The City hotels & places to stay

The hotel was awesome and in a great location. It was a 2 minute walk to the Tube (district an circle lines)and above ground rail. A 5 minute walk to Tower of London and Tower Bridge 10 minutes to Borough Market. The room was a nice size, we were upgraded upon arrival and it very clean. The girlfiend and I really loved the MAC computer and free WiFi in the room it was great for keeping in contact with family back in Scotland an Canada. We didn't eat in the hotel but we found a great little cafe a 5 minute walk from the hotel (mounument tube st) was great for breakie and all sorts of other shops. I can't say enough about the hotel great value for money. It was the 3rd time I've stayed in London in the last 15 months and by far the best the best experience. Oh I didn't mention the view from the rooftop patio absolutely stunning. I would stay there again or at another hotel in the chain. I have stayed in 6 different cities in Europe in the last 2/12 years and by far the best quality and value. The only issue was we stayed Sat-Tues and there was a construction site nearby so on the Mon-Tues it was alittle loud in the morning as our window was open. It sereved as our wakeup call LOL !!!

We didn't expect the room to be as small as it was (felt like we were living in a tiny house for a few days), but everything else about the stay made up for it. Great location, right next to a tube entrance, some good pubs and great cafes for breakfast. The room was small but very modern and the A/C unit came in handy during an abnormally warm week in London. The staff was very friendly and proffesional. We spend most of our vacations outside the room anyways, so the small room wasn't a big deal for us. The complimentary wine and cheese in the evenings was one of our favorite parts of staying here. Having a little cheese dish complimented with a glass of wining before heading out for the night was perfect. We will be looking for a Z Hotel in the next city we stay in.

An excellent urgent booking business stay. All worked well upon presenting my printed (fully paid Agoda voucher) at the Reception desk. Rooms are clean and well equipped. Good free wifi connection. Bathroom of excellent standard and modern facilities. Good gym downstairs and while they could not accommodate my early check-in I was allowed to enjoy a shower at the gym. This flexibility was unexpected and allowed one to freshen up and better enjoy the grand sights close-by. Do not confuse this Hotel with the Grange City Hotel close-by. The cab driver can drop you off and leave you clumsily stranded at the wrong hotel. The names and locations are highly confusing even to the well-informed cab driver?

This is a great Japanese pod style hotel. The rooms are small but well appointed, will all that you need for a short stay. Comfortable bed with large under bed storage are which is ample enough room for a suitcase. Large smart tv which has full freeview channels, the option to buy premium movies, YouTube, internet and useful information regarding the hotel, it's facilities and the surrounding area which included practical info (nearest supermarket, pharmacy), restaurants, bars and attractions. Excellent power shower with four settings and ample toiletries and paper. Free Wi-Fi which has a strong signal for a hotel. Good location with shops, bars and restaurants no more than a 5 min walk. Helpful staff when needed but not intrusive. Would recommend for short stays in the city. The mood lighting (which can be set to different colours) was a nice touch and all instructions for in room gadgets clear and easy to follow. An enjoyable stay and would use this hotel again.

Staff were amazingly helpful, they made us feel so welcome & nothing was to much trouble. The room & view was stupendous.. The bed was big & comfortable which aided to a restful nights sleep. The position of the hotel was just right for our needs, being situated near Tower Hill meant we could hop on a tube. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank You so much Grange City Hotel. 😊

The hotel is very clean and well maintained. The rooms are not large but that is not necessary. The room is exactly what it is meant for. Sleeping and showering. For the rest, you're in the city. Room is very neat. The hotel has a perfect location. You're on foot from Liverpool Station in less than 5 minutes. All services were included by the booking at Agoda. We will definitely rebook this hotel.

I would 100% stay here again. This hotel has all of the little things that make it a great stay. The staff was great and allowed me to keep my bag in storage for the whole day while I toured the city. The free water saves a lot of money and the free fruit and drinks in the morning are greatly appreciated. Free computers with internet and a gym make this hotel hard to beat.

Andrew Perera at the Thistle saved the day: Agoda had been an absolute nightmare and I discovered the day before departure that only one room was booked, when two were paid for and confirmed. The customer service 'specialists' with Agoda were completely unhelpful. Fortunatly the hotel managed to step in and retrieve the situation and create some happy customers. Reception staff were friendly on our arrival and check-in was easy. The rooms were clean and comfortable and certainly an improvement on the Hilton in Rotherhide (where we stayed during our last visit)and my colleague reported a good nights sleep,as did I, so we headed down to the pool for a morning swim ... Unfortunately we were unable to use the fitness facitilities due to our arrival and departure time (we had to leave before 0830), so we headed back to our rooms a little disappointed (in fairness we could have checked on our way to bed). I am unable to report on the food, as we headed out (to Upper Street, well known Islington street off City Road and had a very enjoyable meal), but the menu at the hotel looked quite interesting - usual sort of hotel prices. We also had breakfast elsewhere (that we could easily do this due to the location was another plus). We were working in SE London, but there are good public transport connections with all of London very easily accessible Both my colleague and I would be happy to stay again - better still if we had time to try out the fitness facilities - but we would book through another company

