Hotels near Independence Monument

We stayed for one night and booked the hotel again for our return stay from Siem Reap for another 2 nights. The first experience was just ok nothing fantastic. But for the return stay I must say that it left us with a good impression. We would like to thank the wonderful staff for their service even when we were a bit fussy especially Kimsour (FO supervisor), Pissey(reception) Pak Kong(driver) Sokim (Skybar asst mgr). Hopefully i spelt them correctly. These few gave fantastic service, better than 5 star hotel service. On top of that they gave us service recovery for the hairdryer incident on the 1st stay. Our last thanks goes to Julien the Operations Manager who answered my questions via emails from the time i booked the hotel till the end of our stay. We will not hesitate to come back again and recommend our friends.

I booked this hotel for the swimming pool and it didn't let me know at all. Totally worth it! My friends and I enjoyed the swimming pool and the service a lot. You can borrow towel, order drinks at the pool. The only thing you have to do is enjoying the sunshine and the view. The staff are all very nice and helpful. We only have one night and the schedule is pretty tight. The staff recommended us places to go in limited time. They also help us to book the river cruise. Also the location is close to Central Market, Independent Monument where you can find restaurants, bars, and France Maison, which is better area. I will come back to this hotel for the next time in Cambodia.

We have stayed at the Himawari previously and were looking forward to our return. We arrived early and were shown to our room. We realised it was not the type of room we had booked so we called reception. No problem about changing but we'd have to wait. No problem though, we could just stay in that room for an hour or so. Tuktuk to town is only $2 and it's easy to walk from here to the palace, Independence Monument, street 240. We booked a car to pick us up at the airport - $12 for two people. Good value.

After 3 days at the hotel booked via Agoda, I decided to stay 4 more days at the hotel. All staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and well arranged. Clean swimming pool (though a little small). Safe and quiet location. Close to Independent monument and many restaurants (Khmer, Vietnamese, Japanese, western). Breakfast is ok, but not diverse (kind of breakfast set, not buffet). I stayed in Phnom Penh in 1 month for my business and tried several hotels: Goldiana, Cambodiana, Plantation, Bougainviller, White mansion. Underhere is my quick review of those I stayed in: 1. White mansion: nice staff, good service, great room, clean swimming pool, good location (definitely will stay) 2. Plantation: nice staff, good service, small room, clean swimming pool, good location (will stay) 3. Cambodiana: big hotel, not nice staff, ok service, big room, ugly swimming pool, very good location (never stay) 4. Goldiana: small room, not nice staff, ok service, ok swimming pool, ok location (might stay) 5. Bougainviller: very big room, noisy street, not nice staff, good location, no swimming pool (never stay)

Pleasant stay. Central location, most sites are within walking distance (Royal Palace, Museum, Independence Monument). If you don't want to walk there is no shortage of tuk tuks. Breakfast was good and staff were helpful in suggesting restaurants to eat at. We also had a friend's birthday, the staff assisted with storing the cake until we needed it. There was also an incident, the curtains fell from the rack, we called reception and it was promptly fixed.

Staying at the Cambodiana is like a little time travel back to the 70s or so when the hotel was built. It offers much space inside and a nice outside area with garden and riverfront. The room was pretty big and the kingsize bed big and very comfortable. Waking up with the sunrise over the Sap and Mekong rivers was just great. Technologically, the room was certainly not state of the art, but everything worked properly. The bathroom could need some renovation to make it look nicer. The staff I had to do with was very nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet had everything one could expect if used to international standards. Locationwise, the hotel is within a walking distance of roughly 15min to the Royal Palace, the Independence Monument, various temples, the riverfront area with its many restaurants and bars as well as a Casino. Two things to beware: 1) Better check twice if a car that you booked with the hotel is indeed booked. After my arrival at the airport, I had the tourist information call the hotel to send the car I thought I had ordered before. But two other car services went without any trouble. 2) The wifi policy of the hotel is a bit weird: There are different packages to book and pay for. In my roomrate was included a 24 hour wifi use within seven days. After that, I would have paid $15 for another such package. The quality of wifi differs depending on where exactly you are in the hotel and when exactly you try to use it. I think it is surely smoother to buy a local SIM-card. To sum up: When I travel to Phnom Penh again, the Cambodiana will surely be my top choice again.

I stayed here for one night. The hotel was clean and modern. It also has a gym, which I didn't realize during the booking process, and which looked small but modern. The best part of the hotel is the rooftop pool - it has a nice view and since there are no trees surrounding it, you'll avoid the usual fight against mosquitoes. Another thing I didn't realize during the booking process: The jungle addition is in a separate part down the street. So if you want easy access to the nice rooftop pool, you'll need to select the non-jungle rooms.

