Waterloo and Southwark hotels & places to stay

I've staying here for two nights, everything was perfect. The concierge is very kind and professional. They help me on suggesting the best restaurants not only dinner and lunch but also afternoon tea and even if you are looking for fish and chips. They also book the tickets of the London eye and Westminster Abbey for me , that make my trip efficiently accomplished. The hotel from level 34 to 52 of course you'll got the best view of city. The view of my room was perfect. I can see London eye and Big Ben even from my bathtub. I really recommend to stay at Shangrila at the shard.

I was very happy with this hotel. They are serviced apartments so the rooms are large with a sofa area and a small kitchen area. Perfect for a few drinks before a night out. Extremely clean. Small but very nice bar area in the lobby. Very short walking distance to Waterloo and the Southbank. Only down side was beds were twin pushed together so you could feel the divide. Would absolutely use this hotel again.

Decided to stay here when I had an early morning train from Waterloo. Got a surprisingly large room with separate lounge area that was very modern with nice touches. Had an interior view, but still had plenty of light and a view of Houses of Parliament thought the huge atrium glass front. Very nice breakfast included. with a perfect view of Big Ben. Very easy walk to Waterloo and perfectly located for all the tourist sites in Westminster, the West End and steps away from the Lindon Eye!

Location location location. Fantastic fantastic fantastic . This hotel is in the heart of the action . Close to Waterloo and Westminster stations both of which can get you anywhere in London if not England. The concierge knows absolutely everthing there is to know about all tourist attractions and how to get there which is important. Nearby restaurants and 24 hour mini marts for any things you might need or have forgotten . Some popular attractions are walking distance . Hotel desk staff is extremely friendly and check in and check out was a breeze. Our view was amazing both day and night. We would heartily recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to enjoy London. We stayed at H10 for 5 nights and were amazed at what we got for what seemed to be a small fee. The breakfast was incredible, their offerings were sublime, the service was incredible and it's all included in the price of the room. London was the last leg of a European tour for us and I'm glad we chose H10. The gym was small, but what you can grow accustomed to in a 4 star. The spa area was a little strange, the sauna had to be activated by staff, but there was no signage to advise of this. We set off an alarm, twice, in an attempt to turn it on (don't pull the red cord in the corner of the gym of the red button in the sauna) We dined at the restaurant the night we arrived, the food was good, but quite costly and not of the quality that we expected, nonetheless, the servings were ample and the staff servile. The location is good too, it's walking distance from two tube stations (Waterloo and Lambeth North) about 20 minutes walk to the Big Ben, 30 to Buckingham Palace and 40 to Hyde Park. Of you enjoy the late nightlife, it took us about 25 minutes to walk home from the Vauxhall clubbing district.

Planned my proposal and this was the hotel we stayed at after. We'd never stayed at a Hilton and I booked a king room. They upgraded us to deluxe for free and then offered us executive for £35. Obviously we said yes because that came with access to the executive lounge. Free afternoon tea, evening drinks and breakfast the next day. Amazingly attentive staff and the real impression that nothing was too much trouble.

We had a great stay. We had 4 single beds--one each for my wife and I and our 2 kids. Private shower and bath in room as well. The included breakfast was great--eggs, sausage, ham, cereal, fruit, toast, etc. We would have a huge breakfast in the morning which allowed us to skip lunch (except for a small snack/treat in the afternoon). This was helpful for our budget-oriented family. Easy 15 minute walks to Borough Market, Southwark Underground, or across the Millenial Bridge to St. Pauls. A great stay and great value. We will stay here again if we come back to wonderful London!

Our room had a parents bed and two single kid beds; combined with actual air conditioning we slept well for a change during this heat wave! Downstairs restaurant is Italian so the kids dined on pizza and pasta (another win). The location is somewhat remote, but even black cab rides were only about £20 when traveling from Waterloo. We didn’t try the local rail station this trip, but that would have been a possibility if we were just heading into the city for fun.

We arrived after midnight and were greeted by a cheerful receptionist who quickly checked us in. The double ensuite room is compact & minimal with only a bunk bed! The beds were very comfortable, with clean white covers. The bathroom is tiny but has toilet, sink and shower. Everything was very serviceable and clean. For a quick one night stay or for an economical extended stay in an expensive city, this works very well. The location is great - a 15 minute walk to Elephant & Castle tube or a 10 minute bus to Waterloo main line station. We had to leave by 7am, and the same guy was still on duty at reception - still very friendly! We were very satisfied with our stay. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed in this Travellodge for 2 nights in January. It is in Southwark, which is ideally located for the tube (Underground) as well as being in walking distance to all of the attractions that London has to offer. The staff were really friendly, allowing us to check in early and giving us a room with a view of the Shard. Whilst close to the railway line the rooms have great double glazing. The Travelodge's have a standard room size and decoration and ours was neat and clean with tea and coffee making facilities provided as standard. Around the area of Southwark new eateries and bars have popped up since I last visited London so there is a great variety to choose from. Southwark tube is about 200-300 metres away. Would stay again.

Very nice hotel that is located near King's College London (Guy's campus), the primary reason for my selection. Room was spacious, bright and very clean. Throughout my stay the hotel staff kept the place spotless. Beds were comfortable and provided a good night's sleep. There's a small supermarket next door and getting around Southwark is easy. Borough Market is a mere 7 minute walk away. Will return again.

