011 guidebook to Laos! Great breakfast choice, both western and Asian. The baguette bread they had was the best we had in Laos. The staff went out of their way to make you welcome, and we ended up extending our stay because we loved luang prabang so much and didnt want to leave the Belle Rive.

this is one of the best located hotel in laos. the building itself was a villa of a lao royal family, and surrounded by historical temples. in a minute walk you will find a river covered by nature. the room was quite well equipped, a good bathtab, shower, hairdrier, etc. it is quiet, except for the gong you hear in early morning from the temple next door, but it is a part of the beautiful stay in laos. one does not have to go out all the way to see monks colletinc alms in the morning. all you have to do it to step outside the hotel premisis. one can certainly enjoy the stay. the breakfast is quite nice. one can look out to see the quiet street and enjoy flowers and trees as well. of cource the nice food. however, one sour comment:inside the wardrove should be better cleaned. otherwise, it was the most beautiful place to stay.

The Golden Sun Hotel. It’s a little old & worn but with character. Inside it reminds me of old Colonial buildings. Nice carved woodwork everywhere. Large open curved stairway to the 1st floor. A lift that works. Pools on both ground & third floors. (third floor pool is warmer.) The room we had was on the 5th floor, which was a very good size, large comfortable bed & was very clean. No Bugs, ants or crawling insects at all during our 6 day stay. The room was serviced daily. Our rooms bathroom had a bath tub with shower & HOT & cold water. The room had a small fridge & tea making equipment plus a TV. The TV signal was weak but watchable. The Internet is not very good, a bit hit & miss. I don’t think the problem is at the hotel but with there server, as the wifi signal itself was strong. The system kept loosing its connection to the server. It’s no worse than Thailands internet. What more can you say. The restaurants menu is a little limited as you only have western food choice. (The wife wanted to try Lao food.) But the food we had was very good. Those people who complain about this place should try a few other Hotels around at the price you are paying. I don’t think you will find one that’s as good value as this place. Like all hotels not every thing is perfect. But so what. Was the bed comfortable? Yes Did I sleep well? Yes. Was it clean? Yes. Was the food good? Yes. Breakfast buffet was great with many choices. Staff in hotel are helpful and always had a smile. Location is just far enough away from all the night life. If you can’t be bothered to walk then there is always the Tuk-tuks or a taxi. I found the best money exchange is a few buildings down from the Tourist Information Center on Lane Xang avenue. It has better rates than the banks. So there we have it. Would I use this hotel again Yes! Enjoy your stay.

Had a comfortable stay in a one bedroom suite, which is more reasonably priced than anything similar you'll find elsewhere in the region. Stayed 3 nights here, after having to stay an unexpected extra night from my originally booked 2 nights. Breakfast was quite good, could have slightly more western choices but it was still very acceptable. Also, proper Lao coffee like Latte or Mocha would have been nice, given Pakse is the gateway to the Bolaven plateau, Laos' main coffee producing region. No time to swim at the pool, instead on the one and only non-business related day I had, went down to the Cambodian border and swam in the Mekong there and also spotted the 3 Irrawaddy dolphins still said to be living on the Lao side. Nice excursion to the Cambodian bank to see the waterfalls from that side too. Nice dim sum dinner at the hotel's Chinese restaurant. Note that unlike Savannakhet, Pakse no longer seems to have any French restaurants. The one mentioned in the LP guidebook is gone.

+ very high standard for a Lao hotel, modern rooms (even though I did not like these grey walls), very nice pool, good quality breakfast (only the croissants are not good), nice atmosphere and nice staff - running trail in fitness center was badly maintained and dangerous, rooms are small, little bit away from the old city (always having to go by shuttle bus) = it is a very good hotel if you want it to be modern and luxurious, I would recommend this hotel

Actually this is a good service apartments with basic facilities such as kitchen, many types of rooms, bar cafe, and gym (No swimming pool). You need to ask the cooking tools from the hotel if you want to use it, but they will ask you how long you will stay and i don't what is the purpose of that question. I also having trouble communicate with their staff for a while until their supervisor come, but they really try to help you which is I really appreciate it. But the good thing, the location is very good that just nearby the Mekong River which is the tourist center (10 minutes walking) also if you need to buy grocery, rest bike/motorcycle, laundry service, restaurants, massage, good bar, gas station, u can find few shops around the place, walking distance. One of the best thing, local people told they served the best burger in Vientiane in their restaurant located on the rooftop. Overall it was a good experience to stay in this place. Hope this can help another traveler later.

We stayed in January 2012 and the hotel was not yet open, this appeared to be reflected in the price we paid so we were OK with that, So the gym was not open, there were no pool chairs etc I suggest if a facility is important and you are going shortly then check before you go. We had a great stay because our bed had was uber comfortable, brand new, as were the sheets, the staff were some of the best I have ever come across. The hotel is in a slightly out of the way location, but very close to one of the better famous and busy restaurants in area down overlooking the river, next door to a huge shopping centre with it's share of fake handbags etc and close to quite a few sushi restaurants. Downsides the hotel has a huge snagging list and the mainly chinese clientele who smoke everywhere, make sure you get a non-smoking room.

