I've stayed in 100+ hostels in multiple countries..”

And I've never felt the urge to leave a review. Until now. This hostel, for the past 1 week, has felt like home. The people who run this place and work here are so kind, so nice, and this is genuinely the best hostel I've stayed in in Australia. Everyone is super friendly. Relaxed, no pressures on anything. Check out time is meant to be 10am, almost daily i've been staying past that time and paying day to day. Every single time I stay in a hostel in Melbourne, it will be this hostel. My private room for $50 has been absolutely brilliant, couldn't ask for more. can't reccommend this place highly enough. And no i'm not connected with any of the people here. Truly, truly . This is the place to stay.

Pro & Con review”

Although it is always the cheapest in Melbourne, but not worth the money spent. However it located in CBD, one of the best location. Cleanliness are acceptable. Staff service are nothing more than mediocre. Facilities are the worst compared to all hostel I have lived in entire the Melbourne. The room is stuffy, the bed is painful to sleep, there is no cushion. It is just like a thin sheet of clothes cover over a tonnes of metal springs, need to place blanket below to cushion it and decrease the pain while laying on the bed. But there are water depenser, walk-in fridge, and a very small shared kitchen. There is no evaluator. However beware, there is a lot of problematic people hanging around there. People are less considerate. Avoid engage in any conflict with them. Lots of police case ongoing.

Convenient Location, Limited Comfort”

The hostel is conveniently located in the heart of the CBD, making it easy to access shops, restaurants, and public transport. However, the lack of air conditioning in the room was a downside, as we had to leave the window open for ventilation, which affected privacy and comfort. Additionally, there was no kitchen available, which made meal preparation challenging. While the location is excellent, the amenities could be improved for a more comfortable stay.

I am a seasoned traveller, and I have to say, apart from being an old building, there's not much to complain about. This building is located very near the Victoria Market some 2oo metres away ,and the Vic Market was built 145 years ago,so this building would have been built to cater for country people for board and lodging for country people....it's been refurbished 20 years ago and may need an upgrade.. it's clean sort of ,bed is good and comfortable...there's a kitchen that I don't use . but that's my choice. Visitors from overseas have to realise it's not the Savoy plaza in.Park Lane.....it's a HOSTEL not a HOTEL ,so bring your own soap and towels.......and bring your mother and a box of tissues to wipe your nose if you can't cope . And it's quiet ,which suits me fine....bit of traffic noise but you get that anywhere. OVERALL I GIVE A RATING OF 6.5 ..

Not up to Australian standards. Morbid”

The Elizabeth asks customers to bring only the pillow case downstairs. I watched new customers sleep on needs that had previous customers fitted sheet and doona cover. There are people living, in the rooms, but there is only off the ground storage for a bag each, so the floor is just grocery style bags all over the floors, from very well lived in bunks, covered in make shift linen cladding. I woke up with a swollen leg. It was a spider bite that caused cellulitis and rash and required a trip to a hospital. There's a element of homeless living there, that lurk, signs in the walls declaring unusual requests that relate to customers, that no hotel or hostel should have tolerated. It's foreign management/ owners or what not, aren't reciprocating their proceeds into maintenance and now or even in the beginning it needed a full renovation to come up to legal requirements for a accomodation. It's fire hazard, each room needs a pest inspection and clean out, no one knows who's bags are who, so without a clean out, there could be mouldy food, anything, Morbid, is the best word. On the other hand Receptionist is nice and can speak English well.
