The room was clean as well as the bathroom , $8 per towel is a bit expensive , the kitchen cleanliness Was not good it needs to be monitored better or get a cleaner in TWICE A DAY to clean & sanitise it as for the fridge had a bad odour , & benches were dirty ( a breeding surface for bacteria ) I can say this cause I’m AN EX-CLEANER ! The dining / chill area was nice to relax & have a cuppa overall I rate this property 7/10

The staff are welcoming and the ambiance itself is very friendly. The common areas are clean though there are guests who are really loud and their noises are heard inside the room,. I stayed in 4-bed dormitory and the bed was also clean and comfy. I highly recommend this place for everyone traveling in Melbourne.

“Little Drifter: Best in Australia. ”
The Little Drifter hostel is, in my opinion, the gold standard of hostel accommodation in Australia and based on my recent stays has proven to yardstick by which all other budget accommodation should be judged. Its difficult to overstate how ideal the location of this Hostel is. You're right at the doorstep of the wonderful Queen Victoria Market and walking distance from much of what Melbourne's CBD has to offer My recent stay happend to be soon after the hostel reopened following a (I assume) multi million dollar refurb. With this information my expectations were cautiously high however I'm delighted to report they were all met easily and in some cases definitely exceeded. In terms of the refurbishment, I found Little Drifter to have fantastic decor and from what I can tell the refurb money was well spent. Both the common areas and bedrooms were excellent, and seemed to provide consistently high level of cleanliness, privacy, and comfort. In the common guest areas every detail seems to have been considered, from an abundance of lounge furniture (well utilised by guests, many socializing, some just relaxing) there's plenty of quiet areas for working, reading, snoozing or whatever. Guests also have access to brilliant amenities like pool tables, table tennis, large-screen movie rooms, gyms, and roof terraces. I noticed there was great access for wheelchair users and thoughtfully designed private bathrooms and showers for guests with mobility considerations. The vast and extremely well-equipped kitchen and laundry facilities further added to the convenience and comfort during my stay. But when choosing accommodation in a new city, while it's certainly lovely to have shiny new beds and whatnot, the thing that can often elevate a hotel stay from good to outstanding are the staff. The crew at the Little Drifter are quite simply the best I've encountered. Unfailingly warm and friendly, the service was personal, efficient, professional, and perfectly calibrated for each guest. It's a significant advantage that many of the staff are from other countries, as such are able to provide invaluable advice and recommendations for first-time visitors to Melbourne. A vital resource for young travelers who may not have local contacts to guide their time. I was hugely impressed with everyone I encountered however feel Owen, Candice, Wila, Kira, Ali, Josh, George and the night security guy Ferdy deserve a special mention. Whatever the Drifter group is doing to have such an impressive group of people working for their company, keep doing it! Really really great group of people. Its goes without saying the atmospher at the Little Drifter is brilliant. Whether you want to go out on the lash or prefer more subdued daylight activities, if you're on a solo mission or hoping to be scooped up by a passing conga line, you'll be fine. The combination of wonderful staff, excellent facilities, and magnificent location scene makes Little Drifter, in my opinion, the only choice for people travelling on a budget. Actually, scratch that, the Little Drifter is the only choice for anyone looking for accommodation in Melbourne. Full stop. Period. The End. Seriously, it's that good.
