North-Holland hotels & places to stay

I always dream to visit Holland especially Amsterdam. However, my dream was reality last week where I came with my lovely girl from UK to Amsterdam. Once we arrived at the hotel, we were impressed of the great location. The staff in reception was very helpful, smiley, and polite. With regards to the disadvantages, I noticed that there is only a single mirror inside the room where it is placed inside the bathroom. I reckon that one mirror is not enough, but putting a mirror inside the room (on the wall or rather than Tv's place) would be better for girls (for putting makeup or for their hair). Furthermore, the bed was very comfortable except that it is In terms of advantages, housekeeping, room service, and reception deserve a huge thank you. The balcony is spacious enough to make a small party, to take photos, and to smoke. I also like the bottle of merlot red wine that placed in the fridge.

We stayed here during the second half of our stay in Amsterdam and it was much nicer and bigger than our previous hotel. As some reviewers have stated already, the hotel is in an older building but most hotels in Amsterdam are. Our room size was huge (I'm not sure if we got upgraded or if it was the standard room we booked) and it had a nice, comfortable king size bed. The bathrooms were updated which were nice. The location is fantastic and right next to Central Station. The area the hotel is in can get a bit noisy but they provide you with ear plugs, though we didn't use them. The hotel offers free 24 hour wifi with a log in and password but it's annoying to have to get a new log in and password after the 24 hours is up. We stayed here for 5 nights so you can imagine how many times we had to get new log in info. Other than that, it was a relaxing stay. Oh and the soap and shampoos they provide smell wonderful.

Triple Room 141 - Room was big enough but absolutely no view from the window. All triple rooms are like this so bare this ini d of booking. 3 amazing things that would make me use this hotel again..... 1. The staff - they we’re so friendly and could not do enough for you. 2. The breakfast - I eat in hotels a lot and this was by far the best breakfast. Prosecco on arrival, hot, cold buffet, best croissants and smoothies. The fresh teas were tasty too. 3. The location - so central to everything. I would definitely stay here again.

The cab to the hotel was 20 min approx 50-60 Eu, which was worth the price w/ luggage. We were escorted up to get a review how the lights/power work, which was very helpful- different than the USA. We had room 217 over looking the street and it was quiet. There were several perks like flavored water, juice , chocolates, baked goods and the coffee/espresso machines. There were umbrellas to use and best of all a free smart phone! Free calls anywhere and the GPS and internet was fantastic, since our cell co had horrible Wifi service. There was also free evening chocolate bags & the drinks at the bar were VERY reasonable. We also had free breakfast including, fried , scramble and hard boil eggs, bacon,sausage, several breads products, fresh fruit, yogurt cereal and the best fresh squeezed OJ, along with cheeses and lunch meat. The walk to shopping, Red light district, and several sights were only 15 min away. The Botanical Garden and a boat ride were a must. Thank you Hotel Estherea

Ok.so everyone is allowed an option but reading reviews after you have booked can be quite daunting. Well I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how good the blyss was our room for 4 girls was 303 and u would recommend that room if there is a group. We all had our own comfortable single bed and really enjoyed our trip. As a regular to amsterdam the location is superb.

We have just spent 11 nights in this lovely hotel in the tranquil Oud Zuid neighbourhood with it's huge trees. Great location - my husband could walk to the RAI Centre and I could easily take the trams to the city or walk to attractions close by such as Vondel Park and Rijks Museum or the beautiful shopping streets in the area. The hotel is decorated in soft tones and has a calming atmosphere with soft music playing and scented candles burning in the lounge area. Friendly staff greeted with smiles every time we entered through the sliding doors and were very helpful with advice about getting around the city. Our room was very comfortable with a huge bed, a beautiful view over the trees outside and luxury amenities in the spotlessly clean bathroom. We did not dine in the Kersentuin restaurant but preferred to spend the last meal of our trip in the lounge area which has a more casual menu - this was the best meal of the entire time we were in Amsterdam! A hotel highly recommended!

Best Service, Staff was very friendly, location is good for shopping. If someone needs to exercise there is big gym next to it, though it doesn’t have any link with the hotel but one can walk in and pay for the daily visit. The only suggestion I have is that a small cupboard should be placed somewhere in the hotel, wall mounted hooks are difficult to place clothes. If cupboard can’t be placed than at least cloth hanger stand should be placed in the room. I highly recommend staying in this hotel. No need to book a taxi from airport to hotel, you can catch the bus (Bus Number 69) in front of arrival exit and drop by “ruimzicht” bus stop. You can buy the ticket on the bus. I suggest buying 48Hrs unlimited ride ticket for 12.5 Euro instead of buying a one-way ticket of 2.9 Euro. This ticket can be used on Bus and tram anywhere in Amsterdam.

