Lao Cai hotels & places to stay

Booked 4 night stay at this hotel at a not-so-decent price but we decided to end the vacation after 3 days. It wasn't the hotel alone that attribute to the decision, in fact, bad weather and the town's poor infrastructure played a big part here, but there're surely rooms for Paos to improve if they're to match with the 5 star standard. We requested a hotel transfer from Lao Cai to Sapa and although most of the details was provided and confirmed via email, it took another 5 calls from reservation team, operation, the transport partner and the driver to make it happen. To my frustrations, all of them asked the exact same questions on where, when and how many paxes which raised concerns on their productivity and internal communication. A bit disappointed to see a taxi in front of the door in stead of hotel car but since the price was good it wasn't a big deal. Part of the hotel was still under construction, spa/swimming pool bar and the mini park (that were on the photoshopped images) weren't ready. Rooms and alley were filled with unpleasant smell of new painted walls and there were dusts in the air which were certainly unhealthy for young children and elderly people. The toilet was designed to be separated from the rests of the bathroom but there was strange odor coming out during our stay. There weren't many dinning choices and since there were few customers during weekdays, the buffet breakfast was replaced with alacarte menu. Although I find this a reasonable business call, the hotel should get this message across to avoid confusions during booking. On the highlights, staffs were absolutely helpful and well-trained. They also got a lovely indoor pool with warm water and an excellent tour service. We used the recommended tour to a nearby village and was happy with the service level they provided.

We booked this hotel due to it being a new hotel with nice facing view in room but abit disappointed that the category that we booked doesn't match what the website had stated. Therefore we did feedback that we are a bit disappointed on the view from our room. Hotel did a good service by showing us the different room types & we can be upgraded for a extra charges. But we decided to stick back to the same room cause we have booked family room with 1 double bed & 2 single bed with a seating area for us to gather together & chill out. Hotel is good to allowed us to check in early so we can wash up after our long distance train ride & we can proceed for our tour. Surprisingly after we are back for our tour, the Manager was there to welcome us & wanted to upgrade us to another better category room. We have view the upgraded room & we are glad & happy that they go all way out to make the guests happy to stay there. We are really happy that they looked into every feedback the guests have commented. Although this time around is a free upgraded but we still stick back to original booking. We will definitely stay there if we are back in Sapa again.

Our trip to Sapa was made amazing by our stay in SilkPath. We took an overnight train from Hanoi to Lao Cai and arrived in the hotel at 0700hrs. While it was full house, the hotel was kind enough to let us use the shower facilities to freshen ourselves in the morning before heading out for the adventure in Sapa. Everyone was so warm and nice from the reception staff to the porter and to the restaurant staff. Waldo was superb in arranging all our needs from transportation to pick up, and sharing tips on travelling in this beautiful town. Not to mentioned, that the GM Steve was very helpful and nice in ensuring that our stay and visit was all in order. Kudos to the team for having such a exemplary leader. This has to be one of the best hotel we have stayed in and will definitely be back! Well done SilkPath team! Truly 5 star!

We stayed in the Deluxe Family Room at Sapa Horizon and boy was it amazing. They accommodated all our requests - such as arranging for the taxi transfer from Lao Cai Station at 5.30AM to the hotel. They were even able to check us into our room at 8AM, something none of us had experienced at any other hotel before! There were complimentary fruits and bottled water, as well as a generous gift (won’t spoil the surprise, but suffice to say we indulged heartily). The room itself was spacious, modern and clean. They have a dedicated wifi router for each floor, so enjoy that maximum strength wifi. Laundry service was excellent too; their fabric softener made us sigh when our clothes came back to us. The breakfast spread was great - a mix of Vietnamese and international dishes. We also ordered dinner from the basement kitchen, and were pleasantly surprised; it held its own against some of the other restaurants we went to. Definitely try the bamboo-rice and fried rice if you’re here!

Went there with a group of friends. This lodge is an hour away from Sapa Town and Sapa Town is an hour away from Lao Cai Train station. The journey to the lodge is too far but the view is really magnificent. The lodge provides free shuttle to and fro Sapa town, but only at limited timings. My only feedback is that the shuttle service is rather limited, and the food they provide at the lodge is also rather limited choice. The guy at the topas tour speaks good English, and is able to provide suggestions on tours. Given another choice, I would definitely stay there again.

Price were slightly expensive compared to other hotels but the view was worth it and breath-taking! Our room overlooked the mountain. Staffs were pleasant and helpful. Helped us to book a transport to go around Sapa and also for our shuttle back to Lao Cai station. Breakfast was okay. We checked out early as we had an afternoon tour and when we came back we were able to use the public restrooms in the hotel to shower and change. Pleasant stay!

