"Superb location. Clean, spacious rooms, helpful staff. I would (read: will likely) book again. II haven in Lao three times, last in Huay Xai before the new bridge was built. As all the immigration traffic, activities are now out of town (about 10 km south), Huay Xai is much chiller than it was. I decided to stay two days—and only headed out as I needed to find a cargo boat heading up (not down!) the Mekong. Huey Xai and Hom Pho Guesthouse are a great way to arrive (or to leave) lovely Lao. "I only booked 1 night as I was getting the slow boat the next day (which the hostel kindly booked for me at a cheap price) The hostel obviously is pretty little! But cosy. The staff are so kind and helpful, the hostel is very clean and quiet, yet sociable. I had laundry done here which smelt great afterward! Would highly recommend, thank you! "

"I think this place is pretty good considering there aren't many options in this small town. It's pretty much right across the street from the Gibbon Experience (if that's why you're there), friendly staff (although they don't speak a lot of English, they were always smiling and helpful when asked), clean enough room (shower not the best, but I've seen worse) & the fuzzy blankets on the bed are definitely not washed for every new guest. The sheets and towels were clean and the room (#2), was large and bright. Also received bottled water & clean towels every day & AC worked great. They also have a small breakfast/sandwich shop downstairs and a little convenience shop where you can grab snacks/batteries/bug spray/rain poncho, etc... Would recommend for budget travelers staying a few nights before/after the Gibbon Experience. "
