Hotels near Ao Wong Duean

My wife and I booked this through Agoda. We got it for almost 50 % cheaper than if we had booked direct with the resort. So Do not book direct with them, never ever...they won't even match the Agoda price if called direct...I tryed...what can I say, they are silly like that.. Anyway the resort is the only one to have their own office and check in counter at the pier. This is really good ! No need to get harassed by all the local crooks who will try to sell you super expensive speed boat tickets because they have their own boat as well. Basically they will check you in and transport you right to the foot steps of the hotel. No sweat. The resort itself it top notch. No questions asked, much better than all the other places we've seen in the area. The rooms are clean, 4 stars hotel like. It's all there. The garden is superb too. No need to request to be by the sea. You are close enough. The pool is clean and it's a good alternative to the sand. The beach is nice, white and clean, and has enough privacy. It's location is in my opinion the best of the island. It has it all there. The included breakfast (only on agoda, if not it's extra $$$) is great. One of the best I have seen in Thailand. I would definitely return there. It's by far the best value for money, the best resort, the best everything. If you book direct then, it becomes way too expensive, so don't forget, only book on line. The only downer was the fact that they decided to implant their work shop right in the middle of the resort....which means you get to hear a bit to often some work and constructions noises, a NO NO !!! But other than that, yup, great place go for it you will love it !!

On an island notorious for poor value, Samed Cabana Resort was a real find. Its location is literally right in front of where the Ao Wong Duean ferry drops you off, making it possibly the easiest resort on Ko Samet to reach. The bungalow we had was very comfortable and well-designed with a TV, fridge, and nice, modern looking bathroom. It was clean and the bed was soft (by Thai standards). The pool was a welcome bonus too. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise with plenty of choices, including an egg station, potatoes, waffles and plenty of delicious Thai dishes. The only negative was that wi-fi can only be accessed in the lobby/restaurant area and that has a tendency to make the seating area over-crowded with internet-surfing people, especially in the morning and evening hours. The resort would be well served to expand wifi usage throughout the property.

I booked the suite it came with two king Beds and seating area. Large covered patio over looking Ao Cho but my hotel actually located in Ao Wong Duean. It is perfect location between two beaches. Breakfast is very basic and they young girl cooking the eggs does not seems happy and not understand what you ask for. The older one is better. Water in Ao Wong Duean is super clean and calm but I think next Beach Ao Cho may be little better. nightly fire show start at 7pm is not to miss

Picking the best deal on offer does tend to get you a room at the back, but that was only a problem when the electricity went off one evening. Of the three places I've stayed in Wong Duan, this was probably the nicest room. The only criticism I have is that the buffet breakfast was only available when there were a lot of people staying, the other mornings I had to order from a limited breakfast menu. In retrospect, I'm sure that if I had asked for something else (i.e. cereal), they would have got it for me. When I went to reception to extend my stay, they rounded down their walk-in price to what Agoda was showing. I may well come back here again.

For pros, the rooms are clean and modern. The location on Ao Wong Duan beach is a happy medium between the over crowded Sai Kaew (a beautiful and lively beach it is though!) and the quiet Ao Prao. Lots of places to eat and chairs available for lounging at no extra charge. The only con would be the service. While the workers were not rude or incompetent at all, they seemed indifferent to helping us or showing hospitality. It felt more like we were an inconvenience than welcome customers and visitors. A bit more genuine friendliness would go a long way in drawing me back for another stay.

We stayed at the bellhouse for 5 days 4 nights. We booked a standard room, it was small but big enough for us 2. The room was clean and had a good soft bed with soft pillows. The shower had clean warm water and good pressure. We had some problems with the wifi, we could always connect to their signal but we didnt always had connection. Sometimes i had internet and my gf not and other times my gf had internet and i not. Seemed to me like there was a limited nr of people that could use the wifi. if the wifi worked correctly i would give this price a 9/10 for the 1050 bath i paid for the room. The location is also good, a 1-2min walk from wongdeun beach. It isnt the best beach on the island but has many restaurants and beach chairs. Wongdeun is in the middle of the island so the location is also good if you want to check out the other beaches. Best you rent a moterbike on the pier, the price there is 300bath/day and everywhere else on the island they ask 400-500 bath. My favorite beaches are ao wai and ao prao, both only few min to go to by moterbike.