A no frills room only hotel which would provide all other services (even basic things like Housekeeping) at a cost. For a premise and business model like this, one would expect a lot more value for the amount paid. Probably it was a supply demand issue, but overall, very disappointing. I will only recommend this place for a short stay and simply because the staff is very friendly and courteous. It's located a hop away from the Zaandam station and very conveniently in the central town area. The location is excellent, along with the connectivity to Airport, Amsterdam and other North Holland regions.

We spotted the hotel straight away when arriving at central station so not far to travel with our luggage. we arrived at midday went straight to the hotel and our room was ready which we were not expecting but this was brilliant it meant we could start exploring and find somewhere for lunch straight away. We were given a room on the 5th floor overlooking central station we could not have asked for a better view so much going on out of the window it was fantastic. The room was a little on the small side but was clean and comfortable so nothing to complain about the room was also very quiet. we were in the older Victoria side of the hotel so the rooms were more traditionally furnished the furniture very dark and dated but it was functional and the bed was comfy and bathroom clean. The only thing I would say that let the hotel down was that they did not supply a complimentary drinking water in the rooms and there was no where in the hotel to get any other than paying 6.50 euros which most 4* hotels I have stayed in at least provide a complimentary bottle of water in your room there was complimentary tea and coffee but no milk so we used a local supermarket. The wifi was very useful although we had to keep signing back in everytime you return to the hotel or even if you are within the hotel . We used the hotel pool and sauna on both afternoons after a long day out sightseeing it was a great way to revive, clean, quiet and the sauna was the best I been in. Location was excellent after touring the city we agreed we couldn't have beat the location we walked everywhere there were shops, bar, restaurants, canal tours, trams, buses, bikes, and of course the train station all on your doorstep. When we checked out of the hotel we left our luggage with them went and spent another day exploring the city and picked our bags up on the way back to station to head for our flight home it could not have been any easier we would definately stay here again.

If the center of Amsterdam is out of your budget range or you want more bang for your buck, this hotel is perfect! The kitchenette makes it easy for breakfast, snack and simple meals. There is a store right nest to the train station. Staff is very helpful and did their best to accomodate any of our needs. Transportation is super easy...Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

All in all, we loved our stay and would definitely stay again and highly recommend. From the moment we arrived to the moment we checked out we felt so welcome and comfortable and looked after. The rooms are very plush and comfortable, I slept incredibly well (and i'm a bad sleeper)! And i loved the coffee machines in room. We had intended to go find a restaurant for dinner but we were enjoying sitting in the lovely courtyard bit outside the bar having our complimentary cocktails (which were delicious) when an incredible looking burger was carried passed us by a waiter so we couldn't resist. My boyfriend even thinks they were the best burgers he has ever had! Technically they were on the lunch menu but the staff had no issue accommodating for dinner time and they were very reasonably priced. The hotel itself is in an old tram depo so is a really lovely space and we loved the style with several seating areas (and a swing). Despite its 'uber cool' style i found it had a really lovely atmosphere which made us feel very comfortable and we were more than happy to hang out in the communal areas. There are a couple of negatives however. It is still very new so upon our arrival we were surprised to find some areas outside the hotel still look like building sites. Not really an issue but it may bother some people. Also it is further outside of the city, this is actually why we booked it as we had tickets to a gig nearby but if you want to explore all of the city factor in that you will probably be getting the tram a lot (which is very easy, the stop is very close and again the hotel staff are very helpful advising the best way to navigate around) rather than walking. Again not a massive problem but something to bear in mind.

We booked a room for 3 adults without breakfast. When we came to the hotel, we changed our mind about the breakfast, but it was absolutely no problem to pay for it extra (8,50€/pers./day). By the check-in we were told we have to pay some city tax, which in my opinion should be included in the price of accomodation, but it was only 9€ for the 3 of us, so not a big deal. We came to a little double room, which I think should not be used for 3 adults. There was barely space for our suitcases and the "extra bed" was not comfortable at all. The bathroom was small, but clean and nice. Overall the hotel and it's interior is clean, nice and cosy. I really appreciated inbuilt heating of a mirror. The housekeeping made our beds, emptied our trash bin and changed our towels daily. The brakfast was good, pastry, friuts, cereals, coffee, tea, juice, milk, cheese, ham, salami, butter, hard boiled and scrambled eggs daily. After the check out, we stored our luggage at the hotel reception (for free).

