Hotels near Old Swiss Inn

I am an American who lives a pretty good life in the Philippines, used to nice hotels and great food. I read many reviews about the Bayview Park Hotel, many of which were negative left by foreigners. I am going to attempt to set the record straight from a foreigners perspective. 1. If you are thinking that the Bayview is a 5 star hotel, expecting a 5 star experience, then you are going to be severely disappointed. 2. If you are expecting a very nice hotel for $50 a night with everything you need, then you will be very happy. Lies and Rumors: 1. #706 on the Superior Room Rate without Breakfast. 2. The Staff are wonderful. The people who said that they were rude must not have grumpy because they were extremely nice to us and everyone else. 3. The Hotel does NOT smell, it smell just fine. 4. The rooms are NOT small, they are very large. 5. The bed was a little hard but not too hard. Nice bed. 6. Additional comforters and pillow are available on request for free. 7. The rooms are older but newly updated. They have a fridge, a nice bed, newly painted walls, a really nice bathroom and everything you can want. 8. The AIRCON / Air works GREAT. We had to turn it down because it was so powerful. 9. The location is perfect. We were going to the embassy which is literally steps away from the hotel, but it is also central to everything. 10. Starbucks is in the same building. 11. Chowking, 7/11 and Yellow Cab are about 75 steps away 12. WIFI is available in more expensive rooms but ours was turned on for free. Typically 350 per day. 13. Breakfast was not included in our room because we got the $60 after taxes rate but typically 450 per person in the morning. It seems like a bit steep for the selection so I would NOT get the breakfast package.

The staff's quality of service is like that of a 5-star hotel. All of them are very accomodating and very kind to requests. The room is okay. The breakfast is ala carte but the taste is good/satisfactory. I was a solo traveler and my room has 2 breakfast, I was offered to take the 2 or take the other meal as lunch which was favorable for me. There was no complimentary bottled water in the room, however they offer service water that can be taken to your room. The hotel's location is very near robinson's mall. Overall, it was worth it.

Until recently it was unthinkable to get such a good quality for such a low price in Manila. This excellent new hotel openend in Nov. 2017 and is really outstanding. Rooms are small but you get all you need: Refrigerator, Safe, Hairdryer, wonderful beds - and all is new. The only setback are the thin walls if you are unlucky enough to have a noisy neighbour. This hotel certainly belongs to the safest hotels you can find here - also thanks to the latest new Swiss technology by Schindler elevators. And all the staff is always very friendly, helpful and very efficient.

They actually replaced the elevator. It's no longer the rediculously slow one you will read about in old reviews. It's new, modern, fast, and best of all no longer a lurking disaster waiting to happen. Right across the street from a 7-11, nag inasal rice place, and jolibee burger joint. Around the corner from the red light district and a big mall. Close to US embassy, and a reasonable drive to the airport. Has an in hotel restaurant that is decent, but affords a price premium. Our most recent stay got us upgraded to a free corner suite, I'm guessing because all the normal rooms were booked. Depending on what room you stay in your view is either of a wall of an adjacent building, which sucks, but its quite. Or a nice view up and down the main strip, but you get the city noise from the street, which I personally enjoy and find comforting. But it could bother some. Bathroom shower has hot water, actually good water pressure, and is the fall down from the ceiling type which is nice. However the suite have an old fashioned fiber glass bathtub and shower curtain in them which i dislike. The standard rooms have the walk in glass stall with tile floor, much better. Why you would equip the superior suite with the crappier shower I don't know, but minor con all in all. I have not found a better hotel to stay at in manila yet, especially for this price point of about $ a night.

Again, I will say the same thing about this hotel. It is one of the best I have ever stayed in as far as value for the money. Due to the location, it is not as good as some in Manila, for example, Makati area, etc. But, it's not a dangerous area and has a McDonalds in walking distance and an inexpensive laundry just around the block, about 200 yards walk. Again the food is outstanding, by the standards of any country. Chef Chris is a Swiss chef who has generally mastered Italian cuisine, with some Filipino dishes added. Of course, no burgers or French Dips here! Its risotto or pasta, and some of his trademark flatbread pizzas, which are quite large and having some rich cheeses and ingredients. For burgers and more standard food, the Robinsons Mall is really not far away; by taxi or motor trike, 100 pesos is all, and in about 3-10 minutes, depending on traffic. Enjoy the malls in the Philippines, they are like Oases, for Filipinos and travelers. There is an ice skating rink in the MOA in Manila and so much to see. Service at Oasis is always great, even though staff is quite young. My second stay I had a shower that wouldn't drain so I told them immediately and then someone came and fixed it. As far as value for the money, this place is a 5. overall, I give it a solid 4. beautiful rooms, great home made ice cream in the lobby, made by Chef Chris restaurant for only 100 pesos, coffee too; lunch and sandwiches served during the day, from the Chef Chris chalkboard menu; laundry done at the hotel, but sometimes too slowly because they ship it out; nice pool and patio, and very clean rooms with nice wood on white colors and design. nice open and spacious showers also. Location is set away from main shopping areas, but it is also not aside a busy street. so, this hotel is very quiet, near a park called Paco Park, which is a memorial park and museum for Jose Rizal. Value for money, and near Ermita. Great place to stay.