My family (two young toddlers and my wife) and I spent two nights at Amazing Hotel in Sapa on 21st and 22nd of Sept 2018. I can only warmly recommend this hotel. Hotel is super clean (it is a 4 stars), good facilities (they have a swimming pool on the roof-top with an amazing view over the mountain), staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast is good, location is very central (near Sapa square) etc... Excellent hotel from my point of view!

Had an amazing time at Freesia! The staff was friendly and over the top helpful. The rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. We were traveling with 2 three year old and the staff was very accommodating. We arrived early from the train in Lao Cai and they did everything they could to get us in a room early (in the room by 9:15 am). Great at arranging tours and transportation. I cannot recommend them enough. I will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Staff were so friendly, going above and beyond in everything. They let us check in early and gave us another room to hang out in after check out as our train didn't leave till evening, so we could shower after our waterfall walk (which was lovely and recommended by them) they packed us a surprise free lunch for the train also! They also organised and drove us back to Lao cai from sapa for a third of the price we paid to get to sapa. There is a free cooking class each evening, it was fun and delicious and the chef Is a master fruit carver, so showed us how to carve a few things. Also this hotel is located in the best spot in sapa for mountain views, so lovely! Breakfast was also delicious, I recommend the vegetable omelette. My husband and I are vegetarians, and this was not a problem at all, I ate in the hotel restaurant one night and had delicious veg food, especially the vegetarian spring rolls! I could not recommend this hotel more!

This hotel is located in center of Sapa, close to Sapa express bus stop. I stayed at Sapa Centre Hotel 4 people in 1 room, The breakfast was great and the room is big, clean and comfortable. Other than this, we book the Sapa one day trip from hotel, the trip was very memorable. Receptionist also can arrange a transportation to Lao Cai train station for our next day night train.

The Sapa Elite Hotel is new and in very good condition. The location is excellent, being above the square with the Catholic church. On a rare clear day I could see Mt. Fansipan from the windows of my room. The breakfast is good and the service is fast. This is a very comfortable hotel and everything worked. The staff was very helpful and arranged an excellent driver to take us to Lao Cai to catch the train. The hotel will clean laundry, which is a good service to have when one returns from the Roof of Indochina covered in mud and sweat. One's clothing items come back with colored thread sewn into a corner or edge (it's easy to remove). I reckon the addition of the threads keep the clothing sorted out but I had one item go missing from one bag and two extra items arrive in the other bag. Check your laundry when it returns!

Our group was greeted with energy and enthusiasm. Actually spoke excellent English . Help us take our luggage to room, advised us of morning breakfast logistics, wifi and even assisted our journey to train station in Lao Cai. They went above and beyond especially filling our coffee mugs with hot water. They even allowed us to borrow the Vietnamese hats to take our memorable photo outside the hotel. Oh yeah, forgot to comment on the most comfortable bed and comforter.

Managed to find a room to fit 2 adults n 2 kids under 8yo. Staffs are very friendly and understands English well especially Mr Sam at the reception! Room n clean n big! Our room is facing the mountains & nice view! Weather is very cooling on the 3rd day when we check out. I will recommend this hotel. Mr Sam had arranged transportation to lao cai train station! Service was very good! Thank u Mr Sam! We will come again next time!

The property is about 4km away from town centre. Quiet and with good mountain air. You basically can walk the cement track from this resort to Lao Chai and Ta Van on your own. There are plenty of villagers along the route and they are most helpful with directions. However, it was foggy during our stays. Bame the weather. The road from town centre to this property was under heavy construction. There were no street lamps at night and thus a bit unsafe temporarily. The staffs were pleasant and friendly. They had got 3 dogs and a cats. Had quite a relaxing stay.

The Victoria Sapa is a lovely hotel, overlooking the main town plaza. Having "integrated" service with the Victoria Express train and bus service to/from the hotel is certainly convenient (albeit a bit pricey). It's great that the Victoria offers to store your luggage and use the spa showers on your last day (since you will likely have to check out at noon, but wont be transported to Lao Cai until 7 pm in order to catch the 9 pm train). Although the train is lovely, it is very loud. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep! The hotel has an excellent included breakfast, a nice bar area (with tasty snacks), a pool table, a children's play area, and even some real bunnies in the garden. Although we didn't use these services, there is also a spa, pool, volleyball court, and small gym. The tour company affiliated with the hotel was a bit pricey but service was excellent and streamlined. Highly recommended.