Stayed here by myself when booked a last minute couple of days away. I looking for a hotel near my family and friends who were booked in to a nearby hotel for a few days. The reviews and pics of the hotel online looked good and I booked! Hotel is great. It has a clean modern and cool reception and bar area, perfect to sit and use a for the small amount of work I needed to do on one of the days. The rooms were clean, modern and the bed was very comfy - noticeably more so than the bed on a recent trip to a 5 star hotel. You can extend check out when there is availability for a charge. Upon leaving I was presented with a goody bag - a lovely and unexpected touch. Felt safe staying by myself - the reception need to buzz you in the main door, you can’t just walk off the street. I would definitely recommend staying at The Luxer for me it provided everything you need in a hotel.

The hostel is a 5 minute ferry ride from Amsterdam Centraal and in a prime location. I had a four bedroom all female dorm which had a toilet and shower. The toilet and shower room were not cleaned everyday so that made them smelly and messy. The bedsheets and comforter cover needed a proper clean as they had hair on them which was a bit disgusting. The hostel staff were friendly and quite prompt however. My locker was broker and someone immediately came to fix it. Wifi worked fine. You will be charged city tax of 2 plus euros upon check in and will need to pay 3 euros for a towel if you don't have yours. You can also get other toiletries for a small fee if you don't have yours. The hostel is right next to the Eye museum and This is Holland which is very convenient. The ferry ride to and from Centraal station is every 4 minutes and is free. I recommend this hostel, all in all. A real fun place to hang out and meet people at all times of the day and night!

I spent two nights here at the beginning and end of my stay in Holland. I booked the premium deluxe room, which was great. It was a decent size, had a comfortable double bed, desk, and private bathroom. The dorm rooms must have been at the other side of the hostel as it was very quiet in my wing. Check in was smooth and fast. There are two eating options for breakfast: one is the 7.50 euro buffet downstairs, the other is in their restaurant. The restaurant is great and I highly recommend ordering any meal here. The smashed avocado and poached eggs was particularly good! Dinners are also good and well priced. It is about a 30 minute walk from Centraal Station, but there is a metro station and trams about a 10 minutes walk away as well. There is a lovely park on the doorstep which is great too.

We had a great experience, in fact it was the best thing of our Amsterdam stay. In the beginning they were unable to find our booking and made us wait for 20 mins and gave us a free beverage coupons. But later when they found it, they provided us with a free up-gradation to their best room, the suite. The room was duplex and huge. The bathroom was humongous. The hotel had very nice interior and exterior. The internet speed was great. Overall it was the best hotel in our 65 days Europe trip.

We LOVED the Hotel Vondel...the location could not be beat and the rooms were very nice. We were upgraded to a triple so our room was particularly large! The bed was fantastic...the best bed we have had in 3 weeks in Europe! My only gripe is with booking through Agoda. We had a problem and there is no way to contact them. We inadvertently used the wrong card when we made the reservation months ago. We assumed we could straighten it out when we arrived at the hotel, however Agoda charged our account several days before we arrived! As soon as we realized we had been charged, we tried to call Agoda...we never could get ahold of a live body...after going through all the voice selections we got music that played forever, no person ever came on the line. Their website lists no way to contact them by email. I will never ever book through Agoda again...the hotel was unable to contact them, now was my bank. I think it is terrible that they charged my card 4 days before arrival!

I have just got back from a weekend break away with my husband I was a bit unsure about this hotel before hand because of the bad reviews but I’m so glad that I did book it! Yes the rooms are small but we hardly spent any time in our room we were out all the time and the bed was comfy! You couldn’t get a better location the hotel is near everything you need or is a short walk away! If you like it quiet when you sleep don’t book somewhere in the centre this city doesn’t sleep But it really didn’t bother me I can sleep through anything 😂 Don’t get a taxi from the airport we made the mistake and it cost us €60 when you can get the train which is easy to do and cost only €10 for 2 people the hotel is only a 10 mins walk from central station! would definitely stay in this hotel when we visit again

We arrived on King's Day and hotels around downtown was fully booked/very highly priced. Luckily for that, we came across Sir Albert Hotel! Hotel was very sleek, clean, modern, n was extremely near to our favourite Albert Cuyp Market! Who cares if the room was slightly away from downtown (less noisy anyway) & small, it had everything we needed. Best way to end our honeymoon trip, thanks to Sir Albert Hotel :-)

Location wise excellent,away from the hustle & bustle of red light districts but still very near to everywhere!staff are super friendly,the room despite a bit small but just fine for us both with 2 huge luggages and 2 handcarries 😃 and it is clean too.there is also a cafe called il momento nearby that serves best coffee in Amsterdam! Overall,a decent stay for us husband and wife and highly recommended.book the room with canal view if u have the chance.we were a bit too late upon booking tht we missed the last room with canal view on site.