Best hostel I ever stayed in London! Already booked a second time and would recommend it without any hesitation. The room was very clean, spacious and the facilities appeared to be quite new. Deserved 4 Star hostel! The staff was friendly and always helpful. The elevator didn't work, but who cares, my room was on the first floor, so no problem at all. The room had no lockers but metal cages for every guest, my whole suitcase did fit into it and I used my one padlock to lock it up. There are several bus stations right next to the building. 3-5 minutes walk to 1-Pound-shop, Morrisons, Tesco Express, Mcdonalds, KFC and some other restaurants/bars. thumbs up (I didn't have breakfast at the hostel, but I have been told that it's tasty)

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Tower Bridge Hotel. The hotel itself felt almost brand new and the room was very clean and spacious (by London standards). But the best thing about our stay here had to be the location of the hotel. Situated in the center of the business district there are lots of cafes and restaurants nearby, including a M&S supermarket opposite the hotel. What's more, on Thursday-Sunday, if you walk 5 mins, you will arrive at Borough Market which has to be one of the best food markets anywhere - here you can sample food from any cuisine or grab arguably the best coffee in town (from Monmouth's). We ended up going to the market everyday during our stay and having an awesome lunch for cheap (when compared to going to a restaurant). Overall an excellent hotel in a surprisingly convenient location!

Good spread of breakfast and nice ambience in Colombia. Fantastic view of River Thames from our room. Just that I have to carry our luggage from the reception to the other side of the tower to check in our room. The lift isn’t working well from this tower and I have to carry my own luggages from the stairs. This is too much considering as 4 to 5 star hotel! Can be quite noisy if you open up the balcony door. The restaurant closed at 1am and you can still heard the guests talking and laughing loudly even after 11+pm.

We was stay for 3 nights the hotel nice and clean, room very small,close to Trafalgar Center for who go Europe Tour about 10 mins walk. It close to Waterloo train station and very close to Lambeth North station ( Bakerloo) 1 min walk cross the road, super market and food around and Opposit the hotel. 10 mins walk to Big Ben and London Eyes very convenient,from hotel go to Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 cost £42 abound 40-50 mins depend on traffic,you have to let staff in hotel book it for you recommend thank you.

I've been to Marlin Apartments a few times now - and I will return. The one bed apartment is very comfortable with everything you need - and if you don't fancy eating out - you can pop into Tescos and pick up something to heat up in the kitchen. So much nicer than staying in a cramped hotel room. Please note that 'check in' can take some time so be prepared as it can get very busy at weekends - also make sure you're prepared with ID and a card to put a damage deposit on. Some of the elements in the room could do with an update ie TV and some furnishings - but you wont find better for convenience and and facilities - a real home from home.

I chose to stay at Novotel with my partner as I had booked for us to have dinner at the OXO tower as a celebration which was only a 5 minute drive away. Novotel staff were brilliant, check in and out process was easy and we also had a room upgrade! They were polite, friendly and very attentive. We had breakfast included which was a good selection and the food was tasty. Our room was immaculate and a great size for Central London. Borough market was just around the corner and a maximum 5 minute walk to London Bridge underground. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend.

Rooms vary but all I have experienced have been clean, comfortable and with good shower facilities. Good selection of toiletries are provided and also free water and crisps in addition to the usual coffee and tea facilities. Some rooms are rather noisy due to proximity of railway line. Ask for a lower floor if you have heavy luggage or are unfit; there is no lift and stairs are steep and rather narrow. There is a charming restaurant at the back serving cheap, tasty Turkish cuisine. There is an option to sit on cushions cross-legged, which is fun and good for a romantic meal. But they have ordinary tables as well if you are not feeling adventurous/flexible. Restaurant takes cash only.

I booked two weekends here on either side of a business trip. The location was fantastic, but on the second weekend, I arrived early. Despite making arrangements for an early check-in, I wasn't allowed to check in until after 3 (which I know is standard, but others who had early check-ins were being accommodated). Also, the staff was not nearly as friendly and helpful as the previous weekend. Instead, my questions were met with "you can look that up" and "I don't have time to help you." That said, it's a delightful, quirky little hotel, and I'd definitely stay here again.

I wanted a budget hotel to stay in whilst a very close friend was in hospital nearby, I did not want to pay the usual London rates and I wanted a hotel in walking distance. You get what you pay for , a budget hotel , staff were all very friendly and the room was cleaned daily. Rooms are small and tired but clean. The only problem we had our room was on the third floor and when we showered it leaked into the room below , we were told this had been fixed until it happened again the next morning and so on ! The area around is very lively with many different types of restaurants and bars .

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The location is perfect, 5 minutes walk from London Bridge and right next to the underground station. Everything is easily reachable. In addition, the staff was welcoming and friendly. Our travel group consisted of two adults and a 3-year-old. We stayed in a room that had a shared bathroom. Both bathrooms were clean and well taken care of, we had no issues with this. The only minus point, if have to find one, was that the hotel is located next to a busy street and this meant it got a bit noisy at times. Also there is a hospital nearby so there were ambulances with sirens on driving past quite often day and night. Nevertheless, I would not hesitate to book this hotel again in the future. Definitely excellent price/quality ratio. Once more thanks to the wonderful staff who made us feel welcome.

- walking distance from london bridge and southwark underground (tube) station on the jubilee line. - person can avail underground from heathrow terminals on picadilly line and change at green park underground to jubilee line to reach the hotel. - excellent and smiling staf to great you at the hotel. - excellent service. - decent breakfast but no change in the menu, though. - small yet good rooms - reasonably priced.