The hotel is in the Temple area which is a very old fashioned and quieter part of the City. Tube stations at Holborn and Temple are only a short distance away. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff on the front desk who got us booked in quickly. we were even given a free upgrade! The room itself is not huge, but had a small separate lounge area with a tv and sky. The view from the windows was part of a building site and the back of buildings in Temple but then again its London not a country estate so it didn't bother us at all. The room was very clean and had good facilities (bath and large shower). The bed was fantastic and soft...didn't want to get up in the morning. In the evening we had been to see and show and had a drink in the bar. Service was good and the Mojito was very nice if a little expensive at £8.00 but then again, this is London. Overall a very nice modern hotel with excellent staff. would definitely recommend staying here again.

I stayed in over a 100 hotels and resorts around the world as I am a frequent traveller ! But , one of the hotels that I rate super I'd cheval considering a city hotel . It's very clean , staff friendly and loved the location as its a bit away from the crazy centre of London. There is more that 5 cafes under this place for breakfast , lunch and dinner as well ! Also , you are spoiled for choices of coffee and cakes , only a minutes away ! The Tower Hill tube station is 5 mins away and you can be in Oxford Circus in 15 mins max ! Also , the boat station is 1 min away and the Tower of London and few other attraction is a stone throw ! This will be my hotel for all future visits to London , whether with family or solo.

this is the second time i've stayed at the citadines barbican (my client is just 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel) and it confirmed the impressions i'd formed on my first visit. it is well run, with a friendly welcome and helpful staff. the rooms are basic, but well maintained and clean. the only issue i had is the over-enthusiastic central heating, which made the room too hot for my taste. the hotel is also competitively priced for london (especially the city). for a business traveller who doesn't need the frills and values consistency and function - the citidines is ideal.

We had an email with the wrong check-in address and were then given a 3rd floor apartment with a non-working lift, dishwasher & smoke alarm. After a number of emails back and forward, we were moved to a different apartment which had a working lift and was great. A good result but some initial angst could have been avoided in the first place. Would recommend to others but make sure you know what you are getting and, if a working lift is important to you, check on that first.

I treated my boyfriend to an overnight stay and breakfast at the Curtain and it was the best stay we ever had! The room was beautiful - comfortable bed and amazing sauna/shower in the bathroom! Chocolate milk and cookies were left when we got back to the room after being out in Shoreditch. The breakfast on the roof top was the best meal we had ever had too and there was also an amazing selection of pastries to choose from too. I would 100% stay and recommend to anyone! Thanks for an amazing stay :)

The hotel is located on Strand, next to the Waterloo bridge. This is a hotel for people who want a place to sleep and browse in the city instead of expecting a luxury accommodation to enjoy staying in. As soon as you walk down the street, you ca find yourself navigate to London city without trouble. The closest subway is Temple but Covent Garden is also just 5 minute walk. It means if you come from London Heathrow Airport, you can get on Piccadilly Line and get off at Covent Garden, or change to Victoria Line and get off at Temple. There are also many major bus stops on the same block. For the facilitates of the hotel, don't expect much as this place is a budget hotel. Only basic rooms. When I was there, the shower rooms on my floor are out of order, I have to go to next floor but it did not bother me. There is one room with single shower and another room with a shower in a big bath tub. They look pretty clean, but I just didn't dare to try to take a bath. The hotel have a lounge area with fast wifi but not in the room area. But this is good enough and the lounge also served drinks with a small amount of charges. Every staff is super nice and helpful whenever you have any questions. For the price that is a good deal in central London.

Really nice building and hostel with almost everything in it! The room was really spacious, quite clean and nice, with window for fresh air and 3 washbasins, common bathrooms all around the floor.. Each bed has a socket, 2 usb plugs and its own light. There is also a common area with couches where you can rest and relax. They organise free walking tours,and they have good suggestions for everything in the city! The hostel is near Blackfriars stations (less than 5 minutes walking). The staff is really nice and helpful and they are always there for the whole day ready to help you. It was a really nice stay in this hostel and when I will come back to London I will go again there for sure!

We were surprised with the very reasonable price and booked the hotel at once. However we overlooked the late check-in charge of 55 pounds! It is indeed an apartment renovated from an ordinary flat on the Middlesex Street, no reception in the building. They said the charge is for the staff who goes to the building to receive guests. But we do think it is actually a basic service for an accommodation provider to offer without charge. The White Rose Court apartment has only 1 double-bed room so the other 2 of us had to sleep on the "sofa-bed", quite uncomfy. We couldn't open the windows either because there are bars and pubs downstairs and machines that give out noises all night. And there is only 1 fan for the two rooms, with ALL windows closed. You may imagine how hot and stuffy it is. But it is within walking distance to the Spitalfields Market and Liverpool Street Station. Very convenient. No elevator - but Anand kindly helped us take one of the heavy baggage onto the flat. All facilities are new and worked well.
