Khammouan hotels & places to stay

We used Thakhek as a base to do some trekkings and sightseeing around the province. The location of Inthira Thakhek is very good since we booked the tours with Green Discovery Laos, which in fact is at Inthira. The price was not bad, but I found it a little bit expensive for asian standards. The air conditioner of my room was making the power go down so they changed us for another room. The breakfast is not buffet and there aren't much options. We dinne at the Hotel for 2 consecutive nights. It has a nice restaurant.

Had a relaxing stay here after a long drive from Bangkok. The sign stating that the staff speak little English was amusing! Although I am fluent in Thai and Lao, I found that when the staff spoke with my business partner, their English wasn't all that bad. It's about average for Laos. While the room was a little small, it still had a large bed, a closet and small work desk. The TV had many channels and WIFI was pretty good. Liked the bathroom fixtures. Breakfast was nothing special just a plate of fried eggs with some sausages and sliced French style baguette with butter and jam, instant coffee/tea. Limited covered parking available underneath the building otherwise you just park on the street. Nice view across to Nakorn Phanom in Thailand. Will consider staying again on my next trip to Tha Khaek.

Dongsay was honestly the best place we've stayed. It's incredible value for money as all the facilities were very new and clean. The bed was comfy, shower hot and AC was quiet and worked perfectly! There were no bugs or mosquitos either. The staff were brilliant and even gave us a free lift to the bus station in the morning that we left. Anna was very helpful and spoke great English. They even carried our backpacks up and down the stairs, although we really didn't mind. Breakfast was good- melon and toast with spreads and tea/coffee. We recommend this hotel wholeheartedly!

we stayed here for 4 nights in total and really enjoyed our stay. We had a river- front room and were amazed by the stunning view over the river and the jungel. The location is truly magical. One day we rented a rowing boat and went up the clearwater river which was like nothing we've ever seen before! Its about 3 km away from the tham kong lor cave! we also have to mention the great food and especially the breakfast which was one of the best ones we had during our travels. The resort itself is very clean and beautifully done! the staff was also incredibly helfpul. we honestly wished we could have stayed longer!

The stuffy are so friendly, I arrived at night and I was using a maps.me to find a place but it showed me the wrong way to the another hostel because they have 2, but the owner was so kind and gave me a ride until the correct hostel. The breakfast was amazing and the view from the commun area is so cool. It's near at the bus terminal. For sure I'm gonna stay there again after the loop.

An absolute gem of a place to stay as far as location is concerned.We went to see and experience the 7.5 kilometre cave by boat....not disappointed.Cosy,our owner and host was such a nice man...he has put a lot into this accommodation...and continues to do so.Organic is a good description...self sufficient in every way.had a great ride in his jeep to sunrise appts and met Swiss owner and his wife...a really nice couple and good friends of cosy.We felt privileged of having cosy driving us round. The resort needs a pool ...may be coming...also the food menu needs a lift at the same time taking some pressure off his wife who does the cooking....We had a wonderful time ...and it’s the best accommodation in the facinity.Highly recommended.

Cons No water refills.. Only plastic bottled water available.. Although I struggled to find water refill facility anywhere in this town except random shops Awkward power sockets in dorm - just at each end of the room so phone cannot be recharged at bedside Long walk to city/riverfront.. But close to some shops at least Bathroom facilities basic, but ok Pros Good place to hang clothes on balcony- quick dry Reputable Moto rental next door Close to start of the loop Nice rooms - light and airy with view of garden Adequate bathrooms Balcony Nice garden Good Food.. Plenty of choice and fairly well priced Helpful staff.. One of the guys took me to the bus station on his bike to save me paying more for a tuktuk

This hotel is in need of a major facelift!!!! There were holes in the wall in the main building. Whilst it was right next the Mekong, music from the jumping castle in the night market starts around 5pm then stops around 9pm just in time for the karaoke next door to start & continues until midnight. I was placed in the motel style room next to the main building and I would consider they were in much better condition than the rooms in the building itself & also cheaper. I had my own mosquito coils & had the air con blasted at 18 degs at all times (even when I was out during the day) to keep the mosquitoes at bay. But the staffs were friendly & helpful despite the language barrier. Finally the toilet flooded couple of times even I didn't flush anything down the drain.

The rooms are really clean, bed is comfortable. Food in the restaurant is good too. Not easy to eat in Khoun Kham so we're really happy about the restaurant and the menue. Kitchen is open the whole day. Renting motorbike is possible too. To Konglor Cave you need approximately 1 hr, 45 km. Booking the bus to Thakhek was possible too. The owner is well- speaking english and really fit in managing different things. Really helpful (renting a motorbike for us from another guesthouse because we were too late in booking the motorbike from this guesthouse..they have 2 Motorbikes- be faster with your booking)! I can just recommend!

Very nice guest house. Konglor is beautiful calm village and my stay at Chantha made it memorable. Pros Clean rooms/bathrooms Location (15 min walk to KongLor) Reasonable price. (cheaper) Stay and food. Restaurant (Make against order so hot n fresh) Terrace for relaxation or timelapsing the sunset across the mountain. Awsome Staff. Cons Nothing much. But I would say just for improvement. Remove the mold( common in humid climate) in main hall above the dining area. Surely there are others areas inside and outside. If anyone allergic to dogs three are two pet dogs which are adorable. please let the owner know don't allow it inside the lobby. He would be happy for that. There is bus starting from near by Chantha at 7 am to Vientiane. That's the only bus else take Songtel to Nahin. I recommend this place for sure Deserve a 5 star. As I said 1 star die. for the improvement they can be considered.

Booked the hotel at the last minute and were due to arrive just after midnight. Unfortunately due to bus failure we did not arrive until just after 5am to find a smiling night clerk who could not have been more helpful or efficient and also proceeded to tell us that we had been upgraded to a superior room. The room was a revelation, particularly for the price. Despite being sleep deprived we were still able to be amazed. The bed and pillows were the best we have found in Laos.The airconditioning was superb and the bathroom bigger than some hotel rooms I have encountered. Breakfast was close to the equal of any hotel I have stayed at in Australia and I have stayed at more than my fair share. Checkout was trouble free. Cannot speak highly enough of all the staff whose customer service skills were exemplory.

Nice hotel, within price range of other nicer hotels in the area. It seemed very clean. Location is pretty far from the town, so there are no restaurants nearby though the hotel itself does have a restaurant. Free breakfast was provided every morning which was a huge plus. Wifi was spotty. Staff spoke very limited English, but were very pleasant and helpful otherwise.

Khounmee Guesthouse is in the middle of a small village in one of the most awesome setting in Asia. The bamboo rooms are lovely and each opens onto a view of rice and tobacco fields hemmed in by spectacular jagged limestone ranges. The rooms are cleaned every day and each as a small verandah and hammock to simply relax and be. Staff are professional and friendly and speak enough English to handle any questions. The food is good and there are other restaurants nearby. In the evening they light a fire for travellers of The Loop or trippers through the longest caves in Asia to sit and share stories. I stayed two days and came back for a week.

The food offered by their restaurant is great. There is free wifi. The rooms are old and very dated. Not exactly dirty but far from clean. No screens on the windows. Not a lot of additional things offered. We stayed there because it says it also rents boats. We wanted to rent a kayak or something. Only rental available was a motor boat group tour which was expensive. Overall, I'd stay there again but now I know to not expect very much at all.