We were here over the new year's holiday - for a couple of nights. hubby and i got really sick due to food poisoning but that is no fault of the hotel. we must of ate something bad outside. this hotel is absolutely stunning and spotless. nothing bad to say about it. breakfast was super. we booked the City Grande room and oh my word its just the best looking room we've ever been in. bed and pillows were so so comfy we slept like babies. they had a jacuzzi in the room but we didnt get to use it. staff were marvellous. always greeting you with a smile and very very helpful. we commute via tuk tuks they were really cheap anyway. we enjoyed our stay tremendously and if we ever return to PP we will deffo stay here again!

I had the best time at this hotel and we even scored a mobile deal! Before getting here, I read the reviews and someone was critical of a few things, so I came keeping my expectations level, and I realized afterwards that the person who wrote that was seriously way too used to the fancy life. This is easily one of the nicest hotels I have had the privilege of staying in. The street that people complain about is also not that bad. There are just some local food stalls. It's what you commonly see on the streets. Do yourself a favour and book this..I've never had better for under 20$ (and 30when we extended our stay). The staff were excellent too. All great!!

It was our very first stay in Cambodia and we arrived late in Phnom Penh Airport. The hotel arranged us a driver for a reasonable price and everything worked out perfectly. The front desk was very welcoming and helpful. The room was a big suriryse. Very clean, fully equipped and lots of space. The location is fantastic. In waking distance to The Independence monument, many good restaurants and the nightly public dancing in the Wat Botum Park. Also the Royal palace and surrounding is easy to reach. The TukTuk drivers in front of the hotel can be a bit offensive but it’s easy to get away from them. The hotel has a nice little pool that the kids loved. The breakfast was included in our room rate and it is outstanding! Fresh juices (can be made without sugar too) and a good selection of western and traditional dishes. Plus the staff is so friendly, especially as a family we felt so welcomed and well looked after. The hotel has been recommended to us and we will recommend it too.

This hotel is not easily visible off the main street, but it's located right beside the Frangipani Villa. Generally it's a quiet place and has a nice infinity pool with lounging areas and sunbathing chairs (also used for massages). The restaurant is decent for breakfast and average for lunch/dinner. Just make sure you ask for very, very rare steak if you want it done medium. It's in a relatively quiet area, and various sites are within walking distance (such as the Independence Monument and Silver Pagoda / Royal Palace) -- although it could be tough in the daytime heat. The rooms overlooking the pool have balconies. There's a small safe in the room for valuables, but not big enough for a typical laptop. The bathroom only provided a couple of small soap bars, so it's a good idea to bring your own toiletries. Overall, it's a decent place, and the staff are accommodating and can help with arranging trips (e.g. Chuong Ek Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng). The owner (I believe, who is French) seemed to be a nice person too, and can help out if there are any communication issues with the staff (who seem new to the job).

There's a Kha Vi Villa and a Kha Vi Guesthouse. I think they are under the same owner. Kha Vi Villa is newer and comes with individual rooms and Kha Vi Guesthouse is dormitory style. Both are in a great location. Location is great, right beside Grand King Hotel but you paid less. Kha Vi Villa has a small pool and bar at the ground level. Room is spacious and comfortable. Clean hotel with standing shower. Shampoo and shower gel provided in dispenser. TV channels are plenty. For breakfast, you have a fruit juice with coffee/tea and you can choose an item from the menu selection like Pancakes, Omelet, American breakfast and noodle soup. Wifi is not that stable, comes on and off. Service is great as they are very friendly and accommodating but service can be slow at times. Had dinner at the hotel and we waited 1 hour for our food. From hotel to Royal Palace, it's only 5 mins walk, 20 mins walk to the riverfront and also 15 mins walk to Nagaworld. Lots of Tuk Tuk right outside the hotel. So transportation is not an issue. Hotel has no lift so if you don't like climbing the stairs, try to ask for a room in the lower floors. Overall, a clean hotel that's centrally located and comes at a great value.

Used to be that breakfast would be included and I booked this time thinking it would be the same. But surprise, I was billed by the hotel for breakfast. Indeed this was noted in the Agoda booking voucher. So the hotel is trying to be competitive by making breakfast optional. Thus the costs per night has gone down. They should also check the aircon. The wind is too strong and no matter how I adjusted the remote control, the wind strength was the same.

This is a basic 3 star hotel (add half a star for Cambodia standards) in a central location and right next to the best coffee in Phnom Penh at the Bloom Cafe. Our room size was very large with a huge bed and ensuite bathroom. Staff were helpful and easy to talk to. Did not use the pool but it looked OK. Central Market and other attractions are a short Tuk-Tuk ride away but be prepared to negotiate the price before you leave.

Good location with easy access to Royal Palace, Independent Monument and other tourist site like riverside where there are many restaurants. The view from the Sky Bar is really great both in the morning and night with the Tonle Sap and Mekong River just across the road. More of a service apartment hotel type and breakfast serving is with Japanese and Western style. Though not too much of choice, but the taste is great. Although this trip was being assign to a room on a lower level, but it was pretty quiet and look forward to stay in this place on the next trip.