Yes, the hotel is old and gray, but the service it provides is very remarkable, which is the reason why this hotel consistently gets good rating and people keep on coming back to them. We booked an executive room - very spacious, clean and decent. They cleaned our room without us telling them to do so and all stocks were replaced and used toiletries were replenished. The room smells refreshing and relaxing. The employees were all-smiles and greeted us whenever we see them wherever. They attended to our needs right away, again with all smiles and respect. Parking was just in the street but security guards attended to the vehicles and ensured everything's well.

the hotel is strategically located in the busy city of manila. if you want value for your money with just the right room amenities then this hotel will be up for it. what i like about my room was that it was clean, the toilet and baths have hot and cold shower too. the best thing about this hotel is that they provide free wifi access which helps me check my facebook, news, and reservations/bookings that i have made online. i can confidently recommend this hotel to my friends, families, and basically to everyone.

I booked my parents in this hotel because we used to book our stay here way back from 2000 - 2006. It's been a while and they asked me to book in this hotel again. I was a bit sketchy about it and not sure of the place because we don't know how it has been. I read reviews and some people loved the service but still, I wasn't feeling comfortable risking the stay of my parents as they just had a bad experience a while ago to another hotel. I took the risk and booked here. I requested a quiet room for my elderly parents. Fortunately, they were happy with their stay. The room that was given to them was fairly new. Very clean, spacious, and quiet room. Service was great too. Mom and Dad was really happy and comfortable. They said to book here next time again and that's the only thing I wanted to hear from them. The hotel is an old building, but when you go inside, the room, bathroom, elevator, its not. The Superior King room is big, very spacious and nice interiors. The bathroom is very modern. Bed and pillows are very comfortable, 5 star hotel quality. The corridor is just dark, so maybe they should consider adding more lights. But I commend the staff for giving us the best Customer Service experience, checking in and out was very fast, they took note of my requests very well, like the baby cot and extra pillows. And the employees are very courteous and friendly. The only issue here is the limited parking space, though the guard is nice enough to reserve a slot for me.

We specifically booked at Pearl primarily because it's close to Manila Doctors Hospital. We booked their superior room. I would say, it is value for money. The room is clean and it looks like it has just been recently refurbished. The bathroom is decent. It's clean. They provide toiletries too which I appreciate so much. The free breakfast that comes along with the reservation is okay too. It's obviously an old hotel. Set your expectations that apart from the room, everywhere else is outdated. Seven Seas has a tiny buffet table and the Oyster Bar looks lonely. I've seen some old reviews about their restaurants too so I guess, the management doesn't plan to reinvent them anytime soon. The pool is okay. It's nothing special but it's decent. I can't say the same for the shower rooms though. Overall, it was a good stay. Value for money.

I booked for a 6 day stay initially. I was so happy with the hotel I ended up staying an extra week. The room had everything I needed. Fridge, stove/oven, very comfortable bed, on 14th floor so no street noise, A big window that I could open and smell the sea and what a great view down past Makati, to MOA and back towards the city of Manila. My aircon was cold and quiet the shower was HOT water with good flow. Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels and bed linen done and floor was swept and rubbish removed. The staff here are so good, I tipped them all which is rare for me! Overall the hotel is older and does need some freshening up, but the foyer is immaculate and the elevators are fast and modern. The hotel has a cafe and bar/restaurant,,,, I didn't use as I had my own cooking, bur from outside it was very new, clean and glitzy and they had plenty of customers so that is always a good guide. I was so happy that after I went and did my business in Laguna I cam back for another week. I won't be staying in any other hotel now, this is my home away from home now. I paid only $41AU a night, no deposit asked for and it was terrific value. Apart from looks I would rate this a 3 to 4 star place, it just lacks the La De Da for 5 stars. Places close by are Robinsons Mall 5mins (walk), Moa 10 mins by taxi about 100php, Ocean Park 10 mins, casino 5mins, 100's of restaurants around, and Manila Bay Walk is across Roxas Boulevard via a pedestrian bridge. L.A bar in one block away if you want to watch the footy or have a dance, just dodge the bar girls and you will be right.. they are friendly and won't annoy you if they understand you just there for a drink. Touts and beggars are everywhere in Malate, you get used to saying "no peso" it is a few pickpockets that you need to watch for, and they are children about 11yo...okay!!! Anyways hope this review helps you and enjoy your stay in Manila. C ya!

