Although my husband and i were disappointed as we arrived and entered the allocated room due to housekeeping issue, the customer service made sure that we were attended and allowed us to move to another room, given a card note with complimentary drinks. Apart from that, the experience is very satisfactory. After the whole day of galavanting around london, we are relaxed and well rested in our hotel with scrumptious breakfast, complete amenities(my daughter enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool), comfortable king size bed and approachable staffs. Also, The location of the hotel is accessible to underground stations that makes it more easy to travel around. We would highly recommend this hotel.

A cold reception”
The hotel is well located, being a short walking distance to 2-3 tube stations and close to major tourist attractions. Being set back off busier roads nearby it also relatively quiet. In the streets nearby, there are pubs, restaurants and takeaways plus a Tesco Express and Sainsbury’s local. The building is relatively new and is very nicely decorated in both the public areas and the rooms. We had a meal in the restaurant which was very good, and some drinks as well. Other patrons made use of all the public areas and spa facilities so that gave the hotel a comfortable and relaxed vibe. Our room was spacious and well-appointed with a sofa, swivel chair and desk chair, and was in keeping with what you’d expect from a 4 star hotel. The water pressure in the shower was very good and nice and hot but it doesn’t take long to flood the bathroom floor, so you need to be quick. One thing lacking was a nice view – we were directly opposite a vacant office building (we didn’t know it was vacant initially) which meant we couldn’t get much natural light into the room or have any privacy with the curtain open. The other issue was the lack of access to the fridge which was locked shut. According to the hotel room amenities guide, the fridge contained the mini-bar and could be unlocked by leaving your credit card details at reception. We went down to do this in the evening of our first night and was told that the mini bar in our room didn’t work. We were disappointed to not have been told this when we checked in as we could have asked to change rooms so we addressed this with reception on the following day only to be told that none of the rooms had a working minibar/fridge. While this may be true, it seemed strange to us that information relating to the access of the fridge and a comprehensive list of drinks with prices was included in the room amenities guide, if it wasn’t available at all. Some of the extras you could get in your room or request to use was hair straighteners. As with the mini bar, this required a refundable deposit paid by credit card, and they could be kept for the duration of our stay. Unfortunately, getting the deposit returned has taken almost 2 weeks, and 3 separate requests, in person when we checked out, and twice by phone before it was actioned. The biggest disappointment of our stay has been the attitude of the staff at reception. While they are very polite, all but one were unfriendly, cold and somewhat dismissive. As the first point of contact for the guests, it’s not a good representation for the hotel. Inadequate explanations, no apologies and lack of follow through in returning the deposit within the promised time has soured our first experience of the Leonardo hotel chain. Fortunately for the hotel, our interactions with the bar and restaurant staff, housekeeping team and Claudia, who immediately actioned the deposit refund for the hair straighteners and sent an acknowledgement by email, have made up for the failings of the reception staff. The hotel has so much going for it, they just need to remind the reception team how important they are in making a good impression on all of their guests, especially if they want them to return.

Excellent hotel”
We have been to London several times with friends in the past. This time, many years later as grandparents, we treated our adult daughter, our son-in-law and their two teenage daughters for a five day visit from 26 - 31 December. The Leonardo far exceeded any hotel that we have stayed in previously in London. We expected the typical small rooms and miniscule lobby. These rooms were huge compared to other hotels in the past. We booked three Superior rooms with king beds. The girls wanted their own beds which the front desk graciously accommodated for us at no extra charge and in an adjoining room to their parents. The rooms have robes, slippers, complimentary Nespresso coffee, teas, still and sparkling water, cookies, nightly chocolate chip cookies and more. Daily service was excellent. The hotel was full yet we had no difficulty at all with the lifts. The lobby area has more than enough very comfortable seating areas while we waited for an Uber or a Bolt XL. There was complimentary hot chocolate in the lobby as well as choices of apples and flavored waters. The staff was excellent and helpful. We were so busy touring that we never had time to use the spa or the indoor pool but we did take a look and it was really nice. We expect to return in a few years with our other set of granddaughters. We will surely stay here again.

Great, here's a casual Google review based on your experience: --- **Rating:** ★★★★☆ I recently stayed at the Leonardo Royal Hotel and had a mostly great experience. The facilities were top-notch, and everything was super clean, which I really appreciated. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, but I did have a bit of an issue with the front desk. When I tried to check in an hour early, the gentleman at the front desk wouldn't allow it, which was frustrating because we wanted to start our adventure sooner. However, when I called, they assigned me a room right away without any hassle and then I went back and they immediately checked us in. It seems like the front desk staff could work on being more accommodating. One thing to note is that the hotel isn't very close to the major attractions, so be prepared for a bit of travel if you want to explore the main sights. Overall, it's a great place to stay, but a few tweaks could make it even better!

Das Hotel ist sehr gut situiert. 10 Gehminuten von den Ubahnstationen Tower Hill und Aldgate. Die Einrichtungen sind elegant und modern. Ob auf den Zimmern (sehr schöne Badezimmer mit toller Dusche) oder im Foyer - alles sieht sehr schön aus. Check-in und - out war super schnell (wir durften sogar 3 Stunden früher einchecken). Es gibt aber viele kleine Dinge, besonders beim Service, die man besser machen kann. Die Zimmermädchen sind ziemlich unterschiedlich. Ein paar Mal wurde etwa das Bett nicht richtig gemacht. Die ersten 2,3 Nächte hatten wir jeweils ein Dankeschön Biscuit auf dem Bett. Die restlichen 5 Nächte nicht mehr. Weshalb? Das Pijama meiner Frau ist bei einer Zimmerteinigung verschwunden. Im Foyer gibt es frisches Zitronenwasser, jedoch oft ohne Becher. Überhaupt wird im Hotel sehr viel Wegwerf-Papier verschwendet für Kärtchen ect. Im Zimmer gibt es einen Kühlschrank, der jedoch verschlossen ist, da man die Minibars abgeschafft hat. Im Hotelguide, der auf dem Zimmer liegt, wurde das aber nicht angepasst. Als Ersatz gab es im Foyer eine Snackbar, deren Waren man mühsam einzeln an der Rezeption zahlen musste. Warum nicht gleich eine bargeldlose Bezahlung bereitstellen?? Auch im Spa gibt es widersprüchliche Services. Ich hatte eine Tiefengewebe-Massage. Im Menü steht, dass man wählen kann, welche Stellen speziell massiert werden sollen. Die Masseurin darauf angesprochen, sagt, man solle diese Entscheidung einfach ihr überlassen. So wurde meine verspannteste Stelle nicht massiert. Generell ist der Service im Foyer mit Rezeption, Consierge ect. sehr zurückhaltend und passiv. Man wird kaum begrüsst beim rein und rausgehen. Kurz zusammengefasst: Das Hotel ist schön. Aber das Personal ist definitiv nicht "royal". Da gibt es noch viel zu lernen. Im Umgang mit den Leuten, umd auch im Achten auf Details.