We reach at the Sapa Relax Hotel at very early morning about 6:45am (after the 8-hrs whole night train journey from Hanoi to Lao Cai & from Lao Cai took again 01 hr. Van to Sapa Town). The Hotel Staff welcome & served us with a warn "Jujube Tea". The outside weather is cold. Although the room we booked was not ready for us to "check-in" at the movement. the nice hotel manager still provide us with one of spare room for temporary 2-hrs for us to take a short break & shower. Really appreciated & admired.

The hotel has professional service in the way they nicely arranged a room at high floor per our request and sent a confirmation email for our information in advance. The room is exactly the same as the photos with excellent view over the hills. One plus side is the sitting area which is well positioned with a view:) The hotel is clean and all the equipments function well. This is a well situated hotel - at the center Sapa and just on the way to Ta van - Lao Chai villages. Also, it is just opposite the Sapa Paradise restaurant which we had excellent local Vietnamese dinner with reasonable price. The breakfast however is acceptable with very standard dishes. However, the street in front of th hotel is quite small. In addition, when we arrived, there is a construction site near the hotel which caused traffic jam and noise. Overall, this is a very nice hotel with professional staff and good location.

I stayed here for one day and left my bags while I did the ha Giang loop in the north. The stay was so good with such a scrumptious buffet breakfast, quite a treat after travelling in hostels where the best breakfast you can expect is a pancake. The mattresses are comfortable and morning view wonderful. I liked the staff very much and stayed here when I got back from the loop. I stayed two nights in a shared dorm and then left to get a private room but actually came changed my mind and came back to the hotel to use their private room. It was the best sleep if had in ages. Highly recommend this spot.

Eco Palms House is exactly what they advertise it to be. It is not a Luxury Resort but a Mountain Retreat. Eco Palms House is a breath of fresh air and magical. If you are expecting a 5 Star Resort Hotel with the comforts of one, TV, Telephone, Room Service, Air Conditioning and Heating, Carpeted, Mini Fridge, Bar, and Luxury Amenities, then Eco Palms House is not your place. However, if you are looking for a 5 Star Bungalow/Hut, peaceful and relaxing, friendly and kind owners, nice, helpful, and attentive staff, fireplace in the “Friendly House,” free Wifi, pets running around, clean, daily housekeeping, turndown service with pure essential oils added to pillows, warm and cozy room, nice comfortable bed with a heating blanket, hot, hot shower (let it run a bit and it will go from freezing to HOT - be patient,) and a once in a lifetime view, then Eco Palms House if your place to be.

We arrived at the hotel around 7:00am after a tiring journey on Fansipan Express. We were greeted with hot cinnamon tea and a warm towel when we check-in at the counter. Unfortunately we were not able to get an early check-in as our room was not ready by that time. We went sight-seeing at Cat-cat Village and then walked to Lao Chai, it was a very tiring walk but we were amazed with the beautiful landscapes and friendly locals. We came back to the hotel around 4:00pm and our room was ready by then. Accommodation wise we were satisfied with the room. Big and clean room, nice view of Fansipan mountain just outside of the window. We sat at the balcony and enjoyed our coffee before we head to the shower. Nothing beats a cozy and comfortable room when you are dead tired from all the hiking. We stayed 4 nights at Chau Long Sapa II Hotel, and on the 5th day we had to wait for the late evening bus as our train from Lao Cai to Hanoi leaves at 9:00pm. It was raining the whole day and we spent the entire afternoon playing pool at the lounge. What a fantastic way to kill time as we have no where to go due to bad weather.

Stayed for 5 days . Great little hotel with a great side entrance straight down to the square. fantastic view while eating a lovely filling breakfast. Choose a room with a mountain view. well worth the few extra dollars. very friendly helpful staff. Hotel arranged train tickets and picked us up from Hanoi to station. All ran very smoothly. Pick up at Lao Cai ran smoothly. Would definitely stay here again.

Booked from 21st to 24th Jan'19 and absolutely enjoyed the stay at Hotel. Nice and clean room, professional and friendly staff. Gave pretty good advice on saving money and suggesting convonient tours suitable to enjoy with a 3 yr toddler. Located quite well. Booked mountain view room but as weather was all foggy couldnt say how was the view (not a fault of hotel). Only things could have beeb better are Wifi and shower. Wifi was very weak in tje room could be room to room basis and shower was fluctuating between cold and hot water. Best part was the room inverters which kept the room cozy warm when outside temp was 4 degree. Thumps up for the hotel.

We were welcomed by the staff when we arrived and they carried our luggages to the rooms. The room was neat and tidy with a beautiful scent. The bathroom is very pretty and the place is very peaceful. The view from our balcony was so breathtaking, overlooking the rice terrace and mountains like a painting. You can get beautiful sunrise view in between the mountains from the balcony and see stars at night. Area is suitable to walk around the villages. There are a lot of mosquitoes, no fans or air conditioning in rooms.