For anyone having there doubts about where’s a good hotel you need to look no further I stayed here 4 times n will continue coming to this hotel .For one thing they have a elevator to where others you have to walk up a flight of stairs n he rooms are nice n clean you get free breakfast n let me tell you it’s out of this world great .The staff very friendly n your 2 blocks away from the SM Mall to .of course there’s free WiFi n they have a computer in the lobby you can use to .belive me when I tell you this have stayed in a lot of hotels n there have been some I called The Hotel From Hell cause looking at the place online was nice but getting there n finally seeing the room omg what a dump So don’t even think about The Manila Hotel that place is filthy So I recommended if you want a hotel n friendly staff Silver Springs is the best it’s a 10 plus hotel n I’ll book there anytime I go to Manila

The hotel is quiet old and have that musky smell of an old building. But once you get inside the room the smell is gone. The receptionist could not find my booking so I should her my copy. I requested a room that is not facing the street but they put us on one so it was hard to get some sleep at night as I can hear cars passing by. But I love the location as it is just a walking distance to Rizal Park and really near the tourist spots of Manila as my purpose for coming is to tour around my 7 year old niece.

Location good for me – I like this area – been many times. Took room on 4th floor as was supposed to have a safety box – there was not but too tired to change – they should have safety boxes in more of the rooms anyway The room was spacious room, air-con good – had fridge, bench and sink small table to work on Beds comfy enough, room clean and serviced daily The towels have reached their use-by date – lash out please and buy some new ones – they are cheap enough in Robinsons which is very close by Plenty of restaurants bars and nightlife close by too Small TV with limited channels but one OK News Channel Al Jazeera Breakfast was included but limited selection -- Also that area is on the roof and very hot – if closed in and air-conditioned could be a good cafeteria and people not only guests would use – please look at that idea. Staff are all very helpful Wi-Fi is ok on Mobile but couldn’t pick up my laptop Overall place is good value for money They dont take credit cards Cash only

It's just 1 minute walk ( or less) going to St Luke's. I checked in here with my 9 yr old son, we stayed for 4 nights and 5 days for our medical for U.S visa. We stayed in their Standard Queen room, compared to other hotels where I usually read they go to for medical at St Luke's I will not mention the name :) this is is far better. It really pay's to educate yourself and research on your own rather than listening to other feedbacks, room wise, distance and cost, this is far better and cheaper. The pro's, it's near St Luke's, spacious room ( we stayed in 8th flr), plus factor is the bath tub ( relaxing after a long day ), customer service is ok, the hotel is near Ministop, Puregold grocery, and restaurants, ambiance is good, it has a "cozy feel", bed and blanket are good, they have small fridge,hot and cold shower, our over all stay is great. The negative, they have big noisy air condition (old), they don't have restaurant ( they can give you list of delivery restaurant you can use their phone to call manila hotline), they have 1 electric socket I don't know why? ( bring extension cord to charge your electronic devices). The location of the hotel is safe, it's not in the "shady part" if you have a minor child with you, I think location is very important.

if want somewhere near the us embassy or immigration, this is one of the best hotels i've stayed its not only the hotel rooms but the staff were so accommodating your needs friendly and as well you can ask simple help from this hotel, not only that me and my hubby were just enjoying it here caused it was just walking distance from robinsons mall and aside from it although its far from my project site but it was near to our follow ups at the immigration, the buffet breakfast was satisfying and the food was scrumptious indeed if have good taste yes it was real fine dining in this hotel. soon we will be booking here again caused its one of the best we had and one of the nicest thing was staff was accommodating to all of their guest. couple on a break

This is going to sound cliche but my review is going to start with: As far as budget hotels go... And here we go... As far as budget hotels go, Go Hotels Ermita isn't too bad... Their location is near food places, near Robinson's Ermita and GrabCar drivers don't have a hard time looking for it... The room is quite small but enough for a place to put your luggage and hang your clothes... An SBD is provided as well.. The bathroom is split in two: Toilet and sink on one side while the shower is on the other side... Hot water was running for the sink.. Couldn't find it with the shower (yes, we twisted the handle to check for the water temp changes.) The room is clean enough and their housekeeping service is on point: Cleaning our room, making the bed and replenishing our daily 2 bottles of complimentary water.. Food is prohibited in the rooms.. If you get the munchies, you'll have to go down to the lobby where their cafe is... Wifi is fast and good enough for your Facebook and Youtube needs... Throw in a little Mobile Legends there as well... There is a breakfast offered but it may be a first come, first served thing as we were turned down at 8am stating there wasn't enough for us anymore... Mind you, i dont eat much and neither do my 8 and 11 year old.. The receptionist were nice and good-natured.. Pretty well-kept, i have to say... However, they need to learn how to properly respond to inquiries from Agoda bookings.. I sent a few inquiries via this app and they remain unanswered to this day... Overall, its not a bad hotel to stay at... You get what you pay for

