Excellent hotel at an affordable price”
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Palm Garden Hotel and will stay again. The hotel is about three years old and owned and operated by married couple. The husband is from California and the wife is from Chiang Rai. They and their staff make this hotel fantastic. They obviously care very much that you enjoy your visit. The couple recommended where I should visit, drew me maps of how to get there, assisted me in renting a scooter and getting a tuktuk. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The free breakfast is very good serving eggs, cereal, coffee, tea, juices, rice, sausage, and even chicken panang. On my first morning there, I did not realize that breakfast ended at 10 A.M. and did not come down until 10:30 A.M. The staff reopened the kitchen and even made eggs for me. You cannot go wrong at this hotel.

Nice rooms in quiet location”
The Palm Garden Hotel is only really suitable if you have your own transportation as it is well out of the center of Chiang Rai. If you don't mind dealing with tuk tuk travel you could stay here however. The rooms were quite nice and well furnished. The television had a good selection of channels, which is a plus since there really isn't any entertainment in the neighborhood. Breakfast was quite substantial. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Pleasant as we could have possibly wanted.”
We had read reviews on Tripadvisor and Agoda, so we expected AND received a warm welcome when we checked into the hotel. The owners are a young American guy and his wife, a Chiang Rai resident. They met while she was attending university in California. As a result, she speaks terrific English and guest concerns are dealt with quickly. The hotel is simple, but has all the basic amenities. The food at the restaurant is above average, and it is great have a nice breakfast out on the restaurant patio. Directly facing the hotel are rice fields with grazing Water Buffalo, sheep and goats. The staff jokingly refers to this as the Chiang Rai Zoo. The animals highlighted the pastoral setting which is in fact only 5 minutes from downtown by tuktuk. The staff is eager to assist with any arrangements or issues. The beds are comfortable, the place is clean, and the breakfast coffee passes muster from this highly selective coffee drinker. Strong recommendation for this hotel.

The Palm Garden Hotel”
was a little worried at first on driving to the hotel, as it had no reviews. It is around 2 kilometres out of Chiang Rai centre on a very quiet road. However on fining the hotel was much reassured as it looked pretty and clean. the staff were very very helpful and friendly and showed us to a nicely decorated room that was spotlessly clean. The location turned out to be perfect as i had a car, but if you do not there is a taxi service available. We will definitely return to this hotel when visiting Chiang Ri.

Ideal location and great place to stay”
Although this hotel is not large, it had everything we needed for our stay in Chiang Rai. The staff were always smiling and attended to any needs we wanted. The hotel is run as a family concern with one being english speaking farang. The hotel location was ideal for us, on the outskirts of the city but with a tuk-tuk and 100bt we were in the middle of the city in minutes. Dining area was very clean and food good, open all day. Not a bad word to say about our stay.

Very nice hotel”
The Palm Garden is an excellent hotel and it's only slight drawback for me was the location, maybe 5k from town centre. The couple that run it are among the best l've met in Thai hotels. A mind of knowledge and nothing too much trouble. The rooms are a good size and very clean and well maintained and the whole hotel has a nice relaxing feel to it. Breakfast is good and served in a nice environment. I didn't see a lift but it's only 3 floors max so not a worry

Great place to stay. ”
Though a bit out of town, the Palm Garden managesrs and staff more than make up for the short distance to town. Great restaurant, nice clean and roomy accomidations and good place to stay if you do not want to be in the middle of Chiang Rai.

Nice room, best service”
Fantastic value. English speaking staff (Jim who is part of the owning family is native American). You may think so what, but in fact many hotels especially in this price cathegory can hardly speak any English worth mentioning. Another thing is there are no real taxis in Chiang Rai, just pickups with benches in the back. The hotel does however serve local transport and tours with a proper car at resonable rates, so if you care about trasport safety this is the place to stay. Great breakfast buffet, especially the thai foods.

A convenient and friendly hotel with comfy rooms”
We found the Palm Garden a super-friendly place to stay, the hotel managers giving us personalised tips of what to do and see. We enjoyed a well-presented and healthy breakfast buffet. The rooms were comfortable and clean with attentive staff. A small Tesco is just down the road, and a little further on is the centre of town, though Central Plaza is on the other side of town.

