Where to stay in Akita Prefecture
Akita Prefecture hotels & accommodations

Super convenient location to Kakunodate station and rental car facilities. Check in was quick and the staff were very friendly. Ample self parking available. Buffet breakfast included was very good. No onsite onsen. Onsite laundry consisted on 1 washer and 1 dryer on the entire property, but there's a coin laundry facility about 5 mins away.

Simply incredible. Yuli san and Tatsuya san are the loveliest people and the most gracious hosts one could hope for. The inn is charming in every way: the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the bath is a treat and the jazz music playing in the background sets a cozy a relaxed mood. We were lucky to be there on a Sunday and see a live session, an unexpected, strange...

It was my first time travelling solo to Akita and Richmond Hotel Akita Ekimae truly made a good first impression and my stay there enjoyable. The facilities were great; they provided almost everything you need (e.g. toothbrushes, cotton buds, etc.) and were prompt with the replenishing of essentials like towels. Location wise, it's really just a 4 minute walk from th...

Nice big room. Akita is not very big. The hotel is a bit of distance from Akita JR station. You want try to walk it but there are a few buses that goes to across the street from the hotel. Just 3 stops. City is walkable so this hotel is quite Central. Great staff. Big clean rooms. Breakfast was good too

When we arrival in Akita Railway Station very near, just past through the mall and connecting to Lobby Hotel. We were to Seitai Hoshikai (Our Lady of Akita) by taxi in front of the lobby and the old man driver waiting for us until we finished our pray. Metropolitan Hotel Akita was good location, room facilities was good, and very kind staff, when I left some property...

This place is beautiful! Don’t be fooled by the exterior of the hotel (from far it looks a little dated and worn), but it’s a gem on the inside. Our room was spacious and the private onsen in our room was one of the best I’ve ever been in. Food was quite good, but perhaps the service could’ve been better.

This spot was a great spot to stay in - the rooms are very spacious and comfortable, the breakfast had a variety of options which was nice. Could probably have added more fruit/ fresh veggies to the buffet. The onsen within the hotel is quite big and there’s an indoor and outdoor section. A nice option to unwind with before bed at night. Would recommend hiring a car i...

We stayed here for 1 night only. Room is not that big but very clean. Staff has excellent service. Location is okay, we can park our car just in front of the hotel. However, if they lower a bit for the parking price, it will be perfect. Overall, worth the money to stay here for 1 to 2 nights if people are visiting Akita area.

It was literally in Akita Station. However, since it's in the 2nd floor and no signage outside, it took me sometime to find it. The staff are friendly but do not speak English so not as helpful. My only complain is that the late check-in at 4pm and early check-out at 10am, just allows you to sleep in this hotel. Overall, it was good because of it's location and price.

We stayed for 3 nights and from the complimentary shuttle service between the station and the hotel, to the welcome and the facilities, this is a lovely place to stay for an authentic Japanese experience. The staff had very little English, but their service and effort was 100%. The restaurant serves delicious food and a good selection of craft beers. The Onsen itself i...

The Akita View Hotel is kind of a noble facility. It holds a lot of weddings and for that has a very nice interieur. The staff is very nice. As for the room, it was very clean and big (for a Japanese hotel room). There are a lot of facilities like a gym, a few restaurants, a spa... Also the hotel is just a few minutes away from the main station and within a 10-minutes ...

I was going to Akita for the Kanto Matsuri. This hotel is around an hour away from Akita station. It was the first day to Japan for us, and from Narita to Yokote, we have to head to Akita first before backtracking to Yokote. It was almost midnight by the time we came to the hotel. By the time we got to Yokote station, we were hot and sweaty (it was August), tires, and ...

Satisfactory business hotel right next to Yokote Station. The room is rather small for being in such a remote location, more equivalent to Tokyo. Although it is a business hotel, you get a ticket to use the baths for free at the much fancier hot spring resort hotel around the corner, which is a nice bonus. I opted for the cheapest rate which did not include breakfast. ...

Guests should be aware that it is the men's onsen pictured - women's onsen is similar but not the same - does not have two window views. Staff were very helpful, held our luggage, called a taxi for us, ran up to look for something we forgot in our room. Please note this is close to a train station, but not Odate. By the time we arrived, the next train to the station ...

Although it is a bit far away from JR Bus station, you can book a van to the hotel (by phone, reserved 10 pm one day before). 15 mins mini van from bus station to hotel. Quite location, but still close enough to go to the JR bus station to play. I highly recommend this hotel and I will come again!

it already felt like I stayed in a ryokan while I stayed here. It has a sento (public bath) and the room's quite traditional with the sliding door and cabinets and tatami floor. And it was cheap! It's just a little bit far from the station on foot. But it was still nice. <3

Very nice onsen hotel to stay in, and could be quite easily reached by direct 1-hr bus from JR Takawako station, and could be used as a base to visit Havhimantai mountain. Hotel is particularly catered to old folks who come for the acidic onsen for healing. Staffs were all very friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The only downside is that dinner was in buffet sty...

GREAT! I went to AKITA CITY for attending the conference. The AKITA city is very peace but fulfil of Japanese restaurants, Convenient stores, and very good environment. The hotel is not far from Akita JR Station, you can walk around 15-20 Min. The hotel is very good, tge hotel,'s staffs are nice and very well service mind.

I loved my stay at this hotel. The only drawback was the distance from the JR train station. It was so far from the train station that I had to take a taxi each time I went or came back from the train station, which was everyday and night I stayed there, as I was there to attend the Kanto Matsuri in Akita. The cost of a taxi was 1,000+ yen each way. Also, there wer...

Convenient once you have a car, but quite a walk (or taxi ride) from the train station. Ask for a high floor facing westwards to enjoy the sunset. Some restaurants nearby (once the hotel restaurant is closed on weekends); the hotel will supply you with a map.

just stayed for two nights while i explored the akita area. hotel is located in close proximity to some of the main sights as well as akita's nightlife street. pretty standard japanese business hotel room. i stayed in a smoking room and it did, lo and behold, smell like smoke, so i'm not sure if the non-smoking rooms smell or not. i would recommend this hotel for a wee...
Cheap places to stay in Akita Prefecture

This hostel is cheap with good facilities and amenities. The staffs are friendly and they can speak english. The only downside is the location which is far from any city, therefore there's not much train to this location. However, the hostel is near to the station.

If you intend to check out very early (5 a.m.), you will need to walk 20 mins to the Akita Station because there is limited transportation until just before 6 a.m. The limousine bus from Akita Station to the airport leaves at 6:05 a.m. and must be taken if your flight is the early flight out (7:30 a.m.). Otherwise, just schedule a later flight and relax.

The best thing about Hotel Route Inn was location. Around the corner from the train station, close to eating places, close to supermarkets. It is a small town, so everything is close anyway! The twin room we had was big (it was at the end of the corridor) and comfortable with all the amenities you need. Staff are super friendly. There is a public bath and coin laundry...

Short 5min walking distance from Akita Station, located next to Shenshu-koen and Akita City Museum. The Citizen’s Market is close by as well. Our Double Room is on the top floor as per our request. Room is clean and comfortably sized (as compared to other Japanese hotels). The only complain is the incredibly thin pillows, even though we asked for extra pillows, two sta...
