"Its an excellent hotel with many facilities like even a swimming park for kids, onsen in basement and even in the rooftop, location is great and rooms have really great views. Buffet dinner and breakfast have pretty good choices. HOWEVER, as its one of the biggest hotel in Jozankei with kids facilities, the main problem is that there is just too many people there, you will spend quite a long time to queue for the buffet dinner, take a long time to wait for the elevator and checking out. The overall feel of the hotel and onsen is much more commercialised and more suited to large groups or couples with family. If its just a couple, there are other quieter hotels with onsen in Jozankei. I would still highly recommend this hotel if you don't mind the crowd."

"We took a bus from JR station not knowing they have a free shuttle from Odori Park. The fare was cheap and we enjoyed looking at all the stops. Using waze when we neared Jozankei the bus stopped outside Jozankei Hotel. We should alight here as Hana Momiji is opposite Jozankei Hitel. But waze says it was still 1.3 KM away. There was no English name Hana Momiji outside the hotel. We alighted more than a km away. We walked and got lost. We arrived at an old folks home who telephoned Hana Momiji to come fetch us. When we arrived at Hana Momiji we could see it was opposite Jozankei Hotel. Checking in. The room was so spacious with tatami.mats. Can sleep six persons if needed. They had mattresses stacked in built in cupboards. We booked a private onsen for an hour. We stayed two nights. Both nights we had Kaiseki dinner and the menu was different. It was so good. The buffet breakfast had everything to make one happy. We will recommend everyone to experience this stay here. Onsen here is the attraction for all visitors. They provide free shuttle to Odori Park and we enjoyed the free shuttle. One of the most relaxing time of our life. Japanese hospitality at its best. "

"Kasho Gyoen is probably the newest most modern and luxurious onsen in the small town of Jozankei. Most of the onsen hotels in Jozankei are old concrete buildings that are eyesores to the quaint mountain town. The pros: Jozankei is a 40-minute bus rise away from Susukino bus station. Kasho Gyoen is modern and luxe, and while the staff struggle with English, everyone makes a sincere effort to make one’s stay fabulous. The onsen is spotless, quiet, serene with great forest views from the spacious room, excellent amenities from the open bar, coffee and tea machine, the bath toiletries had cleansing oil, face moisturizers, toner and the usual soaps. The private onsen is a big tub of modern concrete slab and so relaxing. The bathroom had its own heated towel rack. The dinner that came with our package was exquisite Italian kaiseki with fresh Hokkaido sources ingredients. The wine was superb! They also have a really cool bar and bartender. "