Great reception at the Palm Garden”
proprietor and his staff made us very welcome, with helpful tips about restaurants and parking in chiang rai night time. hotel was relatively easy to find; a detailed map would make it easier still. key landmark is poh (paw) khun memorial at the five-ways on the highway. not far from downtown cr, just a five minute drive to the night bazaar, yet located in a very quiet spot adjacent to farms. quite ok for a few days, (we stayed only one night) but for longer stays i'd be lookng for a little more class and comfort. bathroom was tight, but clean and functional. bed firm, adequate. room large enough for our modest needs. no hilton, but good value for money. air con quiet. breakfast included is a bonus, makes an easy start to the day.

The room was quiet and we slept well! ”
We actually arrived at around 6pm and the staff there already knew it was us when we walked into the hotel. The receptionist wanted a deposit for the key which I thought it was fine. At first, the room was two single beds but then we requested another room with a queen size bed for my husband and I. That was quickly arranged and it was on the second floor while the first room was on the first floor. Internet was slower upstairs but that was okay since we were on holiday and did not need high speed internet. The final room was really big but the washroom could need some more renovating. The shower rail was about to come off and the tiles were dirty from regular wear and tear. Although it is not in the center of Chiang Rai, a quick tuk tuk ride would do. As I remember, it was around 80 to 100 baht. After a great night sleep, there was a buffet breakfast with a staff that that could speak great English (she studied abroad) and the food was delicious. We then checked out at around 9am, and the checkout was very smooth.

Great service”
very good and comfortable hotel. we went on a tailor made tour organised by them. it was on the edge of the town to that meant getting a tuk tuk every time you went into chiang rai. however the hotel would order one for you and it would arrive in less than ten minutes, cost bhts. the only downside was that there was nowhere to sit in comfort and relax outside.

Pleasant Hotel”
Once we had found the hotel, we were greeted by our names by a very pleasant young lady from reception. Check in was swift and 'pain free', which was nice after our long journey from Chiang Mai. After freshening up in our rooms we decided to use the hotel restaurant, which, although small, was pleasantly staffed by a young man who couldnt do enough for us. After our meal we retired to our rooms. My daughter who was travelling with a 6 month old baby had requested a cot for the infant, this was delivered and erected with no commotion and the two hotel staff who brought the cot made a great deal of fuss over the baby. Breakfast the following day was very pleasant, with the food being warm and delicious. Check out was equally as swift and pain free as the check in the previous day. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends and family alike.

Friendly Hotel”
A nice small hotel in Chiang Rai, with very friendly English speaking staff. We were leaving early in the morning before breakfast and they even prepared us a packed lunch. The rooms were comfortable with air conditioning and a decent sized wetroom bathroom. The only downside is that it is a little far from the centre of town. However, tuk tuks are readily available and cheap in Chiang Rai.

Great Staff”
The hotel is on the outskirts of Chiang Rai, so some form of transportation is helpful. The staff was great. They spoke good English and were very helpful in providing service to their clients. Good recommendations on sites and restaurants. They are trying to build a reputation on good service and if they continue as they were on our visit, they will succeed.

Extremely friendly hotel”
We had a great stay at the hotel. The Location is good near the city, and not too noisy. The hotel staff and management where extremely nice and friendly, they help us a lot in what to visit. The rooms are quite basic but comfortable, the breakfast was tasty and they was choice. There is no swimming pool but nevermind, anyway you don't have time, as there is so many things to do and visit. I definitly recommend this hotel if you want to stay in Chiang Rai town center.

Clean and freindly”
The hotel is a bit out of the way of the normal, but the rooms are very clean are quite new. Staff are very freindly and most helpful. we took a taxi from bus station 2 . Beware that most of the taxi drivers are not from Chiang rai and do not konw the area very well .It took us two drive bys to get to our hotel and i had to point out the hotel sign out to the driver before he got us there. Nice and quite location with a ok breakfast.you can hire a moto bike to get into town ,it is not that scary

If you want luxury this is not the place, but if you want a lovely staff and fresh coconut this is the place. The staff were VERY helpful and they all have a honest smile that welcomes you as a friend. All credit to them. If I go back to Chiang Rai I will go here!!! The coconut is the best one I´ve tasted in Thailand... Not like the ones u get in bangkok...
