Exceptional and warm hospitality”

Things I like
This was our first visit to Shuzenji, and we were very impressed by the natural beauty of this area and the warm hospitality of AKARI KAORI. The hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and patient, making my parents' first Ryokan experience comfortable and welcoming. Although the place is not big, every detail is carefully arranged and designed, so we never felt cramped. The Yukata provided were a delightful touch, especially with the option for female guests to choose special ones. Guests can wear Yukata to the dining room and even for a walk outside. New towels and socks were also provided, which added to our comfort. The dining experience was superb, with both dinner and breakfast offering fine dining quality. The food was delicious, fresh, and there was a wide variety. We were overwhelmed by the choices! The staff even provided alternatives for my husband, who chose not to eat seafood. Just make sure to advise them in advance if you have special dietary needs. The location is also a big plus, being really close to the bamboo grove. It's a very nice place to go for a walk after dinner, and you're guaranteed to be stuffed from the wonderful meals! Overall, our stay at AKARI KAORI was a memorable and delightful experience, thanks to the natural beauty of Shuzenji and the hotel's excellent hospitality.

Things I like
This is an amazing ryokan. The staff is extremely friendly and nice. They do all and everything to make your stay memorable. The public onsen in the ryokan was great, very serene atmosphere. The room was huge, with a private onsen. All the facilities are very clean. The food (dinner and breakfast) is amazing, tasty and beautiful. The city is nice and quiet, great to walk around. There is a small bamboo forest, a river runs thru it, nice buildings. Picturesque!

Boutique bespoke ryokan with private onsen.”

Things I like
Excellent staff service from the moment of arriving, as they helped us with the luggage, to the dining experience. Great food breakfast and dinner half board, sumptuous meal, super full after it, and very cheerful staff. Rooms felt bespoke and beautiful appointments throughout. Highly recommended.
Things I don’t like
It was very hard to find the parking lot after arriving at the front of the hotel, where you cannot stop/park. Clearer signage would have been helpful. Offering assistance to move luggage down the stairs at checkout would have been a nice touch, but overall a good experience. Investing in a luggage trolley to move luggage from car park to hotel entrance would probably be a good idea.

A very comfortable and enjoyable birthday away from Tokyo.”

Things I like
The staff were excellent and the food was delicious. The hotel itself was very comfortable and well designed.
Things I don’t like
There was wifi but the password was not accepted and streaming services were not accessible through the room's TV. It looks like there was no internet connection to the hotel at all.