My stay at the Lloyd Hotel was very pleasant, I stayed in a 2 star room with a full sized bed and a pull out couch. The open shower concept was really interesting (we had to squeegee the ground so the water would go into the drain), which was something I wasn't used to, but When in Amsterdam.... Anyway, the staff was so friendly and they helped me upgrade my room so I could have a good experience with my traveling partner. Also, I wish we could have eaten there because the foods sounded fantastic. Overall, a really great stay with a lot of great options, you could pick a 1 star room up to a 5 star room. It is a 30 min walk to the middle of the city so be prepared for that one, I would suggest getting a 48 hour tram pass, or longer depending on your stay.

We spent 4 days in Amsterdam. The Hotel is located in a great position. From the airport you can take the bus 397 which stops in Leidseplein (5 mins walking from the Hotel). 5 mins from the Hotel there is the Museums'area (Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk, etc..). In the evening the area is full of life, but not too busy, with plenty of nice restaurants and pubs, and if you research you can find even no touristic places. To get to central station, it takes 25 mins and it is a very nice walk. You can choose if have the breakfast at the hotel, we highly recommend this choice, it was rich and yummy.

The listing is inaccurate, they don't offer airport transportation. Rooms are tiny, like dorm-room tiny, but well-appointed and clean. Staff was very friendly, but they need to examine your room at checkout, I'd imagine this could cause very long waits to check-out, so plan ahead. The EU rating system is about 1/2 star higher than they'd be in the US, but this would be a very solid 3 & 1/2 star hotel here. Location was great. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if travelling for pleasure and I wanted to be close to the centrum.

A boutique hotel in a very central location. Staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We had reserved two superior canal view rooms online. However, there was a miscommunication between agency and hotel and we were placed in two non canal view rooms. The hotel quickly accepted error and made immediate accommodations for us. One of the new rooms had an issue with the AC so they ended up immediately upgrading our room to a suite to accommodate. All of the staff were pleasant, informative and made the stay a memorable one. Beds were comfortable, breakfast buffet was nice and wine and cheese in the evening was very pleasant. The location was the best, near everything!

Last minute booking when I landed in Amsterdam. Arrived early but knew room wouldn't be ready but staff member was very accommodating in allowing me to leave luggage while I walked around town until check-in time. Room was located on the bottom floor so can't really complain. You may have issues if you need to go up the stairs. Room itself was really nice. Room wasn't big but considering it was cold when I arrived in Amsterdam it was nice and cosy. Room had a nice feature wall which suited the style of the hotel and the area it's located in. Bathroom and toilet was decent size nothing spectacular but does its job. It does have a safe in the room if people need to use it. Overall pleasantly surprised with the Hotel. Location is Great (about 5-10min walk from Amsterdam Central) and your pretty much away from the noisy areas of town while your next to the canal. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the room was nice and cosy. Would definitely consider it if I'm back in Amsterdam.

Okay this hotel is not 5 star but it has a fabulous location, the staff are amazing - they couldn't do enough to help. The breakfast was fine, your normal type of buffet breakfast and of a good quality. The rooms are very small but fully functional, bathrooms very small but again they had all the facilities you need. We stayed here for 3 nights and mainly only slept, showered and changed to the small room did not bother us. Literally a five minute walk from Amsterdam Centrall Station.

Amsterdam hotels can be very pricey and quite hit and miss. We were so lucky to finally decide on Hotel Roemer! Situated in a lovely neighbourhood right in the heart of the museum district but not too far from the central area, we enjoyed leisurely strolls from the front door to everywhere we needed to be. Our room was in the annexe building across the street and was very spacious with a nicely appointed bathroom. The main hotel building has a gorgeous rear terrace which was a tranquil space to sit with a drink on an evening after a day of sightseeing. Although we didn’t eat at the hotel, there was a small restaurant facility if required. Our favourite thing was the ‘honesty bar’.....get a drink of any variety just make sure you note it on the bar slip! Undoubtedly though, the best thing about the hotel are the fabulous staff! They were so courteous, happy and helpful - cannot praise them enough! We LOVED this hotel and will definitely return. Thank you for a fantastic time! :-)

It very close to amsterdam central station, canal cruise station, the palace, madame tussaud, & tour to various location in holland. It is near to red light district though so family with children need be careful to find a way around this area. Hotel is unique, staff is friendly but during my stay i only saw one hotel reception & one concierge. Long queue in the reception desk during checkin time