Friendly staff specially the security guard Jake who made sure I get a room even when it was 4:00 o'clock in the morning when I arrived at the hotel. It's an old hotel but surprisingly I've seen no roaches during my stay. The a/c works fine. There's a small refrigerator and an electric hot water heater that comes handy. The place is a walking distance to just about anything. A 7-11 store down stairs. A fast food restaurant less that 100 meters away. A Catholic Church across the street. Robinson's mall a few blocks away. And public transportations right at your doorsteps .

The hotel is old but when it comes to cleanliness,it is very well maintained. The room is spacious and there's an elevator also. The hotel staff were approachable & kind especially the Room Attendant Luis(if im not mistaken). He worked there for more or less 20 years already (GOOD MANAGEMENT I GUESS). He attends to our needs very well and help us if we need anything and he is smiling & that makes us feeling great. The guard also is very helpful to their guest. He even look for a taxi since it was raining. He is smiling also. * Maybe they could improve the shower knobs to save water since, the water pours on the lower part when you tun it on for a shower or could put a sign on how to use to conserve water. * The tissue placed inside the CR was used and not been replaced before we enter the room but has a spare placed inside the room. * Parking space is very limited, we had a hard time looking for a space. RECOMMENDABLE PLACE. WE WILL SURELY BE BACK.

The main reason my wife and I stayed at this hotel was because it it very close to the US Embassy. Its about an 8 minute walk to the Embassy and to St. Luke's Extension Clinic. The rooms in this hotel are small, and you can easily hear people walking around the hallways, but the cleanliness makes up for these shortcomings. Most hotels at this price are not clean but Hotel Juliano is clean and the shower is hot. If you want a small clean hotel for a cheap price then this is a great choice. If you want to sleep in luxury while spending your time in Manila then this is not your best option.

I liked this hotel and for a three star it is up there with the best. Our room was large and clean. The bathroom was ok, everything worked, and the hot water was HOT! Always a bonus. The restaurant was great having a not only a standard "global" menu but a very nice Italian menu too. I don't normally eat "in" at any hotel I/we stay at but this was to good to pass up, excellent food, at a very reasonable price. One of the few hotels worldwide that I've ever said this about. Will I stay again......sure will :-) On the downside my tv was well past its use by date, an old boxy set with poor pic and sound, also to small for the room. But who goes on holiday to watch tv? The set breakfast wasn't up to much either, not much at all. I would rather pay less for the room and eat out or even be given a voucher in lieu of have the set breakfast and putting it towards a very nice meal in their excellent restaurant in the evening. This is also only the second hotel I have ever stayed in that has direct access to a casino. I don't gamble myself but I'm sure that this feature would appeal to some.

Overall good. Its very close to the US Embassy that was the very reason why we booked it. Its an old hotel, i mean very old hotel. Floors squeaking the hallway. The room is clean and the bathroom has hot and cold shower with toilet paper, shampoo and soap but it has no toothbrush (if that really matters). Friendly staff. Now here's the strange part, at about 5am somebody tried to open the door without knocking. We forgot to unlock the door but the Good thing was that the door guard chain was locked so it was only opened slightly. I rushed to the door and looked at the peep hole, I saw two room boys at the side of the hallway seems to be doing the housekeeping. The other one holding up the bed. I hope it was just a mistake but knowing that they've been working there...its up to you to put the one star off or not.

Moved to this hotel from another in the same neighborhood because I needed to cut my expenses. BP was less than half the price of the first hotel for essentially the same level of accommodations. The "single deluxe" is not what Americans would consider "deluxe." Although the room was spacious, the furnishings were minimal in the extreme--a "single" bed (not a twin) about the size of a cot, a small night stand, one small chair were the only furnishings. The bed was comfortable, and the staff carefully made it up with fancily-folded towel and bedspread. There was a small LCD tv attached to the wall with about 60 cable channels. (Note that none of the hotels I have stayed in in Manila had cable service that provided anything approaching a decent picture. This includes a couple of 4-star hotels.) The room had large windows with nice views of the city. There was a sink in the room, in addition to the one in the bathroom. The bathroom was small but adequate. Everything (except TV cable) worked well. After my initial stay of 3 days, I extended for an additional 3 days instead of moving to a fancier place that I had planned on. I was very happy with these accommodations for the price, and enjoyed several long conversations with the very friendly staff.
