The staff was the friendliest we had seen and the room was clean and comfortable. When I first doubted about sleeping on tatami-floor and not opting for a western-style bed then after the experience I can recommend it to everyone. Tatami-floor sleeping is comfortable, they make sure of that by putting mattresses on the floor. The 10-course supper was AMAZING, also a very large Japanese-style breakfast which were both included in the price (except the drinks). We paid extra for a private onsen, it was very worth it. Although expensive (altogether 380 euros/night), it was one of the best experiences in Japan.

Get there by Local JR to Ogoto station was easy, they provide free complimentary shuttle so call them once you reach. We booked the private onsen as my Husband has a tattoo. No tattoos are allowed in the four public onsens. The other two have separate genders bath. I love the 11th floor and 8th floor bath as they overlook Lake Biwa so it’s particularly beautiful in the morning & dusk. Kaiseki was delicious with Shiga Prefecture specialties. The souvenir shop has a lot of cute local gifts. Staff greets you every time they see you which is pretty nice. There’s also a shuttle back to the JR station so ask the staff for the timing so you don’t miss it. A beautiful experience in the ryokan.. if we can we will love to go back again!

My boyfriend and I opted to splurge for our ryokan, and found that this was one of the only places that offered an outdoor spring bath for the price that we had paid, while other ryokans charged a lot more for a room similar to ours. The view from our room was amazing, day and night! And the room itself was so spacious, and beautiful that I didn't want to leave! They provide Shiseido branded items that I definitely trust and love. The staff were very friendly, one of the hotel staff even introduced to us the hotel, our room, and even how to put on a Yukata in detail because we did not know how to read Japanese nor necessarily know how to associate ourselves in such a traditional place. All in all - I would definitely splurge a little for the room with an outdoor bath. If not, their group bath area was splendid on its own!

They even help us to lay all tatami beddings. Next wonderful experience is the indoor and outdoor onsen which open till midnight so we still get to enjoy and relax. All furnishings, facilities and cleaniness is of very good condition and we feel very comfortable with the ryokan throughout our stay. The only drawback is there is without a private shower in our room. The next morning we are having a very wonderful breakfast, as well as how the staffs serve us for the breakfast. We truly love the place and will definitely recommend to others!

I stay here after skiing in Biwako Valley, it's very good experience, they will pickup you in station after you call them. They also have shutle bus to station at certain time.