We were a group of 3 adults in a triple room with mountain views and balcony. The view was spectacular and the 3rd floor was high enough to get above the surrounding buildings. There is no view of the river though. The staff were super friendly although their english was limited so be patient and polite and everything will be fine. The hotel is a couple of streets away from the craziness of Vang Vieng so it was peaceful on the balcony but still a short walk from the river and bars and restaurants. Breakfast was simple with a choice of noodle soup or eggs and fruit and bread and jam also on offer. The room was clean and the beds were super comfy by rock hard mattresses Lao standard. The bathroom was nice and the shower was warm. Wifi worked ok in the room and better in the lobby. We didn't use the pool. There's the river and the blue lagoons nearby for swimming and sitting by. Would stay again.

Our stay on this hotel upgrade the trip from great to excellent. we arrived very late at 2AM in the morning, but the staff waited for us. we got a place to sleep that night and do the check in paperwork the next day. Staff are friendly and will try to accommodate you as much as they can, i am very impressed. stayed at lovely bungalows, spacious, bathroom with hot water, pool. Excellent Lao meal in the open air restaurant and breads are always fresh, to top it up you'll have your own river and mountain view. i had the best croissant & baguette here. i couldn't wait to come back.

My stay at the hotel was exceptional and allowed me to enjoy the delights of Luang Prabang with the utmost comfort for a decent price - the time and effort they took to decorate the rooms was noticed in the overall quality - really nice ! The staff (as all of Laos) where some of the best in the world - offering the highest service - of course the location was key - in a great location and only a few minutes walk to key locations - plus that early need to wake up and witness the monks walk through town at dawn was only 2mins walk away, allowing you to return for the hotels breakfast at the river side terrace - ohh how special - finally, want to leave in style - book the 15min taxi at the reception and ask for the hotel car - a 1950's classic car - lasting memories from a hotel that knows how to look after it's guests - top marks Burasari Heritage !

It was average at best. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's in the center of town and super convenient for tourist. You can walk to get a massage, eat, and shop. Laos people are super nice by nature but the staff needs professional training. I understand the language very well and can hear them speak to each other. They lack tack, proper chain of command and just simple HOTEL professionalism training. The rooms were decently sized, the TV a little small but the repairs were tacky. Holes in the ceiling and just make shift repairs, not worthy of a nice 4 star hotel. We stayed on the 3rd floor, which is one floor above the dining area. Every time someone moves a chair, we hear the scraping on the floor noise. It's quite irritating and wakes you up every morning. Also, the Chinese guest are so loud in the hallways. Also, they charge us an additional $10 for bringing in guest. I think that's unnecessary for a 4 star hotel.

The complex is in very good condition for a jungle style facility if you are active and would like to see the remote north of Laos this is as good as it gets, do not expect a 5 star city hotel in this location or at these prices, they do not exist, but this is the best realistic option, hard to fault, friendly staff excellent English speaking French manager 'Ben' Must have cost a fortune to set up and build. Great views, free bike hire, well organised Airport pick up by hotel staff running 3 x Toyota mini buses if required

Savannakhet does not have a huge range of hotels but this is one of the best ones in terms of size and facilities. Sited on the banks of the Mekong, a little way from the centre of town, it is popular with both local dignitaries and travelling foreign organised parties touring Laos. There was even a complete film crew staying when we were there. I spoiled us by booking a suite and wasn't disappointed. It was very spacious with great views over the river. It also had a Jacuzzi built for two (it could have fitted three) which was innovative! Breakfast was good and plentiful and we did eat in the restaurant a couple of times in the evening and was pleasantly surprised by some of the dishes available. The hotel is a little way from town but not too far from the night market area where there are some excellent restaurants for all tastes but with a lovely French ambiance. The hotel can transport you around or you can get a tuk-tuk Was there for four nights in all and would stay again

We extended our stay at the Riverresort as we loved it so much. After traveling through Laos for a month this was a welcome retreat with an amazing setting by the Mekong and an infinity pool to admire e views. The villas are clean, beautiful and feature an outdoor shower and nice verandas. The food is fantastic and easily the best I had in Laos, if a bit pricey. There isn't really any other option for dining nearby (to my knowledge), so you're bound to the resort - this was fine by us as we loved relaxing there. Location is truly off the beaten track- best to contact them for a pick up from Pakse if you're coming from the North. We had some issues finding it as onward transport from Pakse is difficult. Most drivers didn't want to take the new toll road that goes directly to the resort, or they didn't know about it. This is much quicker than established route on the other side of the river. Also note that when were were there the phone number provided with Agoda's booking was incorrect, we notified the resort. The place only opened end of 2011 so everything is still very new, but operations are still expanding. Overall we loved staying there- fabulous food, great villas, friendly staff and amazing sunset views over the Mekong. Definitely recommended!
